  1. Nice pics! While the bite in a situation like that is just instinct, they can sure be painful. Glad Storm wasn't injured!
  2. I don't have any experience with kids and AG's, but I'm sure an experienced member will address you concerns. I can tell you that I got my rehomed TAG because of a child. The mother said that Timber kept lunging at the bars every time the child was close. He isn't an aggressive bird (normally) so I don't know what was going on there. However, I think young children with their quick, unpredictable movements and shrill voices tend to startle birds. I would think that the bird's and the child's upbringing would have a lot to do with how they interact. From the posts I've read here, most grey's have a "favorite" but interact with and tolerate other family members as well. I spend more time with Timber and do most of his care, but his favorite is my college age son, who isn't around that much during the semester. There is no accounting for taste!
  3. My husband is exactly the same way! Guess I'm not the only one in that boat...
  4. Timber is clipped. In hindsight, with him being a rehome and not handle-able when I brought him home, it was probably the best decision for me. His vet did it the day after I brought him home, and I didn't really know the alternatives at the time. I have four free roaming cats and he is in or close to the kitchen with open flame etc. I'm letting his feathers grow for now and will make the reclipping decision when the time comes. I'm not sure he was ever fully-flighted. At any rate, it is a wait and see thing for me. Circumstances and individual birds and their needs dictate that decision I think.
  5. Hello and welcome Tayla and DJ He is a beautiful baby!
  6. Argh! I know what you mean about the bites. I've taken several the last few days and it does feel like an ear piercing, only not in cartilage! Still trying to figure out the trigger though. Vet told me this morning to take the new toys out of his cage, which I was going to do anyway. Sure hope that is what it is.
  7. I know how you feel Nancy. After months of no aggression, Timber about made hamburger out of my arm yesterday for no reason I can determine. And yes, it hurt my feelings! Still trying to figure it out. He bit me again tonight. He goes to the vet in the morning and I'm going to see what she says. Talk about one step forward and 20 steps back!
  8. Sure wish Timber would trim his own nails. He goes to the vet for that in the morning!
  9. Yes, you never know when progress will happen. Greys certainly teach us the virtues of patience!
  10. Hello and welcome! How exciting to be anticipating the homecoming of your new baby. Good luck and God bless

    Hi all.

Hello and welcome to you and Lilly! Post some pics, we love them!
  12. So sorry to hear about this Nancy. With the holidays, I really haven't seen the news in the past few days so didn't know. What a tragedy!
  13. Wow, Cocoa seems to love the camera. Sure wish Timber did!
  14. Hello and welcome Carl and Chico! Not getting a blood drawing bite there is a miracle I'd say! Chico's pickiness is also not unusual in the grey world, at least from my experience and my reading on the forum here. Good luck and God bless
  15. Keeps him occupied though! That's what I look for in toys.
  16. I've seen the more experienced people on the forum say to leave the egg until she is no longer interested in it.
  17. Here's a link to the toy. http://www.amazon.com/Jungle-Talk-Play-Phone-Large/dp/B000UJURY0/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1356549941&sr=8-2&keywords=bird+talk+and+play Aerial, the tripod idea is a good one if I had a tripod. All I have is a cheap point and shoot and my phone camera.
  18. I'll try to get a pic of him actually using it. Every time I approach with the camera though Timber goes into "frozen bird" status so we'll see! I didn't really know if he would like it or not. I have a lot of toys I bought in the "no go" box already. I was really surprised at the way he took to it. Different strokes indeed! Kave, several reviewers had the same reaction as Sam.
  19. Timber got a talk'n'play for Christmas. He is often iffy about new toys so I thought it would be a long time before he would mess with it. Wrong! He loves it. It is past his bedtime and he is in there punching the buttons in the dark. You just never know!
  20. Every night I play rockband III on xbox (bass) for about an hour. I take Timber into the living room with me and put him on his playstand. He watches, whistles and chirps while I play. He know after this comes cuddle time. Hopefully he enjoys it!
  21. Merry Christmas and blessings to all!
