Practice with new camera

No, although it's not a bad idea...maybe I will frame one or two. The ones I asked which was best, the first one came out of the camera like that and the second one had some PP. I need to adjust the camera/flash so the pics are lighter....I just wasn't sure if maybe the white around the eyes was blown in the brighter picture. Thanks for the replies!! -

I think I'll pass, MrSpock...lol...but what a great idea. In my line of work (Sign Language Interpreter) we can't wear nail polish. I probably wouldn't anyway tho...You crack me up...thanks for the laugh
-
No, she's been doing this for quite a while. Usually right when I pick her up...she closes her eyes while she does it too...it's actually kinda cute
-
Hey, Harrison rubs her beak/face on my hands/fingers all the time...I'm just wondering if anyone knows what it means? It's the same type of rubbing as when she rubs on her perches. Anyone?
-
I got these geckos over the past few months... I got this little guy from PA (it came in the mail)..he's called a Mack Snow and is named "McLovin"...ha This young lady is a Super Snow and I got her from a breeder at a reptile show. I don't have a name for her yet...she's a possible girlfriend for McLovin. And...this is an Albino that I got from a store in Berkeley...her name is Pink even though I'm not sure of gender yet. Just thought I'd share

I say it's possible...We picked Harrison up from the breeder when she was 3 months old and she was saying a few phrases. She has always talked as far as I know. I just wish I started her "talking diary" earlier in her life so I could say when it was she really took off with her talking. She's almost 2 years old now and says a lot. She only has to hear something a few times before she says it. Here's her talking diary and photo album... http://imageevent.com/heatheranddenis/congoafricangrey

Post edited by: HeatherStrella, at: 2007/11/07 00:30

Good grief, lady, you talk a lot!!! Nah, just kidding...congrats!!

Yeah, Harrison will be the big 2 years old on December 31. Woo hoo!! She had an accident on me yesterday...oh well, I'm sure it won't be the first...but it sure did surprise me...it's been a long time since she pooped on me. It was kinda my fault tho, I lost track of time and didn't put her on her perch to pooh at her "next interval" shall we say... Good luck training...it wasn't hard at all, it came naturally for Harrison, I think, after telling her what she was doing...and where I wanted her to do it. lol
-
Thanks for the comments...Laurie...it's never too early to start training...(I think)...

Harrison is so cute...when she's out in the living room, she only poops when she's on her perch. And she'll tell ya when she's gonna poop...she says in a VERY high voice "you go poopie"...If I've got her on my lap or whatever, I'll put her on her perch every-so-often and tell her to poop and she does it as soon as I tell her to. It's a trip to see her understanding what I'm saying. It took weeks/months of continuously putting her on her perch and telling her to "go poopie"...and catching her just before she actually pooped...we all know what our birdies do just as they're ready to poop...anyway, I just wanted to share the good news. Here's my favorite recent picture of her...(sorry if you've seen it before)

LOL...no. The teacher I interpret for has the kids do a lot of skits/songs. When they're learning new things, she has them sing a song or make up a skit about it. The other day she said "I need one of those things where you slap it down and say action"...her birthday is coming up so I thought I'd look for one on eBay...but I didn't know what it was called. Thanks to Briansmum, I found one and bid on it.

Thank you sooooo much!!!!

OK...you know the striped black and white thing that directors use while making movies? They use it at each scene...they make it move up and down and say "action"...does anyone know what it's called??
-
Harrison continues to learn new words and phrases. The cutest thing is when she says "go poopie"....she says it in a really high voice compared to how she says other phrases. I really wish I could figure out this video camera I have. Anyway, here are some more words/phrases she's learned..this was taken from her online photo album. 8/18/07 Want a cracker? Fly, fly, fly!! Hey, hey, hey!! What's the matter? Where's my good birdie? 10/10/07 Hi Sweet Pea That's my nose, those are my toes Sandy, shush (Sandy is our dog) 10/26/07 Hey Girl Go Poopie (in a really high voice, then she poops) Where's my girl? Walnut? Watch birdies (bird DVD) How's my (little) girl, hmmmm???? That's my (little) girl

The thing (or creature) that makes me smile most is Harrison for sure. Even just talking about her makes me smile. Then there's music...70's music and Olivia Newton-John music...especially when I hear it on a radio station...for some reason, when I know other people in other cars/homes are listening to the same thing, it makes me smile...lol...I know, I'm a nut

Thanks for all the support

My husband and I decided to go to the foothills last Saturday to take photos of the fall colors in the trees. Our "good" car had a nail in one of the tires, the jeep still only had the bikini top on it so we took our older car for the hour and a half drive. We stopped a few exits before our destination to eat some lunch. We parked in a large parking lot and walked a block or two to a restaurant. We had a nice lunch and walked back to our car. We heard "oh my gosh, look at that car!!"...then we saw our car...the back bumper lying on the ground. At first, I didn't think it was our car....denial. It's kinda unbelievable when you see your car in such a condition. We got a little closer and couldn't deny that it was our car. And, no note either. It was pretty obvious what had happened. We parked next to a half space...for a motor cycle. Maybe a little bigger than a motor cycle space. It looked like a car tried to park there...realized it was too small and when they pulled out, snagged our bumper and tore it off...my husband walked around to the different businesses to see if anyone saw anything...nope..nada. But we did find out that the police station was just down stairs ... kinda underground. They gave us the paperwork to fill out and were quite nice. Our insurance doesn't cover it...bummer!! I'm just glad it was THAT car and not one of the others. Anyway, I just wanted to vent...I didn't think people still did that sort of thing anymore...I guess since 9/11 and the war, I thought we were all trying to have each other's back, so to speak. Here's a picture of the car...it's the only photos I got that day... Heather

Post edited by: HeatherStrella, at: 2007/10/23 04:53

Harrison has become sooo nervous and jumpy
HeatherStrella replied to HeatherStrella's topic in The GREY Lounge
No, nothing has changed. But if it's happening because of an event, I can probably tell you the event. She flew off her perch one night and into the front door. When she flapped her wings, blood splattered all over me and the wall. Her wing hurt after that for a bit but she was ok the next day. Her cage is against a wall and near a window with the shades drawn. Nothing has changed inside or outside her cage. Thanks for the replies, I'll keep an eye on her...
