He doesn't always say it perfectly, but most of the time he does. He's also saying different variations of the phrases in the first group. Like "Whatcha doin boy?" or "Whatcha doin Harrison?" He beeps like the microwave, makes belching and farting sounds, whines like the dog, wolf whistles, and he also kinda mumbles in my husbands voice...I'll say "what did you say?" to my husband...and he didn't say anything at all...it was Harrison. 7/10/07 Since we've found out that Harrison is female, we've been talking to her as such. She's learned a few new phrases... Pretty Girl Good Girl Wanna Come out and Play? She's also barking like our dog...she talks to the dog but I can't understand her...she says "blah blah...Sandy!!" (the dog's name) I had a sneezing episode yesterday and after each sneeze, my husband said "bless you"...well, this morning, Harrison made a sneezing sound and said "bless you" right after. ha. 7/25/07 La Dee Da Yummy yummy yummy Stop it Sandy and she's regularly making sneezing sounds and saying "bless you" 8/13/07 You Go Poopie? 6. Well, my baby is 2 today...she's doing great and learning more and more words all the time. Here are the most recent pictures of her...
7. It's funny, Harrison's first word(s) was "pretty bird"...she says about 60 words/phrases and is just now saying "what?!"...
8. Harrison is our source of entertainment around here. She's learned to say "What?!"... after we say something, it's not everytime, but quite often. She says it with such expression...like she's thinking "what the *&^% did you say? I can't hear you!" Or "What? I can't believe you just said that!"...she's so funny...just thought I'd share... Heather
9. No gecko "likes" to be handled. but, it's not uncommon for leopard geckos to be tame...for me, it's not common...lol. I just don't normally handle them. I usually get them as babies and I don't tame them. I got this particular one as a juvenile and slowly figured out she wasn't afraid of me...in fact she likes me. Usually my leos will dart away from my hand...or kinda bark at me....or if I try to hold it, it'll poop in my hand....certainly they don't cuddle up to my hand the way Onyx does. I got my first one as an adult and she was already tamed....all of the others were hatchlings/juvies and pretty wild. Here are some more photos...
10. I bought this gecko at a reptile show last September. I bought her because she's a "Super Snow" and they're very pretty and I'm thinking about breeding next season. Well, some how I lucked out with this little girl...she's so very tame. I wonder if the breeder handled her a lot or if she's just not afraid of humans. I don't remember the name of the breeder...otherwise I'd contact him and ask. It's not very often that this happens so I feel very lucky...her name is Onyx....I named her that because her eyes are solid black instead of the standard greyish/black
11. The breeder told us Harrison was male. The breeder said Harrison's eye/head shape was that of a male....we believed Harrison was male for 18 months....then we did a DNA test...Harrison is female. She already knew her name so she's kinda stuck with a male name.
12. Dave, I understand what you mean but Harrison won't allow my husband to pick her up or take her back to her cage. We have the dog in the house so he wouldn't be able to just open the cage and let her come out on her own....I'm afraid of what the dog might do. Once out of the cage, I wouldn't know what to tell my husband to go about putting her back. Maybe use her favorite foods...??? That might not be a bad idea... Hubby goes in with fav treat...shows harrison the treat on the floor by cage. Harrison comes down out of her cage and eats it. They can maybe play a little and then when it's time to go back to the cage, get her food dish down and put another treat in it and make sure she sees it there. She should be able to make it to her dish for that yummy food in no time,...and hubby didn't have to handle her at all... How does that sound? Maybe I'll do a few test runs before I "send 'em to the wolves"...lol
13. She is in her cage for 10-12 hours a night for sleeping. Then, around 6am I wake her up and we hang out while I get ready for work. Then I put her back in her cage and she's there til I get home. We have a dog, a Mini Schnauzer, and I don't trust her with Harrison. I'm afraid she'd hurt her. I can't let Harrison have the run of the place because of the dog. There have been times when Sandy (the dog) has been out getting groomed and we let Harrison roam the house. She's not too sure what to do...she usually goes straight to her room. My husband is home during the day but they don't have a very good relationship. Harrison won't let him pick her up or anything. He goes in a talks to her and stuff like that...so she's not totally alone...it's just that she's in the cage a lot of the time. And, if I have to run errands after work or something I have Harrison on my brain the whole time. There have been many times that I've wished that Harrison and I could just go live on a secluded island...just the two of us...stupid, I know. Oh well...If I ever get another one, I'll know what to do better than what I did with Harrison. Thanks for the replies.
14. I'm just curious if you guys would do things differently with your greys now having experience. There are several things I would have done different. First, I'm not sure I would get her...I feel bad sometimes that she has to stay in her cage for 6 hours a day while I'm at work. I wish she could just have the run of the house...fly around all she wants. But if I were to have gotten her knowing what I know now, I would have put the flight harness on her from day one so that she could fly around outside without worry. I would have started toweling her too...just so I could look at her anywhere I want. I would have started touching every inch of her body when she was a baby so that if she were to get injured, she'd be used to having me touch her...and I'd be able to check her injury. I also would have invited more people over so she'd be better socialized. I'm her human and if anything ever happens to me, she'll be lost...hopefully she'd be able to find someone to fill my shoes. Anyway, what would you guys do (if anything) differently?
15. Here she is on the perch... I like the ones where the jacks are flying through the air...they were quite blurry so that's why I left them small...(size 150)
16. Oh, and thanks Judy for the comment about my avatar...I like it too.... Who is "Josey"? And, is "Gram" your last name?
17. I put the bowls on and she's standing on them...she's taking the toys out of 'em and either she chews them up or she throws them. lol. She'll stand on the center short perches if I put her on them but won't initiate it.
18. I was pleasantly surprised this morning when Harrison willingly perched herself on the top perch of the stand. She allowed me to put the top three shorter perches on the center thing and she stayed. (No bowls yet) She doesn't move once she's up there but it's progress.

Post edited by: HeatherStrella, at: 2007/12/02 20:12

20. This is one of my Christmas presents from my husband. We got the medium one. He just put it together tonight...so far Harrison will only sit on the tray part for a couple minutes with me right by her side. She's pretty freaked out by it. We haven't put any of the center short perches on it. We've just put the top perch on without the bowls. How long do you think it'll be until she gets used to it? Here's the link: http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?c=5059+5107+15451&pcatid=15451
21. Mine are pretty boring. I call Harrison "baby girl", "baby birdy", "my little girl", and "pretty girl"...that's about it...
22. Joanne, I really like that vet. She's really good with Harrison. It's a small world...I can't believe we use the same vet...ha! She's the one who put Harrison on the red palm oil also. Too funny
23. I've been giving Harrison Red Palm Oil for her dry feet and feathers. I just put a little on a cracker. Dr. Joseph from The Bird and Pet Clinic of Roseville is my vet...do you see her too?
24. I cannot believe the 20 or so turkeys that just rented the house around the corner...they're wild...all over the place..on the roof...in the street....just plain...uh...welll...they're such...AHHH....T-U-R-K-E-Y-S!!!! No, seriously...I don't know where these guys came from but they disappeared just as quickly as they appeared. P.S. I know, I'm a dork :pinch: :woohoo:
