My female grey is a little chatterbox. She can say a lot of phrases and and can say all the names of all the other birds. She also puts our last name with the birds names! She heard us calling the dog, who when she wouldn't come as called , we added her last name to emphasize that she must come. Jiggy picked this up in no time and was smart enough to figure out it goes with all the names in our family! She also tells the conures to "Be Quiet!" when they start to make a lot of noise. She says " I love you" and" Ti amo","who let the dogs out?", "What cha doin' up there?""Bedtime for Birdies", "Go Leafs Go!" (our favourite NHL hockey team)and she can also whistle the theme song from Hockey Night In Canada and Danny Boy. Sometimes she gets mixed up and whistles one bar of one and one of the other! The male Quinn, says significantly less than her and mainly copies what the other birds say. He has an annoying habit of making the sound from the smoke detector! Jiggy, by the way, can make the sound of the ring of the phone, local and long distance, answer it and call me to the phone. Awesome birds.

No one is home all the time to care for their birds. As long as he has stimulating toys and foods that take time to eat and maybe the tv on children's programing, he will be fine. I leave my birds 6 hours a day sometimes longer 4 days a week. they are quite fine. They are out the rest of the time as yours would be. Go grey. I have greys and amazons and although the amazons are sweethearts they are not as personable as greys in my humble opinion, going by my own birds.Sometimes greys are a bit skitish...one of mine is..so if you were planning on taking your bird with you places, perhaps an amazon would be better for you. another bird to chech out is the conure. I have 3 blue crowns (like the one in the movie Paulie)and they are awesome! Very very friendly, talk love to be with you. love their baths and toys. One of mine sits on my shoulder while I do my gardening in the summer shouting hello to everyone that goes by. If I could only have one bird, it would be a conure. that said, I love my greys too. My greys have an amazing vocabulary. Very smart, with cognitive abilities as I'm sure you know. good luck with your choice.

When I loaded my photo it appeared to go, but when I looked for it, it was just a little white box with an x in it. My other photos went ok or at least told me before hand if theywere too big.

Not sure what I did but when I submitted another photo, it came up as a box with an x in it. Any ideas?

I clean my oven in the summer and take my birds outside for the day. The smell from a self cleaning oven is very strong and i would not chance having my birds anywhere around when it is on. The rest of the year i spot clean the oven. works for me.

Where in Ont. did you get Chico? Also, do you know what kind of conures she had? Sound like you got a wonderful baby!
