I hate the name Archie,it used to be one of those names that made my skin crawl,i call him Archie boy and this does not seem to grind me that much and he has picked this up and says hello archie boy

My baby's finally home!!! My first night adventure (and some questions)
xSarahx replied to Artoo's topic in The Nursery
Me and Archie have a constant morning battle with my coffee,i want it,he wants it , i can have it, he cant! he does this little noise which i know means give it to me now! of course i never let him because of the caffiene anyway one morning i had the cup by the side of me on the floor,Archies flew over to it landed on the rim and sent the cup flying with the bit i always leave at the bottom soaking him,He was not amused but i found it very funny :D still has not taught him though -
I have seen a baby CAG i would like , we have a cage for when it is still a baby but i was wondering if we would need to buy another cage when its older or can i let it share with Archie?? Archie will let one of my Tiels go in hes cage eat hes food play with hes toys, sleep baically do what it wants in there, wether Archie is in there or not , but they go there seperate cages at night, does this mean he will let another grey in there??

What ones are the flight feathers??the black ones ??

Hiya i cannot comment on the name change although i have read somewhere if the bird is saying his name then no you cant change it as it will confuse him, thats why we stuck with `Archie` As for the male/female thing.....We got Archie from a single male owner,Iam the chosen one and my hubby was hated at first but now tolerated,so i dont think that is going to be a problem at all Archie is 2 years old
-
Doesnt grabbing their beak scare them?
-
Same here,we was going to have a Greenw ing macaw first, but thats a different story but hopefully one day we will get one
-
Welcome

Thats exactly what i thought when i read about it being allowed out,Archie makes a ton more mess when he is out rather than in!! Thats all iam personally saying on this matter as i was taught if i have not got anything nice to say then dont speak

I had 2 cockatiels for a year before i got my CAG,and it has made no difference to my feeling like a complete novice and at times inadequet (ive got to stop trying to use this big words i dont know how to spell lol) My tiels are not tame,so mayby they meant get tame ones??..anyway We got our CAG Archie on a whim,i was scared of birds and would have a near on heart attack when ever my tiels flew,my hubby wanted a grey,so off we went, didnt research nothing i stupidly assumed it would be the same as the tiels but just wants cuddles every now and then, the plan was i wouldnt go near due to my fear my hubby would do all the work, what do you think has happened?? Archie bearly `tolerates` my hubby and iam the chosen one,i cannot do anything without my baby attached to me and if i leave the room without him it is not peaceful as he contact calls me,which ofcourse i return.but you know what,i wouldnt have it any other way!!i love my baby and knowing my baby loves me makes everything worth while I notice the whole mess thing has not been approached, now this i deffinatly wish i new, if you are house proud a grey is not a wise choice,i was very house proud and still am although it is a struggle,my lovely £2000 leather reclining sofa is ruined!it has been chewed to an inch of its life , my curtains are now in the bin , i was going to get blinds but not now! I can honestly say i have never heard Archie scream, but then iam at home all day , aat most he is left for 1-2 hours once or twice a week while i go shopping,he is out of hes cage from the minute i wake up ,about 730 am untill 8pm,if he contact calls me i answer nearly every time This website is deffinatly the best i have come across, any concerns are helped and any questions are answered, sorry i cannot compare to a Too but i have never even seen one so yea lol

How a 'routine' vet visit turns into an emergency.
xSarahx replied to oblivion's topic in Health Room
I suppose were lucky over here,If like us you are on a low income we have this special vets called PDSA , which you can go to free and get all medicens free. They do ask for a donation towards all this but you dont have to pay anything,i always pay what i can afford which 90% of the time is the whole bill, the only things they charge you for is vacinations, spade and castration, but even these are half the price of a normal vet This is only for `domestic` animals, not birds, but we have been looking at insurance for our birds as it will cost us £100.00 just to see a vet as apposed to £20 a month to insure -
What else can i feed him as he does not eat fruit or vegetables,i have tried them all in different ways, all he wants is my human food which iam not the healthiest person hehe all he eats is grapes and nuts
-
I saw in my pet shop they have another harness that is a third of the price of an aviator one , but does not come with a dvd, should i buy this one or do you recommend sticking to the aviator?

I gave Archie hes own keboard yesterday and for the first couple of minutes he was scared of it ...mines black his is white, when i helped him realise what it is he took a whole 10 minutes to rip all the keys off then took me 20 mins to get them all back on and so on and so on
