Interesting perspective on your Grey being a Daddy's girl and yet having a close relationship with another Grey. I'm pretty sure we'll be taking my Grey that I lost to a divorce 20+ years ago back into my home. I've always wondered am I going to lose my little Daddy's girl. Our only difference is that the Grey I lost and may be getting back is a female. Hoping the difference in age will help with the union.

Hey I remember Kizzy! Our Greys are nearly the same age. Greycie is 16mos on Feb31 (Feb28). You're description sounds nearly identical to us. Cuddle birdy, talking, and fully expecting some naughty two's to come along. Although i think we're starting to see it already.

I believe that's a Poi? If so, she probably has a bite like our Raven did. Smallest bird of our biggies but with a tremendous clamp for a beak. She's the only one that has made me dance trying to get my finger back. Cute bird!

Yes! Good for you adopting an older bird. It seems the adopted ones always have a special place in our home. She's definitely a cutie.

I definitely understand the part about feeling as if they are your biological children. We have pets: dogs, cat... and then we have our babies - Greycie and Toby and we had Raven for a time. I still can't look at pictures of Raven without tearing up and I think about her every single day. They do leave a big hole in your heart when gone. You sort of expect a human child will grow and leave which they do but these guys are your babies for life.

We've solved most of our landing area problems by either removing them or hiring help. We removed a chandelier that Greycie was adamant was hers to land in, swing from and chew the wires etc. Now there's a flat ceiling light there, looks better anyway. For stuff that we absolutely won't give in on we hired the frogs picture below. She's scared to death of them. I suppose it's the spots. We found one in a dollar store and used it on our ceiling fan. It's one of those super expensive fans with nice chewy wood propellers that spins really slow but moves a ton of air. She found it irresistible to land on and ride and then eventually chew the blades. The frog now lives up there and Greycie has NEVER been back. Two more of the frogs siblings have been brought in to guard our fireplace mantel and all it's chewable/breakable jewels and my wifes candle assortment that Greycie destroyed.

Funny you mentioned riding your urban pony: We generally train in the garage where Greycie sits on her boing and Toby on his. They love the loud music. Sometimes I'll do easy recovery workouts in the house - this was one of those.

Best outdoor bird enclosure Ive ever seen was done by a guy in Australia. He used an avian netting with simple hog rings to attach it. Ive linked it here before. Will add the link when I find it again. There were sources for the materials he used in the thread. Here's the thread at AvianAvenue I was talking about. His setup is amazing. We have a rear covered porch with ceiling fan and light. It's open on three sides. We plan to enclose it in a similar manner as shown in the thread and extend it down the side of the house. We got quotes to do a fancy walled in structure with glass and two doors - $13K. No thanks that's +10x more than I wanted to spend. Greycie just got her birdroom fixed up so she'll have to wait a bit longer.

Oliver! I like Ollie for short. I have to say though, the cutest boys name I've come across recently is 'Cadbury'.

Also depends on the birdy. Our Greycie CAG goes to bed, with a fight of course, at 9-9:30pm. Our Toby (Caique) starts his wing stretching and leaning towards the birdy room anywhere between 7:30-8:00 pm. They both get up at 7am.

Greycie learned to fart and laugh because we laughed after she did it. Now she gets really loud and boisterous about it doing it multiple times in succession. Of course we reinforced it because it's so funny when she does it. I had a time figuring out what your bird was doing until I read the comments and then it was crystal clear...duh...

I was gonna say, that's the way my BFA used to ride my beach bike, hanging upside down from the handle bars.

My two Greys are/were sort of like having another emotionally needy...ummm...wife? My BFA was like having a drinking buddy around. He was a clown much like my Caique.

Be careful with the humidifier. One of the members here just lost a Grey due to some mold developing in their humidifier. Not sure how you keep the devices from doing that but someone may know.
