  1. I've actually never given any of my fids dairy products in any form. I only give them raw fruits and veggies, sprouts, some seed home made birdie bread and some nuts. Occasionally they get a teensy helping of chicken and organic eggs.
  2. You just never know! These guys are quirky, to say the least.
  3. "I think my CAG is the trainer and *I* am the trainee." Well, you've got that one right!
  4. I played around, but could only figure out uploading videos through the 'choose files' interface. But I know that's not correct.
  5. I agree with you, Ray. One of my greys took a dislike to my eldest son who used to speak negatively about him. Then, one day, Maalik dive bombed him when his back was turned towards him. The anger and dislike from my son towards Maalik continued to escalate the situation. Even after a few years of my son trying to repair the damage, Maalik wouldn't have any of it. Maalik likes everyone else as we do him.
  6. It's always great to see you and Jayd stop by for a visit and a chat.
  7. I was wondering where you've been, Ray. I'm so sorry to hear about all your tragic losses in such a short period of time no less. I look forward to reading your posts again. Welcome back!
  8. Great! Thanks Kevin. Looking forward to giving it a whirl.
  9. I'll still choose Avian Avenue over the Parrot Forum. And you're right about the FB forums. Many people are cocked and loaded to ream out others over there. Still searching for the best FB ones worthy of my time. I do participate in the FB grey group that you, SRSeedBurners, are also a participant.
  10. It would be sad, but I completely understand why it's necessary to consider making changes to this forum. New members only briefly remain which leaves me wondering why people aren't staying. Is it because it's so quiet? Is it because something needs tweaking? Marketing possibilities? I guess much will depend upon where Talon's heart and passions lie.
  11. I can't watch it. Too upsetting for me.
  12. Yay! I was finally able to change mine to Fynn's pic!
  13. It's been an ongoing issue ever since the template was switched back after the holidays.
  14. Welcome Chvonne! Thank you for taking in a beautiful grey in need. It's great that you are taking her in to be evaluated. Hopefully you will receive some answers from your avian vet. If a bird has been a chronic plucker, it's one of those awful habits that's extremely difficult to break. Oftentimes the follicles become so badly damaged that they won't be able to regrow its feathers. There are bird collars that some have used that help. Changing her diet to one filled with fresh fruit and veggies, adding organic red palm oil to the food and giving regular warm water baths will also help. Adding yams or sweet potatoes to her diet will provide her with much needed vitamin A, something greys really need. Please let us know how your vet appt goes! Oh, and pictures of your brand new baby please! 🙂
  15. Awwww. So happy for you that things are working out so nicely!
  16. Let him be your guide as to what he wants/doesn't want. Birds don't feel emotions as we do, so anger isn't what's going on. If a bird feels uncomfortable or threatened, they will show its displeasure or discomfort. I don't recall how old your bird is, but most of my 13 are going through hormonal stages at the moment. Oh, just read back and see that he's around 2 or 3. Let me tell you that my oldest CAG was an absolute monster during that age bracket. He did grow out of it, but I think it was around a year before harmony again! Hang in there and don't push him. Let him guide you, as it's all about them. LOL!
  17. 2 of my CAGS didn't start saying any words until they were 1 years old. Your grey is still very young. Give him time and he'll be saying words and phrases for you. There are some greys that never talk.
  18. That's great news! Thanks for the update! It certainly takes time, patience and perseverance to redirect certain behaviors and form new ones. Nicely done!
  19. Nicely done! There's definitely benefits when getting another bird while the other is still young.
  20. I actually keep a misting bottle near and ready to go whenever I've introduced my birds to each other. If they get into a serious squabble, I break them up with a fine misting and then remove the perpetrator. Only a small handful of my 13 get along, which sucks, because I have to do a rotation of their 'out of cage' times. If they all got along, they would be out of their cages a lot more. For now it adds up to be about 5-6 hours per day.
  21. So happy to hear she's getting better!
  22. Still can't change out my profile photo. It keeps throwing me out after I hit the 'continue' button.
  23. She has your voice down to a T! Inflection and all!
  24. This is great news! Praying that she'll continue to show signs of getting better every day.
