I thought the same thing: "how many of these pics you gonna need there boss?" haaahaaa..... He's such a cutie even without his proper feathers. I always love seeing their downy feathers. Makes me wanna squeeze them (and get bit ).

Well, it's only been a few hours since I picked it up, I'm over it. If we really like it, we had intended to order 1 or 2 more. I'll just have to place my order and know that I'll be waiting 2-3 months. Knowing that going in would be a lot easier to handle. What I didn't like was that NOTHING was happening unless I actually emailed to pester her about it. I don't like pestering people (notice I waited a half month to a month between inquiries). So I'm now wondering if I ordered and just shut my trap for 2-3 months, would it take 6 months this time? Haahaa....

Well, it finally arrived. I paid for it on Jan 14th and today is 3/27. So 2.5 months once my order was placed it finally arrived. I'm pretty patient but this was really testing the limits. I got sick and tired of the constant apologies. Repeated apologies in my book are nothing more than someone's excuse to continue to do as they damn well please. Basically here's timeline of how it went down: 1/14 - order placed 1/28 - I inquired about the hanging gym wanting to know a possible delivery date as I had intentions to order another if this one was of good quality etc.. 2/1 - She can't offer a shipping date until the orders are completed and delivered to her. Ok, now I know she's just a damn middleman.. I'm told general wait time is 4-5 weeks. ....I wait another month.... 2/26 - Same line " I normally cannot provide a shipping date until the orders have actually been completed and delivered to me." BUT!....my hanging gym is apparently in it's final stages of completion and set to be delivered to her on Saturday afternoon. Well, hot damn! ....I wait another half month.... 3/12am - "I guess my hanging gym wasn't in the order you were supposed to get half month ago?" 3/12pm - "ARBF just delivered a large batch of orders about 20 minutes ago...your Parrot Play Tree included...." What a coincidence! I have excellent timing I guess. 3/13 - USPS signature confirmation received - finally. ....I wait 9 days expecting a delivery maybe!.... 3/19 - "I see no tracking on USPS with the number provided?!?" - more worthless sorrys - and then some crap about her being in a remote location, parcels aren't picked up until they have enough to warrant shipping... At this point I'm wondering if I've been had. 3/22 - Finally on March 22nd I see the package has actually been shipped - 9 F'ing days after being told it was shipped and receiving shipping confirmation number. I figure I'll hold off on reviewing the actual item because right now I just want to saw it up into pieces and ship it back to her with some llama shit. If you're in for a hanging gym - I DO NOT RECOMMEND ORDERING THROUGH PARROT PLAY WORLD. Supposedly they come from ARBF whatever that is. Maybe cut her useless middleman crap out and order direct?

Advice on choosing a grey as my companion - I need people's input
SRSeedBurners replied to GCedric's topic in The GREY Lounge
I'm of the opinion that a lone Grey kept in a cage is akin to holding something in solitary confinement. I got a Grey at about the same time as my manager at work. His Grey is home alone with a TV for companionship from 8-6pm M-F. He's already having trouble with plucking and behavioral issues. Mine is at home with my wife and a Caique. She (my Grey) wants to fight with the Caique when they are together but when they are apart they contact call and really want to be together. Typical 'siblings'. I really think they do better with a buddy bird, even of different species, if you can't be with them. Don't discount a Caique. They are AMAZING birds. I love my Grey and I love my Caique in very different ways. The Caique is a much better cage bird. Ours is perfectly fine in his cage raging on his toys all day long whereas my Grey will solemnly sit there and wait for her out of cage time. I know this because I have a camera and when my wife is away she will lock them up as I don't trust them together without supervision. You might also look at one of the Poicephalus birds. They are great apartment birds too. Some of the best. -
New To Bird Care, and Have lots of Questions!!!

I'm also wondering about getting the collar off and using something like a sock buddy? I would start plucking if I had to wear that collar 24/7. -
Craigslist will rid that mesh. Raw materials always go fast on CL as long as it's not damaged. Can't wait to see pics with models in place.

I'm always amazed how fast those feathers grow back.

Greycie prefers proper lodging with complimentary breakfasts

Noticed same thing here. Our Greycie is most pliable around bed time. She's a cuddly bird to begin with but she really pours on the sugar around that time. It's the only time she'll reach up and hold my finger and softly nip. It's really sweet. Sometimes in the middle of the day she'll act like she doesn't even know me - weirdos they can be.

Great pics! I love seeing the Green Cheeky, I have a soft spot for those.

I would love to be sitting under that tree watching them. I just love African Greys. -
Newbie, needing new Grey Friends
SRSeedBurners replied to tamuwi's topic in Welcome & Introduction Room
Ha...he got off better than I did. I lost three of my babies when I was 24 to a divorce, I got them when I was 19: a conure, Blue Front Amazon and a CAG. The ex-wife hit hard times (should have stayed my dear) and had to re-home the BFA and the CAG to my aunt. The BFA died a couple of years ago but the CAG is still going strong. My aunt is pushing 80, I'm pushing 45 and expecting that I will take the CAG back in. Your story is similar to mine. Glad your babies are all back together again. I know the CAGs never forget. I saw mine after 20 years and she still remembered me. Yours will remember the flock I'm sure. Welcome to the forums. -
You put it better than I could. I always have it in the back of my head that they didn't choose to live the life of a captive parrot so I have to rein myself in sometimes. They are the sweetest things even when they're being an absolute pill.

That's exciting stuff. Ours is months away if not longer. Post pics when you get'r done.

Will become a new owner hopefully and need some advice
SRSeedBurners replied to Max313's topic in Welcome & Introduction Room
Where at in Tx? I live in N.Tx. I wouldn't band the Grey if not already banded. Definitely get the information/paperwork WHILE getting the bird. We have on two occasions been promised paperwork after funds were exchanged and never received anything. One was through a 'rescue' and they flat out lied to us. The second was from the 'breeder' which I'm now led to believe she wasn't really the breeder. If you're contacting someone from the Dallas area, more specifically Mesquite or Forney, contact me privately and we'll see if you're dealing with the same person. Your story sounds very similar to how we got our Caique. He's a great bird but I have nothing on his background, unbanded etc.... -
Wonder if he would need some special diet items to help with the feather regeneration?

Is My perry starting to talk?
SRSeedBurners replied to Habbeshaw's topic in Welcome & Introduction Room
Do you have any other birds that he's learning from? My CAG learns from my wife and my Caique. Both are separate voices with the 'Caique' voice being the robotic gravely voice as you mentioned which is common to Caiques, IRNs, parrotlets and others. -
please say a prayer for zoey

Hoping for the best for Zoey and the ones who love her. -
Whatever you do, don't step out of the kitchen and leave fresh whipped cream on the other side of the counter. I'm sure Greycie took the short cut and flew across the kitchen to get to the goods but lil Toby probably made the mad sprint all the way around the countertop, across the stove and slid into home base. I was outside and came in and this is what I saw. The head chef was missing.

Much better choice. I didn't like that first option at all.

She's a cutie!

These birds can be weird. My manager has a Grey that is the same age as mine. He came in one day startled telling me his bird completely plucked herself bald under her wings and down to her preen gland. A wheelbarrow full of money in vet visits later and no answer but her feathers are coming back. Something caused her to do this but damned if the vet can figure it out. He also started applying Aloe spray based on my recommendation but who knows if that helped any.
