  1. Welcome and sounds like you have done a good job , look forward to your pictures
  2. I didnt know you could do this??..iam glad i now do know as it will deffinalty be something i will get when buying a baby and IMO a good breeder wont mind singing one
  3. Sorry Talon i thought i had answered you??hmmm, anyway, thanks to all 3 of you for confirming my suspitions , i have desided to stay well away as she just does not know anything about these birds, plus i dont feel quite ready for another bird yet alone 2!! as i would like to have some time just with Archie first,as i said in another post i want a timneh for christmas lol
  4. Welcome, i have a CAG but will be getting a TAG for christmas
  5. I to have my cages open from the moment i wake up until an hour before i go to bed,and i have made alot of adjusments in my living room to make sure my birds are safe, but like wingy said i would never of thought about sucking any of them up in a hoover,i mean who would be sooo stupid as to put the hoover end anywhere near their birds??
  6. First off i will say i cannot believe how much one bird can poop!i go through half a packet of wipes a day and the blankets i use to cover my sofa only lasts a day before i have to wash it,and i have to mop the bird room floor a few times a day,yet i dont mind , it only takes a minute to clean up But when my parents come round to my house i dare to have missed one bit of poop behind the telly or something thats it i get the full scale lecture...how can you live with that, its disgusting, get rid of the bird , hes ruining your house blah blah blah now that is what makes me angry and gives me the ump! Why do people feel they can come into your home, which is also all of your anilmals home, and tell you what to do with it and look down their nose in disgust at one tiny bit of poop
  7. Thanks ameli i have just orederd my birds lots and lots of new toys etc from scarlettes clearence section, cant wait to get the pacakge now

    Eating habits

I done Archie an omelete made with brocolli and cauliflower today, he hasnt even sniffed it and he has turned hes nose up,he can be so ignorant some times lol
  9. Hiya , my hubby came home from work today and told me someone from his work has offered him 2 `baby` timneh greys, one male one female, but it all sounds abit dodgey to me she doesnt know how old they are because she says they do not come out of their nesting boxes the female has a white spot in one of her eyes and the male has no feathers on his head we can have both for £500 , normally one baby timneh grey goes for £495 over here There is alot to consider with this even if i was told this all sounds `normal` which i dought any of you are going to say ,but it would deffinatly help the desition if i was told my feelings on this are correct she calls herself a breeder but to me how can you be a good breeder if you dont even know how old the chicks are.....i dont know anything about breeding so i could be completly wrong with that statement
  10. This is exactly what this forum has done for me and my baby, the food thread is excellent on here , lots of recipies that i have tried, any questions you have get answered i have just felt alot more confident with my baby sinse joining this site , so welcome and good luck finding your baby,or should i say letting your baby find you
  11. Thanks for that i must admit i hadnt thought of a few of them,so thanks again
  12. I would like to have Archie in the dinning room with us,as i still dont get to eat in peace as such because he spends the whole time calling me which makes me feel really guilty but my hubby wont have it,he has strict rules about any of our animlas being in the dinning room when we are eating, but very soon he wont have a choice as we are knocking the wall down between the living/bird room and the dinning room to open it all up,then the now dinning room will become the bird room with perches and toys every where sooo excited and we are getting a smaller table so it sstill fits in there with the cages , then me and my baby will never be seperated :D
  13. I think its time i joined ..I have read a fair few of this post but not all Archie is deffinatly a biter, most of the time it is my familys fault for not listning to me telling them the signs that they choose to ignore then get nailed,i on the other hand after doing lots and lots of research and asking questions about biting know most of the signs aim going to get bit if i dont back off,but what gets me is (as most of you have said) the bites i get that seem for me no real reason,he will be sitting on my shoulder iam as still as anything he runs down my chest just to bit my finger out of the blue??luckily they dont hurt , ive been nailed countless times this morning but i know that is because he is sulking with me because i showered him this morning and he has still not forgiven me lol but again he was on my shoulder crawled down to my leg and kept biting my hand for no real apparent reason?other then the sulking There is 2 i would class as `worst` bites from`archie for different reasons, 1st is i stuck my finger through hes cage he grabbed it and clamped his claws in then clamped hes mouth round it and got harder and harder , i had read to not react so i tried my hardest even though i was convinced he was goign to break it then he let go phewww 2nd was he was on my shoulder (i had no bra on,just a top) he crawled down and nailed my nipple, now that one really hurt even though it was just a quick thing
  14. Awww that sounds lovely!!,i have been on this site only a week or so and these guys have taught and helped me sooo much already Archie is quiet when iam in the room but as soon as i leave he is really vocal until i come back,i keep trying to teach him `mum` but he has not picked it up yet
  15. I share my breakfast and lunch with him , i say share i cut him off a big enough piece (plus iam a fast eater) that it lasts him until i finish, brekkie is crumpets,he takes hes bit then thats that, lunch he has a bit of my crust,i dont sit there and let him bite my food while i eat it, dinner times my family sit at the dinner table which is in a seperate room which no animlas are allowed in so i get that to myself
  16. Archies a cheeky little so and so when it comes to food,he used to take the bit i gave him and be quite happy with that, past few days he has spat it out straight away,i put the same bit on my plate then offer it to him and he eats it
  17. Hiya and welcome I have had my first Grey for just about a month now (2 year old rehome) and he is still amazing me everyday with more and more he shows me and lets me do, i have noticed with Archie he seems to like a stroke/scratch of an evening and that is it,during the day he will happily sit on my shoulder/lap/back where ever but if i try and stroke him he will bite me,not hard but enough so i know he does not want it,if he is on my lap he will just back away. But he is quite happy to nick my food and drink off me!Some nights he will lap up my love and turn his head to where he wants my finger while i give him a good scratch and some nights 2/3 strokes is enough,he does not really like a full body stroke ,just around hes head and under hes beak,he also likes to fly to my and sit on my head for a while during the day and play with my hair
  18. Thank you everyone , i panicked this morning, he has been hes normal self all day,i did check it over but i couldnt see anything so mayby it is just residue from the grapes, but i will keep my eyes peeled,i thought they could have as many a day as they liked so i always leave about 8 in his bowl over night,i wont be doing that now!
  19. I come down stairs this morning to see this on Archie,is this something i need to take him to the vets for do you think or what??,he is flying ok and being his normal self but this morning i was very worried,i did try doing this post then but i couldnt get the pictures to work on my laptop, anyway, the blood has gone now so what do you think??i have put a picture of his perch up as that is the only different thing in hes cage , no feathers, he does have red grapes in hes fruit bowl Top of wing Sorry they are abit blurry i had to be quick cas he kept trying to eat my phone
  20. Ebay, as i cannot seem to find a good UK site that sells all the bits, granted iam not the best at searching Thank you for that link judygram,i have had a good read and iam pleased as i was going to buy venetian blinds for the room but i wont be now

  22. From a shop, £700 average for bird (african grey) £500 for cage Rehome a bird average price for an african grey is £500 with cage ,£800 for cockatoo with cage , £1200.00 for a macaw with cage I dont know the price a year as not had Archie that long
