I know this is an old thread, but OMG, I went to the website and looked at some of the Greys up for adoption...... Some of them so badly plucked you couldn't possibly understand how it could get soo bad. I thought about sponsoring one. Is there any hope for these guys to regain a normal life again? Get a few feathers back and gain some weight, or are they scarred permanently? Thats all I can really say OMG!

The only thing Sukei does that is recognizable is the sexy whistle, don't know if it has a spelling LOL

I discovered that Sukei likes to hear herself and talk back as long as she hears it playing. Found this out when showing a video to someone that had the audio turned up, She really seems to enjoy it and wont stop chattering till the video stops. Each time I do it, she adds to dialog with a new type sound. Is this a bad thing to do with her? ANY time you fire off audio she immediately starts to talk back to herself. I checked if it was just parrot chatter in general by running some audio of a different parrot, and she doesn't utter a peep, just to her own. Scratching my head on this one???

It finally happened today. It is my day off and I try to spend most of it with the Wife and Sukei. The wife and I were giving her the usual shower. Afterwards we brought the cage with her on top to the window to dry in the sunlight (Usual Routine) I thought I would try and get her to step up, but it turns out step up was the problem.... It was more like back down LOL. I put my hand behind her and just gently lifted up. There she was siting on my hand..... She looked at me and I looked at her both of us in shock I think LOL. Lasted about 30 seconds because I did not want to spook her, I moved to the perch and she got off......the ride was over

All, I checked with the powers that be and said it was ok to post this. I noticed alot of folks were having trouble with posting videos and I got tired of youtube and all the advertising embedded into my videos, so I made a video site to make uploading videos and posting them a snap. With my new found love of parrot topics, I made a site specifically for Grey videos, although all parrot videos are welcome. Your video will not be embedded with advertising site logos or anything, just your video. I embed the site logo on my videos only in case someone decides they want to use it. Go to http:\\greyvid.com 1. Register (You can use fake info EXCEPT for a working email, the system sends an email back to you to confirm you are a real person and not a spam bot) 2. Upload your video. It can be in just about any format your device cranks out. The only limitation is size it has to be 300 MB or less and 300 MB is a BIG clip. All the fields are required except sub category It will look like this. After filling in the data fields click Continue to Upload It will look like this. Click the Browse button and navigate to where your video is on your pc. Click the video you want and then click the Upload button. It will look like this. After your upload is complete, give the system a moment to process your video and go back to the main site by clicking the site logo in the top left corner. Find your video and click on it. It will look like this... 3. After you click the share/embed button two code snippets will appear. You want the BBC (Bulletin Board Code): Just copy and paste the code in the top box into your post. What will show up after posting it is this..... Watch "Macaws and Greys" It is really is kind of simple and easy after you do it once, but I understand some folks do not live on their PC's for a living, so I would be glad to answer any questions you may have.

Hmm, maybe I am wrong but I made extra sure to remove the core because they said the core has trace amounts of arcenic in it, I could have read it wrong. Maybe someone with more knowledge can chime in...:confused:

Had the same problem. I broke apart one of the Parrot chew toys with the wooden dowels and just handed them to her one by one. She was content to perch in the cage chewing on the dowels. Do not know if that would help you or not, but it is something to try

Not sure what to make of this... After several nights of playing the music softly, today my wife calls me and said she turned on her regular daytime music. Heard a lot of vocal stuff coming from Sukie and she went out to the living room and she is dancing, not just a little head bob, but getting down on it LOL. She doesn't speak yet (Just the regular sound effects stuff) Do not know where she got it from, besides the TV maybe.... lol Thanks for the words of encouragement. Like I said, Im in it for the long haul.

Paraphrase "When a naked man is chasing a woman through an alley with a butcher knife and a "explitive", I figure he isn't out collecting for the Red Cross. I am going to shoot him and ask questions later. I walked in to a bird sweat shop if you will, and took one of these poor tortured birds out of there. I do not see how I contributed to the problem. I knew nothing about this wild capture thing before last month. If you saw what they were doing to these birds, you would want to get them all out of there. Off my soap box.

Still reading. I almost hesitate to offer any advise, but for what it is worth, I think, Sukie made great progress for the first few weeks and she kinda went into no more progress mode. Tried all kinds of new toys, and really letting her/him have his own way. Ah im just going to say she, I think she is from what I can read....the grey outline on the red thing, whatever it does not matter it is just hard to type without he/she. I think after talking to the Arab hacks down at the market she is wild caught, they admit it. Get a boatload in from Africa on ships carting arms and what ever will make a buck, which explains why she makes monkey noises. She has been very skittish after the great progress she made in the first three weeks Any how now to the advise, I found she likes David Foster the Symphony sessions CD. She calms down and purrs and falls to sleep quickly. I am in it for the long run, all we have is time. Please forgive me for giving advise as a newbie, but it isnt anything that can hurt your loved one, so what the heck LOL. Take it for what it is worth.
