  1. What neat pics from all! I enjoyed them, thanks for sharing
  2. I've never noticed that so don't know what to do about it. Having said that, I'd better keep my fingers crossed. It will probably start happening!
  3. Hello and welcome to you and your new grey Have you read the thread in the rescue room? I would advise you to. There is lots of good advice there on rescuing/rehoming a grey. Here is the url http://www.greyforums.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?27-Rescue-Bird-Haven Start slowly and let your bird set the pace. Sounds like your bird was in a sad situation, but they are very intelligent and will usually respond to positive change. 7 is still young in grey years. Good luck and God bless
  4. Yes, cool pics. Thanks for sharing!
  5. Here's hoping letting Nilah out in the morning continues to work for you! My schedule has changed and I'm not able to let Timber out in the mornings like I did in the past. Fortunately, he doesn't seem to mind. Hubby retired, so he is there with him all day now and they have a lot better relationship than they previously did. On the downside, hubby still doesn't trust himself to leave Timber out. He still can't "handle" him without a bite. I'm hoping that will change as time passes.
  6. Cute! Calm indeed. Timber would shred the hat and any finger close enough to try to hold it on...
  7. Welcome to you and Sonny I'm looking forward to hearing more about your life together and seeing some baby pics
  8. Same thing happened with a different item my sister and I were ordering on Amazon for my mom. She sent me the link and asked me to order it (she listed the price). When I pulled it up, it was $2 higher. I called her and she went and looked again. Even after clearing the cache, the prices were different on her computer and mine. Odd indeed! I've been replacing mine yearly. Guess I need to do it even more often!
  9. http://www.amazon.com/Zoo-Med-Avian-Sun-Bulb/dp/B000KH9S88/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1382883145&sr=8-1&keywords=avian+sun+bulb $23.48 on Amazon today. Wonder is the price fluctuates day to day. Strange!
  10. Petco gives the following: 48" L X 36" W X 76" H Interior Height: 50" Wire Spacing: 1" Black SKU: 1544390 If the full height is 76" and the interior of cage measures 50" high it seems the playtop would be 26" tall? That's the way I interpret it. It looks like there are a few inches at the bottom though, so that would not be entirely accurate depending on whether they were measuring the total height with or without the leg/caster assembly. http://www.petco.com/product/118175/AAndE-Cage-Company-48-X-36-Play-Top-Bird-Cage.aspx
  11. LOL! Same could be said from the female perspective for many of us
  12. I took the arm off the stand and mounted it on the wall where I needed it. I really don't know about the one in the link you posted. When I was researching before I bought mine, there are many contradictory statements and web references about all of the avian lights available. Another thing, the Avian Sun bulb works in a standard socket.
  13. Looks great! I'm making my latest attempt with quinoa and 15-bean mix as the base. I have to keep my fingers crossed though, Timber is picky and it will probably end up on the wall... ;(
  14. I know how you feel. I look Timber over every day (droppings, manner, eyes, behavior) like he is the crown prince. I'm not sure I was that observant with my kids! In fact, I'm pretty sure I wasn't. On the other hand, since they hide illness we have to be vigilant.
  15. Hello and welcome to you and Gracie! I'm a relative newbie, but my advice would be to have everything ready, food, toys, etc. I assume you will be bringing her cage with her, which is good if it is in good shape. One familiar thing for her at least. Read up on the threads on grey body language. Give Gracie plenty of time to get used to you and her new environment. Let her set the pace with interaction. Remember that the first few days are known as the "honeymoon" period, so don't be upset if she seems to regress after that. It is normal as she adjusts. I'm so excited for you! Post some pics when you get a chance and keep us posted on your progress
  16. Sounds like you need another cornbread mix to the amount of other stuff you are adding Sterling, or just add plain cornmeal until it is thick enough.
  17. LOL! Wonder how they got him to sit still for that...
  18. Timber is a TAG, and on a good day he tips the scales at 276 grams. I've never tried to measure height. Timber's vet said that he is "small" but appears to be at a healthy weight for him. Oh well! Their size doesn't change the way we feel about them.
  19. Timber loves meatloaf (no he doesn't get much of it). He would think calling me that was high praise indeed!
  20. I need a food processor (the big ones) for some of the stuff I cook. They are a pain to drag out and cleanup. Mine is a Cuisanart that I have had for about 5 years. I used to buy cheap stuff, but as I've gotten older I've realized that it is better to bite the bullet and buy the more expensive kind if you are a heavy user. I have a Kitchenaid mixer for the same reason. That said, I try to group my work with the food processor. I.e. when I know I'm going to use it for cooking I make Timber's stuff at the same time. That way, I only have to clean it up once. It's all a matter of scheduling
