  1. How old is Sully? They do eventually gain some level of independence and want to do things their way. Kind of sounds a little like what your describing.
  2. Toby is adorable. He's just a baby still in his face and the way he looks up at you with that little wondering eye look that he does. On the other talon, he will ruthlessly attack Greycie and chase her anywhere he can follow when he gets pissed. She made the mistake of making an enemy of him when he just wanted to be friends. Caiques are notorious for making lifelong friends and enemies. Greycie choose badly. We lost Raven in September and I still tear up when I watch her videos and see some of her photos. I still talk to her as I pass the plant we placed with her when I go in at nights. There's something about these birds that really gets into some of us, moreso than any other 'pet' (I hate calling my birds pets, they are my lil ones). I haven't figured out what it is because they are so unlike us on the 'evolutionary' tree.
  3. Looks like a little feathery squeeze doll. He's a cute one.
  4. I googled whole house fan to see if that's what we have. Several variations came up. We have the one with the monster fan that pulls air from everywhere into one central location and vents it through your roof. The fan happens to lie directly in Greycie's flight path to the laundry area where she directs mommy on how to properly do laundry. I would not for a second be worried that Greycie would get sucked up into that thing. Even so, you could very easily put screen above the collapsible vents to prevent such an occurrence. Our on/off switch is right there under the fan so we could easily turn if off. Ours has two settings Hi/Lo. I seriously doubt the Hi setting could pull Miss Piggy off her intended flight path. That said, I could see a Parrotlet or maybe a conure or our Caique possibly getting pulled up there but again, screening would prevent them going into the turbine. I know Greycie would not fit between the inlet guards. This is the motor/fan we have: http://www.globalindustrial.com/p/hvac/exhaust-fans/fans-whole-house/30-in-comfort-cooler-belt-drive-whole-house-fan-1-2-hp?infoParam.campaignId=T9F&gclid=CMP26Lfq2L0CFQsSMwodHhEAMA My biggest fear concerning the use of this fan is you almost have to open windows to allow it enough circulation to do its job. I don't want windows open enough that Greycie can squeeze through and chew her way through the screen.
  5. Happy Birthday Nilah. Such a pretty bird. The pic makes me miss my Tigger.
  6. Nice video! Peck has the same thoughts I do: all that stuff hanging around has some serious potential! I definitely agree his bottom beak is overgrown. He can't close his beak all the way. Nothing a vet cant fix. I wonder if he doesn't do the typical parrot beak grind? I assume that's what keeps that bottom beak nice and trimmed. Some questions for you: - where did you get that hanging rope net? I need one of those for my bird room - what are the ceiling protectors you are using? - the fluorescent mop thingy looking ball. Where'd you get that? My caique would kill to have that. Well, my caique would kill for any reason because he's 10 ft tall and bullet proof but that's another story.
  7. Right Dan, I've checked her schedule. It's free and clear to keep us updated and fully informed - haahaaa. Now where's those homecoming photos!
  8. This is exciting and I don't even live there.
  9. The problem is, Greycie wasn't supposed to be eating nor prepping the head of broccoli. She will not eat broccoli. Head Chef (aka mommy), turned her back for a few minutes and then hollered for me to get the camera quick. The only other issue is, I know that the brocolli on the floor down there is sure to end up in whatever I'll be eating for dinner tonight. There is no 5-second rule when a parrot has been involved around our house.
  10. Sous Chef: . Now that has been clearly defined - this is the current Sous Chef at Sterling-Ranch:
  11. I'm starting to think a video of their first meeting would be even better. How long is quarantine? I have a vested interest as, one of these days, my 25 year old CAG will hopefully be coming back into the fold and Greycie will have to meet and hopefully accept her.
  12. Peck doesn't know how lucky he is. I can't wait to see pics. You should get pics of their first meeting once quarantine is over to. Those are always fun to look back on.
  13. That's for sure. The only thing that trumps a dictatorial Green Cheeky is a Caique - 10 ft tall and bullet proof. Haahaa
  14. Those green cheeks are special. My daughter stole mine
  15. Does she have any of those stainless toys we keep seeing posted? Seems like a good candidate for a noisy clangy type. She's a cutie! I kept waiting for her to give a good toss off the counter.
  16. Haahaaa....Marco....you go grillll!!!!!
  17. Greycie can attest this to be true. She pulled a heavy glass dish to the edge and made it walk the plank. I only found the pieces. She had to have dragged it close to the edge and somehow worked it the rest of the way by side-to-side pushing I'm guessing.
  18. Would Miss Dayo mind sharing the ingredients in her meal?
  19. It's been a tough winter. Birdy's know best.
  20. Interesting you posted this. We were looking at the hanging gym this morning and figured it was plain PVC. Thought about buying a small piece and hitting it gently with a propane torch and seeing if I can mold it similar. I contacted Dee about getting a couple more but we're just going to copy this one. This computer balanced horse pile mumbo jumbo that you get fed via her website and email is definitely a crock. It's a great product but it's not rocket science. You can definitely see where they've applied the heat and twisted and turned to get it into the config that's delivered. Probably bubba out back with a blow torch.
  21. KimKim, I'd just pull the catcher and attach toys. My little Caique spends most of his time swinging from the hanging parts. I can already tell Greycie will do what any smart bird will do - staying away from the bottom. Another still shot!
  22. Here it is with my two willing test subjects testing it out. Temporarily hung by a string from an air vent just for a video. I love how portable it is. Beats moving a cage around. I was at first put off by how light this thing is. It makes it feel like one bite from Greycie and it's toast. The more I've messed with it though, it's pretty sturdy. There is one toy hanging with the alphabet blocks, that did not come with it. The rest in the video minus the two feather heads came straight out of the box. We like it so much, my wife wants two more. Not sure I can deal with the wait though. We'll see. The lady that you order these from has some real crappy video samples. Before I ordered I asked if there were any better pics/videos. It fell on deaf ears. Hope these are less crappy than hers.
  23. Patience of a saint. Oh and you too BaileysPapa.
