Nice Melissa, very nice. I'm curious about how your put the copyright (sp?) and your name on it. I have the option to write on my photos but I don't think I can make the symbol...how did you do that? And, is there a way to do it quickly...like just push a button to make your name and symbol appear or do you have to write it out everytime on every photo?

Awww what a cutie pie!! How exciting to have a new baby grey!! :woohoo:

Yes, that's me who owns Harrison...er um...Harrison owns me. LOL. It's still such a trip to see her in the mag. ha

Here's baby Harrison sucking on her binki...lol

I voted "no"...Harrison was clipped 2 years ago...or should I say she was butchered 2 years ago. Her wings are just now getting back to normal...we don't plan on clipping them again.

CD, there you are!!! Are you back to stay?? Thank you both for the comments...and Joe, thanks for signing the page.

Fawkes enjoying the sunshine!

I just looked at your pics again read your captions. I thought in pic number 3, you took the pic through glass...now I see she's scratching and flinging dander all over...pretty cool that your camera picked that up. I think it's funny when they do that or shake their body the way they do and dander goes-a-flyin'. -

Nice pics...she looks so innocent...how old is she? -
and the Green Green Grape lost...I've given Harrison lots of fruits and veggies in the past but she's never really been interested...until recently...especially today with a grape. OMG, she loved it!! I thought I'd document this special occasion..she's so cute...I'm so fricken proud of her... Here she is... All done...time to fling it all over the place

Harrison made it in BirdTalk magazine...although, I sent them a few...some professional looking and some of her kind of in action...they picked one of her in action that wasn't very pretty. I don't know if they would choose a picture if it was "too good"...know what I mean? But, you should enter that pic in something...maybe some photography contests? I've entered and won some in photographyvoice.com. They have like 7-8 categories and have one picture in each everyday. Are your birdies wings clipped or do you just trust them...or?? I don't have Harrison's wings clipped anymore and wouldn't trust her outside like that. I'm just curious.

Awww what sweet pictures...makes me want another baby. I wish I had more time, more space, more money...etc, etc...lol. My husand's name is Denis, different spelling but same sound. It is kinda strange for a bird...but so is Harrison...and other names...the stranger, the better I say...

I don't know what's up with Harrison. She sounds like your love bird. She'll be sweet and we'll be playing or whatever and them whammo she bites. When she bites she strikes over and over and over. Very quick bites..sometimes I wonder if I handle her too much. Is that possible, to handle CAGs too much?

A couple snapshots of me and Harrison...
HeatherStrella replied to HeatherStrella's topic in Photography & Video Room
Oh man, if I stayed away from her after everytime she bit me, that would be a lot of time away from her. She never (except for the last time) draws blood but lately she's been biting a lot. -

Dave, I'm only 1/2 Jewish if there is such a thing. Perhaps we'll have African Grey for our Easter Dinner. Ooooh bad joke. C'mere ya little turkey.....

by the way, this is the meaty area between the thumb and first finger.

I'd like to bite her back. Nah, not really, but sort of. She got me good this time. She's tagged me in this same spot before but never broken the skin. I just didn't read her signals correctly...and to boot, she said "turkey" after she did it. I say that to her when she does something silly...little turkey. Grrrr...here's my mark left by my little turkey I should have taken the picture right after the bite. You could see where the top part of the beak started...it was like a little triangle.

I'm really having a hard time finding toys that stimulate Harrison. Something she can work...she has boxes of toys that are just things to chew or things she wants nothing to do with. Does anybody have ideas? They can be homemade toys or bought toys...

Whenever Harrison would poop, I said "you go poopie"...well, it didn't take long before she was saying it. She says "go poopie", she poops, then she says it again and kinda looks at it. lol... well, we were playing on the floor, I was lying on my side and she was standing on my hip when she said "go poopie"...so I put her on her stand, she pooped, said it again, looked at it, I took her down, and we continued playing. It was kinda funny. She's done that before when we were playing and I just let her poop on the floor then clean it up. We have a special carpet we play on. HA. I think I'm gonna have her poop on her stand instead...it almost seems like she wants me to put her up on the stand to poop. I just love the fact I have a bird who tells me she has to poop before she does it. LOL

Post edited by: HeatherStrella, at: 2008/03/20 06:07

The same thing happened when we had Harrison's wings clipped. But, another thing happened too. When she would fold her wings in, it would irritate her sides so she started chewing on the feathers on the inside of her wings. The vet who clipped her told us she was starting to "feather pluck"...I was devastated until I took her to another vet who told me what it really was. She had us put a little bit of Red Palm Oil on a treat and feed it to her...it softens the skin and feathers so it's not so irritating. She stopped chewing on her feathers and they're all almost grown in now. With the oil, it hardens so I transfer a small amount into a smaller jar (the jar the vet gave us) and put that little jar into a cup of hot water to soften it up. Then I pour it over a little treat. Like a piece of cracker or almond or something. I know of other members who do the same thing and it really helps. I suggest you start doing this right away. Just put a little bit...like a drop. Hope this helps. Heather

Post edited by: HeatherStrella, at: 2008/03/19 22:56
