  1. LOL He is probably waiting until you aren't watching!
  2. Hurray for progress! Isn't it great? Funny, the same thing happened with Timber. He was biting when we brought him home, and I didn't realize the first couple of times he put his beak on my arm that he was testing for strength and stability before he stepped up. I would pull away fast because I thought he was getting ready to bite. I read someone's post here about that and sure enough, the next time he pushed at my arm with his beak then stepped up. That's is what is great about the forum. You read other people posts and figure out what is going on.

    Chop

I can't find anything Timber will eat much of. He will take a bite of several things, but not much more. Hopefully, that's all he needs in addition to his purchased food. The skewer with fresh vegetables caught his interest for a few days, now it mostly just hangs there. Same with the greens I was threading in the cage bars, the birdie bread I make, the seeds I sprout, etc. etc. I haven't made my own chop yet, but have been buying the Higgins worldly cuisine, which he will eat a bite of. He does eat about half of the quarter slice of toast I give him in the morning with almond butter.
  4. What a cool pic! Does that happen often or did you just happen to catch it?

    Chop

I will definitely check it out when I have more time tomorrow!
  6. Hopefully Bubba's weight will come right back up now that his "issue" is gone. Timber was up another gram today (every other week weighing)!

    Chop

Great, thanks! Once I can get going on the proportions I'll be fine. I really like to cook, it's just a matter of having a starting point. These recipes will help a lot. I watched the video some time ago of the lady showing how to make it, but she didn't give amounts. I'm creativity impaired and needed more specifics!

    Chop

That's great thanks! Just what I was looking for but not finding.
  9. It is so difficult to know what is going on with them. It reminds me of the kids when they were 1-2 years old. I could tell something was wrong (like an illness) but when they can't verbalize the problem it is so frustrating.
  10. I'm with you Nancy. Bad habit, but it's diet pepsi all day every day here! I've given up my other vices long ago, and I'm keeping this one!
  11. I doubt I will ever stop experimenting, but I need to get past my anxiety. I think he has a solid diet (at least what the picky boy will eat). I do alternate his veggies weekly so he doesn't get totally burned out. That's a good point about others caring for him eventually though. I have to admit he is one spoiled baby!
  12. Romeo looks like a sweetheart! Thanks for sharing the pics, we love 'em here

    Chop

Great! I have mixed some stuff up but still struggle with proportions. I'm a "recipe" type gal and need a solid starting point on the proportions (i.e. how much grain to how much vegetable etc.). Thanks to everyone else who posted links. Very helpful!
  14. I'm glad you said that about them being happy with the same thing. I'm always trying to find something new to feed Timber. Now that his weight is up, I need to cease and desist. He's eating pretty well now, so I will just be satisfied
  15. Interesting! I wonder, again, if it has something to do with the kids being gone? I had a cat who lived to be 17 and died a couple of years ago. He "mothered" the youngest cat for reasons I never understood. The younger cat never bonded with any of us. After Callie died, his personality changed dramatically. Now he is all over all of us. My point is, if the "chosen" one isn't around, may it's a "love the one you are with" thing and Sophie is being kind to Sunny! Who knows what goes on in their fascinating little minds.
  16. Timber (TAG) is supposed to be about 5. He is a rehome, so I will never know for sure. All I do know is that he is an adult and not a baby! If you are concerned, there are things you can do to help your bird live a long life. See the threads about diet, lighting, etc. If you have already done so, I apologize, but you never know. Birds, like people and other pets, can die before their time from disease, genetic defects etc. I just pray over Timber daily and do all I know to do to give him what he needs to thrive.
  17. It is endlessly frustrating, but in Timber's case he does 98% of his talking to get my attention. That means I am in another room and can't make out a lot of what he says. I can hear some on the webcam now that I have most of the background noise eliminated. Hopefully, he knows some "family friendly" words!

    Chop

I would really, really like to see someone's basic chop recipe (including amounts). I understand you can just throw safe things in, but it would be helpful to newbies (especially anal ones like me) to have a basic recipe to start with! If anyone is willing, please post!
  19. LOL Timber loves getting wet, but he looks mad and disgruntled no matter how happy he is when he is that wet!
  20. Thanks for sharing that! I don't give a vitamin supplement per the posts on this forum. I have to say that had I not read it here, I would have. I've always taken a lot of supplements myself and made sure the rest of the family gets them. My first instinct was to get something for Timber too. I'm glad I didn't.
