I will see to it, Elvenking.

His feet are actually ginormous. Bigger than my other 2 CAG's feet, that's for sure. They're like little CAG clown feet!

Today we welcome Fynn into our hearts and home! Fynn (formerly Casper) is a gentle little sweetheart. Confident, curious and so darn adorable in every way! While my heart is filled with sadness, knowing his first owner gave it his all to make things work, and whose heart is now broken having to rehome him, we are both focused on moving forward. My door will always be open to him for visitation rights! I'm absolutely amazed at how quickly little babies can become acclimated to new surroundings. He's already met all the birdies, has flown laps around our bird room and outdoor aviary, munched down on a healthy bowl of chop, shredded a few toys, and has already wiggled himself into our hearts. Welcome to your new home, Fynn!

That's awesome! Wish I was more resourceful and could do stuff like that for my fids. The 3 bell swing is Maalik's absolute favorite toy. He'll grab onto the bars of the cage, pull and then let go to get the best ride that he can! Our new baby, Fynn, has one, too, and already seems to enjoy it!

I've owned 8 of these cages. The down side is that the darn wheels break off over time, and they don't make replacement casters for them. These are push on casters; not the screw in kind. Two of my cages are now on furniture coasters because all their wheels have snapped off. I've since replaced 4 of them with A&E and Hendrix Preview cages. What I do like about these cages is that they are very roomy for the low price.

Teak turned 4 in April. Never had her DNA'd, but I've always leaned towards it being a 'she' simply because a Jardine's breeder said she could tell from the shape of a Jardine's head as to whether it was a boy or girl. Teak is my one and only bird. She'll quietly sit for hours on my shoulder. Unfortunately she had been clipped before fledge, so now she'll only fly when extremely startled.
-
My birds' names? Teak and Walter, Jardine's and BHC
-
You did. And a BHC, too!

Teak wants to welcome you, Casper, and to let you know that there's plenty of room to play! And even bathe!

Elvenking, I know how unbelievably difficult a decision this is for you. We've shared many joyful stories about our greys along with those that presented certain challenges. My heart aches for you knowing that although you've given it your very best, that you weren't able to find harmony. I am honored that you have placed your trust in me and are willing to share his little life with my family. There's a whole lot of activity going on around here each and every day! He'll have our giant aviary to soar around in and will have time to meet and great his new fid family. Maalik loves other birds , so I'm predicting that he and Casper will become the best of friends in time!

Steve, plz text me.

Oh yes! Two is the famous 'terrible two's' stage for greys. Mine went through it for 6-9 months before he grew out of it. He was testing his boundaries, just like toddlers do! I believe that Dave posted behavioral stages of greys somewhere in the forum. I found his words of wisdom invaluable when my was younger.

Thanks Steve. Sydney seems to have raging hormones, too, but at least he doesn't barber himself...yet. Guess I'll continue doing what works. Still working on his out of cage time. Have to set aside a good chunk of time each day in order to work slowly and patiently with him. With 12 fids, it's becoming very difficult to find the time. If I think I'll be rushed, then I don't bring him out. Don't want to do the 2 steps forward; 1 step backward dance. Getting him back into his cage slowly and without much stress has been my challenge thus far. I'm extremely surprised that people actually dope their birds up in order to manage their amorous behaviors. But I guess that if the barbering behavior becomes health threatening it becomes an option, albeit the last option I'd actually consider. Glad to hear that he's now clean and doing great!

I have two of these. They're tall and big! One of my CAGs and one of my macaws are in one. They both use every square inch of its real estate, too. https://prevuepet.com/product/642/empire-large-bird-cage-3157

I need a little advice regarding Sydney. We've had him now for 7 weeks and he's making amazing progress. So amazing that now, when I speak to him, he immediately becomes amorous. This is the only time where I can touch his feet and when he's more likely to spontaneously step up. I'd like to discourage this behavior, but quite frankly it's the only time I can actually touch him or get him to feel comfortable enough to step up for me.

How is Jay doing now? Did his vision and hearing return after that horrible blackout prevented him from receiving his oxygen?
-
Acappella, that's going to be the difficult part. I see his sweet spirit blossoming, but he primarily tucks it behind his fears. And yes, he was spoiled before she died. Had free roam throughout their home 24/7. After she died? Isolation in a cage that sat inside that horrible shack.
-
Congratulations!!! How awesome that you have Aura's brother! It's almost as if she's still with you. Welcome home Tau!
-
That's horrible! Praying that his sight and hearing will return once his O2 sats return to within normal ranges.
-
Yeah, I'm hunkered down for a very long haul with him. What is it with them and going for the web of your hand? So tenderly painful! Huey just 'saw the light'!
-
It's going to be a very long and slow process. I am able to get him out of his cage if he's 'in the mood', if you know what I mean. Once he's outside his cage, it's as if a switch has been flicked on, and he immediately becomes very anxious, quivering the shoulder portion of his wings. Near his cage he's a velociraptor. Away from his cage I can at least hold him for a bit before 'the bite' happens. I finally heard the very first phrase he's ever uttered: 'Hey stupid'. 😞 Not surprised.
-
He could have munched on those after the fact. Mine like to use molted feathers as back scratchers! They also like to chew on the tips afterwards.
-
You can tell by looking at the feather's shaft as to whether it was barbed off or not. If the tips look chewed, and you know he didn't chew them after the fact, then likely it's plucking. The tips from those feathers at the top of your picture look like they were naturally molted. Do you see any bald areas on his body? I'm thinking that it's likely a heavy molt.
-
This is so not right. Aggressive birds can be toweled for a nail trim. Sheez! Please seek someone else to do the trim. This is way over the top in my opinion.
-
If they're bonded, they will mourn their loss. Is there a way that you could work out a deal to take them both rather than to have them separated? I'm thinking about their well-being as a bonded pair.
