  1. So it turns out that Xandir, my baby CAG, has been fed some of the recalled formula. He is still with his breeder and she has contacted Kaytee. Of the 4 babies he is the only one hand fed from day one (because she had to help him get out of the egg). It's unsure just how much recalled formula he has had but he has been affected. He's doing better now but is underweight and smaller than he should be. Baby #3, his sister, has also been affected just not quite as bad. Babies #1 and #2 are not noticeably affected but they all have been to a vet and tested and we're waiting for the results. Kim
  2. No, Not Buffy....... I think it's Drawn Together. I don't watch ANY TV so I have no clue. Conrad said "Xandir" is gay and I think it's animated?? If you google Xandir you mostly see drawings. Kim
  3. I like the name. I let my son name our baby boy, but I had to agree. He will be coming home in a week or two and we named him Xandir (Zander). Kim
  4. Welcome to the forum Jenni. I'm new here and don't have my grey yet either. He's a baby. ) However, I do have other birds, a dog, and 2 cats. My cats are scared of the bigger birds and never go near them. When I'm not home the birds are in their cages and the cats are free in the apartment. My cats are indoor only and have never "hunted" so that probably makes a difference. ?? Kim
  5. Sounds like a good plan to me!! ROFLMAO!! Kim
  6. Beautiful!! I love IRN's and may get another one later. Kim
  7. I asked my son if we could just spell it "Zander", he said no. LOL! Kim
  8. We have chosen a name!! Xandir pronounced Zander. My son came up with it from a TV show he likes and I like the name. )
  9. Candismalli, I'm soooo glad to "hear" this. It's awesome that he would do this for you. It's the kind of thing I would do, now if I can only meet a man that would. When, and if, I'm ready of course. Kim
  10. Both of my kids and I are very strong willed and independent, no one is going to control us. Kim
  11. I know!! I'm a member of 7 forums and a few email groups, all bird related. And I'm sure that's why I have all the birds I have. Kim
  12. My ex was controlling. My daughter moved out as soon as she finished high school because he tried to control her (not her dad). Then our son, knowing I planned on leaving his dad, came to me one day 2 yrs ago and said "I'm tired of it, lets leave." Kim
  13. I agree. I was married for 17 yrs with lots of compromises. I just now refuse to compromise where animals are concerned. Any man in my life will need to love animals, period. I'm more than willing to compromise in any, and all, other areas. Also, I would be willing to limit the total number of animals. After all, I don't need a zoo. But right now I'm enjoying my total freedom and may never even want to be with another man. LOL!! Kim
  14. Welcome to the group. I'm new here and new to greys. Don't even have my baby yet. But many here have lots of experience and will be along to give you their thoughts on the matter. Kim
  15. I agree with you Nancy. I look at it this way, one bird hurts another, by accident or not, the bird that gets hurt reacts letting the other know that it's unacceptable. So why should we ignore it? Don't "over react" or hurt the bird (or other animal) in any way, but do let them know it's unacceptable. Kim
  16. Thank you Jayd. I know that a parrots life span has a lot to do with when they become sexually mature. A parrotlet will be sooner then an IRN, and an IRN sooner then a grey, etc....... What you said does make sense. Kim
  17. I haven't been to Hawaii since I left almost 26 yrs ago. ( Kim
  18. Congratulations!! A Rose Breasted is one bird I would get in a heart beat, just LOVE them. Kim
  19. I would love to see a picture of Twiggy. I think the name Twiggy works for a boy just well as a girl. Any further news on finding a grey? I'm still trying to find out when my baby boy might be ready to come home. Kim
  20. But because he's a baby I thought it was a good idea to start with a smaller cage. Due to being a little clumsy?? This is the cage I have for him and it's quite big.: http://www.petco.com/product/114150/Petco-Designer-Mink-Brown-Standing-Parrot-Cage.aspx Kim
  21. But Jayd, my 3 month old IRN girl regurgitates to/for me as does my just over 3 month old girl Parrotlet. Aren't they way to young for it to be sexual?? Kim
  22. I started a new thread with this quote from another thread so as not to “steal” that thread…….. I had 2 Parrotlets and was given a Goffins Cockatoo. I had to find them homes because my (ex)husband lost his job and ended up having to take a job working a graveyard shift. The birds made noise during the day and would wake him up. I promised myself that I would never part with an animal because someone else told me to ever again. My divorce has only been final for 2 months now, but this June makes 2 yrs since my son and I moved out. I’m not interested in a relationship right now, but I will never even consider being with a man that doesn’t love animals at least as much as I do. Kim
  23. Just in case you haven't figured it out for sure...... yes, java wood is bird safe. LOL Kim
