The reason I asked if you had hand fed her is because I was wondering if she could be asking her "mate" to feed her, but I'm sure she'a way young for this anyway. Kim

Thank you for the information. I had read, or heard, that greys prefer smaller cages but had no idea if it was true or not. I'm thinking about putting a smaller cage inside the big cage for my baby. Then eventually leave the door of the smaller cage open and hope that over time he would just stop going in the smaller one. Kim

I don't actually have him yet. The breeder I'm getting him from is not new to breeding parrots but this is her first CAG clutch. She's up in Elma WA. She just said if I have a preference she would wean him to it. I've asked her what she plans on using if I don't have a preference, but I haven't heard back yet. Kim

This is TOTALLY of the subject but........ I would love to one day meet a man that loves animals as much as the men I've "met" through forums and email groups. My ex husband only really liked dogs, and a man I was dating for a while wanted me to get rid of most of my animals, got rid of him instead. LOL Kim

I agree 100%. I saw a picture of my dog on line, fell in love, and bought her. I had to wait for her to "wean" and she was 10 1/2 weeks old by the time I made the 6 hr (one way) drive to go get her. I still have her and wouldn't trade her for anything. I was going to go meet the baby greys once old enough (I've been waiting for eggs to hatch) and wanted one to choose me. But the breeder is letting me have a baby that she was going to keep. So all of a sudden I have a baby boy that's around 9 weeks old. Not only did he not choose me, I didn't really "choose" him. But there was no way I was going to turn him down. Kim

I agree with Doug, let him stay in the carrier and let him choose when and where to come out. It could take a long time, but I think his comfort level is very important and it will help his level of trust grow. A long time ago I read? heard? that greys often don't like big cages, feeling more comfortable in a smaller one, but I figured it was most likely the ones that were kept in small cages from the beginning. ?? My breeder asked if I had a preference of pellet to wean my baby onto because she would use it. I'm new to greys and pellets. Any suggestions?? Kim

LOL! If I were Kelleigh I think I would actually like it, but I do see how it could be complicated. I don't know yet when I'll be able to bring him home. Kim
