  1. Nala is looking good! Great to hear from you and glad things are going so well
  2. I'm not sure about aloe gel. Everything I've seen says to use the liquid to spray. What are you doing with the gel? I'm confused, sorry.
  3. Cool pics! Timber isn't having any on the swing either.
  4. Hello and welcome Amanda! I would think an 8 month old is still a baby. Someone with more experience will probably have more to say
  5. I try to spray Timber daily because he likes it. There is a difference between a spray and a full bath. Timber likes being sprayed, but does not open his feathers when I spray him. In other words, it isn't getting to his skin. When he is ready for a real bath, he will splash around in his water bowl. I get the pan I use for him to bathe (think 8x8 or 9x14 glass baking dish) and put some nursery water (untreated, purified, no additives) in the pan. Then he will go at it on his own, dipping his head, feathers, tail etc. throwing it over his shoulders, and gets really soaked to the skin. Others with more experience will probably give additional advice
  6. Remember how small your bird really is (weight-wise). When I rehomed Timber, I was concerned that he didn't seem to be eating much. Someone pointed out they he doesn't eat much (as in comparison to a cat for instance). Timber picks at his vegetables. He eats a bit, but not a lot. In my case, that is the best I can hope for.
  7. I hadn't thought about that with animal planet. Timber doesn't seem to pay any attention to the tv and has never picked up words or sounds from it that I can tell. I think of it as company and white noise more than anything.
  8. That is my opinion too for what it is worth (a game). Timber and hubby have a game where Gary puts his hand on the cage and Timber lunges at it. He puts his hand on another part and Timber quickly runs there and lunges at it. The point being that Timber grabs and bars and not Gary's hand when he gets there. He will continue as long as Gary is willing. When Timber wants to bite, he bites. When he wants to play he lunges and "pretends" to bite.
  9. That is exactly what I did. Purchased a bowl that attaches. It is bigger than his food bowls as well.
  10. I'm sure I've read somewhere on here they they don't cough.
  11. I leave the tv on for Timber tuned to Animal Planet while I am at work. Does he watch or care? Who knows!
  12. Yes, what a story of survival! Makes me remember the threads I've seen about emergency preparedness. We all really need to do that, be prepared for the worst because you never know when it may happen.
  13. Wow, love the toy! I wonder if Timber would love it or be afraid... problem is I never know until I have already purchased.
  14. They are very unique in their preference on toys. I don't have any "toy" that holds Timber's attention for long (well except for his bells). I rotate what I have about every 2 weeks and he'll mess with them some, but not all that much. His favorite "toy" is a cardboard box or paper sack. It is what it is!
  15. Hello and welcome to you and Kuku! He's a handsome grey. It sounds like you are making progress! It is slow but it comes... I can see that from experience
  16. awww... He's so pretty! What a nice addition to you "flock." I'm glad he is giving Greycie "what for" instead of bending the knee. They will probably end up with a good relationship
  17. No clue on this one either. As Rick suggested, I would try a water bowl instead of the bottle and see what happens.
  18. Hello and welcome to you and Tequila! You have a beautiful baby there. Thanks for the intro and the pics!
  19. Very cool pics! Kizzy is looking beautiful Thanks for sharing!
  20. Well, Woooo is certainly better than some of the names they come up with for us!
  21. From what I've read, it depends on the bird. Some are scared of the mirror, seeing it as another bird, while others love looking at themselves. Sounds like a trial and error thing to me!
  22. Yes it is! I love to go to the twice yearly bird fair, but it is always bittersweet. I find neat stuff and love looking at the birds, but there is always that tug to take a particularly friendly or needy looking one home with me...
