1. Hey all...Harrison is a 22 month old female CAG. This past week, she's become so very nervous. If me or my husband move without telling her or kinda warning her, she jumps and flies into things. Just now, she was out on her perch and I was already standing...I turned around to get some of her food and she flew to the floor...on her way down, she hit the door of her cage with her wing. I'm afraid one of these times she's going to hurt herself...anybody have any suggestions as to why she's become so nervous?? Thanks!! Heather
2. Harrison does this too. She screams then ATTACKS her ball that's hanging from the ceiling of her cage. She only does it to that particular toy. She's funny to watch.
3. I couldn't see any difference in the JPG format and the NEF format so I went back to JPG (highest quality)...maybe I'll try again when I'm a little better with the equipment. Here are two more I just shot...

Post edited by: HeatherStrella, at: 2007/10/15 00:30
4. Thanks Melissa.. I had the hood on the lens..I took that off. I think I need to figure out the external flash, too. It's Speedlight SB 800. I have no idea how to use it. I shot some pics in raw....this one, you can see crumbs falling from the cracker Harrison is eating... Still not quite what I want...practice practice practice..

7. I just got a new camera... Nikon D40X and I'm anxiously awaiting the release of the D300...I can't wait!!! I got some great new lenses and other toys...I'm having soo much fun...here are a few snap shots as I was getting to know my new camera/lenses...etc.. My Favorite of the bunch... They seem a little blurry to me...I'm used to shooting with Image Stabilization built in the body of the camera...this is built in the lens(es) of the camera...not sure if I'm doing something wrong or what...any ideas people??
8. Harrison likes to go after my husband's toes...so, recently my husband started saying "this is my nose (pointing to nose) and those are my toes (pointing to toes)" to Harrison...now every morning Harrison says it over and over again. It's very cute...I just wish she could do the pointing...ha. Harrison tends to do that with every word/phrase she learns...she'll say it over and over again...then it becomes part of her morning ritual...I really wish there was a way of getting it on tape.

10. Harrison does this quite often while not in her cage. She sits with her wings like this and kinda shakes them. Here's a pic
11. Thank you all for the replies. She still seems perfectly fine...I will weigh her tomorrow morning...I will also start working with her on the perch with her favorite crackers. Thanks a bunch!!
12. I'm so sorry about your loss. I agree with BMustee, the different personality is a plus. You'll love Milo in a different way than you loved Butzi. I can't imagine if I lost Harrison...I can't bear the thought of it. Again, I'm so sorry. Good luck with your new baby Heather
13. A few nights ago, Harrison was on her perch in the living room and she flew off. Somehow, she hurt herself. I don't know how, but she started bleeding. The only reason I knew she was bleeding was because when I had her on my hand, she flapped her wings and blood splattered all over me and the wall. It was just little droplets. Of course, I freaked out...it was too late to call our vet. So, we put her on the floor on a bunch of newspapers so we could see if blood dripped off of her...there was nothing. She flapped her wings again and no blood. She ate fine, she was playing again in no time. I just wonder if I should be worried about infection. She doesn't seem to be hurting anywhere...although, she won't sit on any perches anymore...she'll only sit on the ones in her cage...not in the living room. She acts like she's scared to death of the perches like the one she flew off of when she started bleeding. How should I handle this?? Of course, I don't want her to be afraid of her perches...what should I do??? Thanks, Heather
14. Would something like this be acceptable??
15. Harrison's Hatch Date was 12~31~05 Day we brought her home was 4~6~06 The day we found out she was a girl 5~26~07
16. We've been using the red palm oil for Harrison. We put a little dab on a cracker every day...she loves it and her feathers look great. The vet suggested we use it for dryness.
17. Wow...I didn't see this until this morning. Thank you!! Life's been hectic with work starting again. I was off for 10 weeks and went back last week. I'm counting the days til Thanksgiving week...lol.
18. Harrison was talking at age 3 months at the breeder. She learns to say things pretty quickly after hearing them.
19. Thanks you guys...sorry I didn't see your comments earlier...I'm a little slow
20. I thought there was a more current one...maybe not...oh well.
21. I looked for the thread where everyone (including myself) posted things our greys say...I recently updated my album/blog on my site and wanted to post it on that thread but I couldn't find it...so I thought I would just start over...I don't know how to make it sticky...or is that appropriate? I'd love to see what other greys say/mimick...here's this list of what Harrison says and the dates I added them to the album... 4/6/07 I love you Hi/hello baby Whatcha doin? Cartoooons!! Hiya Hotlips OOOoooooohhhh!!! Hellllloooo??? Hello bird Harrison is a (very) pretty biiiiiirrrrrd Pretty cool It's OK Added 4~12~07 Feed the geckos? You're a good boy. (lol) How's my baby? I'm sorry Hello Buddy How are you? He just started saying "no" when he doesn't want to do something. 5~1~07 Heather Where's Heather? I'm Sorry gootchie-gootchie goo Go On Ooops! 5~23~07 I'm trying to teach him "Tell me about it, stud"...you know, the famous line in "Grease"...so far he says "Tell me about it, SSSSS" 5~26~07 He said "Tell me about it, Stud" perfectly. He doesn't always say it perfectly, but most of the time he does. He's also saying different variations of the phrases in the first group. Like "Whatcha doin boy?" or "Whatcha doin Harrison?" He beeps like the microwave, makes belching and farting sounds, whines like the dog, wolf whistles, and he also kinda mumbles in my husbands voice...I'll say "what did you say?" to my husband...and he didn't say anything at all...it was Harrison. 7/10/07 Since we've found out that Harrison is female, we've been talking to her as such. She's learned a few new phrases... Pretty Girl Good Girl Wanna Come out and Play? She's also barking like our dog...she talks to the dog but I can't understand her...she says "blah blah...Sandy!!" (the dog's name) I had a sneezing episode yesterday and after each sneeze, my husband said "bless you"...well, this morning, Harrison made a sneezing sound and said "bless you" right after. ha. 7/25/07 La Dee Da Yummy yummy yummy Stop it Sandy and she's regularly making sneezing sounds and saying "bless you" 8/13/07 You Go Poopie? (female voice) "Honey?!"~(male voice) "What?!" It's alright Ok bye bye Bye bye Harrison You're a good bird, yes you are Come here WOW! She makes the sound of a soda pop opening
