I don't think it's silly, I'm the same way. I always think that I'm not going to say anything then before I know it I've told all. LOL How is Charley doing today? Kim

The breeder I’m getting my baby from was at her daughters today and her daughters place is a little bit closer to me. So I drove up to meet her and the 4 baby CAG’s she has now, and to take the linnies to her (I’m trading 6 Lineolated Parakeets for a baby CAG). The oldest baby is 8 weeks old today, the next is 8 weeks old tomorrow, the other two are about a week younger. My very first thought when I saw them was: OMG they are big!! Wow, I had no idea an 8 week old baby CAG was so big. LOL My baby should be hatching within a week or so and even though it’s hard to wait it will be great to be able to watch him/her grow from day one. Unfortunately it will mostly be through pictures because it’s a 2 hr drive. However I do plan to visit at least a couple of times. She hasn’t started with these babies yet but she trains her babies to flight suits. She’s going to send me pictures of the suits she uses. Kim

You'll be/do fine. It sounds like you have help just a call away and you said even house calls. I've hand fed several birds and, knock on wood, have not yet had a problem. And I knowingly made the decision to bring the babies home before weaned. The main thing is if you any doubts or concerns, ask right away. Kim

Many bird species come in different mutations, i.e. colors. Lovebirds are one of them. Depending on the genetics of the parents each baby in one clutch could be a different mutation (color). I breed Lineolated Parakeets, they have mutations but only a few. Kim

Great pictures. Thank you so much for sharing. I can't wait to get my baby. Kim

What a sweet looking baby!! I'm waiting for eggs to hatch right now and one just might hatch on my birthday, next Sunday!! Kim

I hope it's OK if I just stick this here instead of starting a whole new thread. But I have 2 of this cage empty (I bought 3 used at 3 different times through Craig's List). One will be my CAG's cage but I can eventually replace it if it's not really good enough. I paid $100 for 2 of them and only $50 for 1, so for $250 I got 3 cages, http://www.petco.com/product/114150/Petco-Designer-Mink-Brown-Standing-Parrot-Cage.aspx Kim

Hello from SE WI, new Grey guardian
Kimijean replied to Wulfgeist's topic in Welcome & Introduction Room
Welcome! I'm new here as well. My baby CAG is just an egg right now. But if all goes well I'll be able to bring him/her home in less then 4 months! Kim -
How exciting!! My baby is an egg right now and they live at least 2 hrs away so I won't be able visit very often. I also don't care if my baby is a boy or girl but intend to DNA. It's good to know and I would like to pick a name accordingly. ) Kim

A bit of a dilemma. I could use your advice and opinions.

I think you're over thinking it. I've never had a grey but have had many birds. I'm bringing home a baby CAG in about three months (s/he's an egg right now) my son is 16 and lives with my. I have no intentions of waiting. Kim -
I'm going to get an Aviator. Kim

What harness to get was going to be my next question, thanks!! Kim
-
Protective mom! LOL I'm divorced so It's just me and 16 yr old son, but my ex wouldn't have cared. He really only likes dogs. Kim
-
How many of you have your greys trained to a harness and leash? I plan on getting a travel cage to take my baby places but I was thinking about harness/leash training him/her. This is something totally new to me and would need all the help I could get on how to do it. Kim
-
YES!! LOL They tend to be shy and need lots of time to warm up to you, but some are, or become, real love bugs. There's a linnie forum that I joined several months ago, lot of info there. http://www.lineolatedparakeet.net/forums/index.php Also, they come in some really nice colors. Here are some of pics of my first little boy, Pip. He's a double factor dilute cobalt. Kim

I might be able to have one of those babies, if not I "get" to wait for the eggs to hatch. My youngest (of 2) is 16 in 2 weeks and I don't remember being this impatient waiting for either of them!! LOL Kim
-
No worries. Those pics are just some of my furred and feathered "fids". I'll try get some taken. But here are some of my rosie Bourke's when she was a baby. Kim

One of the linnies I'm trading for my baby CAG is bright yellow, i.e. lutino (red eyes). Mine is a girl and is semi tame. She's real sweet. Kim

I’m new to bunnies as an adult but had some as a child. Just love them. Mine are only a few months old. My days off from work are Tue/Wed and I really wasn’t taking it personally. I find other forums are busier on week days and I always figured it's because people use computers at work. Naughty, naughty. LOL I grew up in Hawaii but have been in Ptld for 26 yrs now. Love the area! I don’t even know what Portlandia is, I don’t watch TV anymore, don’t even have one. Kim

Thank you luvparrots! I heard from the breeder this morning and there is a slim chance I might be able to get one of the 4 babies she's feeding right now. Otherwise she has 4 eggs. My bunnies are girls. The other is a Hotot without the eye bands and both are very friendly and loving. They're house bunnies and get to run around the apartment sometimes. Kim

YAY! It worked. I'll try to get some pictures of everyone. I'll be taking a week off from work in one week for my birthday, so I will try to do it them Kim
