  1. I found her a forever house (cage) today! I swear to you all, she smiled when we showed her her new home and set her on it! No adjustment needed for this girl. This morning she scared me so bad i didn't know what to do! I was opening the blinds in their room and she said hello in a deep creepy mans voice and i was in the dark hoping not to wet myself! It wasn't until the room lit up that she did it again and i knew it was her. She has 100%, no doubt bonded with my hubby. He played with her tonight for hours at her insistance. I use to wonder how to play with Bongo, watching Gabby i now have no question. She even loves being on her back either getting belly rubs or being used as a duster. She was on Pats shoulder and he thought she had started to slip, turns out she just laid down. She is talking and whistling too. Today was just her first day with us! We have been blessed with how all these guys get along. We have agreed not to push our luck, our limit has been reached. Here are a few more photos. One in her old home so you can see how small and a picture of her new home! Then one of her on her back!

    Here's Bubba!

Yet another new thread i had to start... In the grey lounge, titled " i didn't do it this time, but i didn't say no" Bongo, Oliver and Bubba have a sister. I'm going to change my screen name to Noah..... 2 of everything!
  3. Meet Gabby! She is 20 years old and wonderful considering all she has been through lately. While on our way to pick up a frame for our 2nd aviary ( Bongo is scared of the macaws, who could blame him? ) my wonderful husband handed me his phone and asked me call this person for him. I didn't know why or for what, but i did. It was about Gabby, Pat made arrangements for us to go get her. When we got there i understood why he was so set on bringing her home. She has a leg that was broken as a baby and is deformed, she still gets around with no issues. Her first owners had her for 15 yrs and then ( so we were told ) put her in a box and left her on a doorstep of a friend ( 2nd owner ) , they then after 5 years sold her to the ones we got her from. She has been with them for 8 months. Her cage is for a love bird or maybe a cockatiel. Its sad. She gave me her food, i saw a price tag on it and had to ask where she found that so cheap, she told me it was the food that she got from the other owner... Really 8 months ago??? Then the seed, she said she had no idea which seed brand it was as the lady filled up a freezer bag of it for her, she gave her a tablespoon of seed each morning. After 8 months still had a quarter of the bag left! They also said that she had just started letting them touch her, i went in, held her and got kisses right in front of them. When we pulled in our drive way and stopped the car, she looked around and said hello! Once inside and the meet and greet was over, Bongo let her share his food. Big mistake (lol)! She ate almost none stop for over an hour, then went to the water bowl ( she only had the bottle water type in her cage, not a bowl ) and tried to take a bath. I had asked the lady about Gabby's bathing and she said she sprayed her once. After all that...... Here she is! Oh, she has been to the vet, all bllodwork good and she is fully flighted.
  4. Ha, got our backs? Not here, lol. The two birds here who can not fly are bigger than the 4 doggies! When a hawk is in the sky its like a round up out back! Kinda funny to watch from my window!
  5. I got lucky and this was my first forum i tried. Everyone on here is great and very helpful. I enjoy reading and soaking up all the information i can because even though i may, at the time, not be experiencing the topic, i know one day i might and i will be better prepared! We get options and opinions here with no one saying "do this, its the only way". Sure there are scuffles between people on here, but don't all families argue now and then?
  6. Ewww, those hawks are scary. I am pretty sure they know there are birds here that can't fly and they tried to get me one day. I was smart though and for once didn't get startled, cuz i stayed real still on my friend Olivia's arm, mom and her friend were on each side of me. That big thing got so close our hairs blew. Now we can't go outside unless its in the aviary. Mom is still working with me on flying, i am getting so good at it now i don't even wait for her. I flew thru the living room and down the hall to the front door! There was even a turn i had to do, this is pretty fun. New York, here i come! Oliver and Bubba will NOT be joining me unless they take a cab, neither of them can fly like i can! And there is no way they would make it on time if they walked, it would take them 2 days just to get to the end of the block they way they stop and rip into everything in their path. They are such children, they should act like me, mature and snobby.
  7. I got my guy in january of this year, he said step up the day he came home and nothing since. I posed the same question, whistle or not whistle. I chose to whistle. He still will not talk our language but i fully understand his! He is 7 years old and i am still being told one day he will talk again, but it is wholey his choice.
  8. I am so sorry to hear this. My thoughts are with you both.
  9. OMG! When will mom learn? My water bowl is just fine for bathing, all i need to wash is my beak and feet (and your wall and the window sill and the floor and the curtains) anyway! Why does she insist the rest of me get wet as well? She put me in this big white thing that had lots of water in it, i almost got my chest and wings wet, gesh. The nerve!

    Here's Bubba!

Oh did we have fun tonight. A friend came over, who loves Bongo, and he got to meet Bubba. Boy did Bubba show off for him. He made all his noises except the little girl scream and we decided on noise he made sounded like the "wuzzzz up" from the bud light commercial so we started working on it, by gosh he smart as a whip. He did his chicken noise so i added a monkey sound and he picked it up quick. I wasn't told he made that one so i am going to ask them. The whole time we were doing this Oliver was right beside him with his head cocked to the side just watching. My guess is he will pick this up too! I try to not get in pictures but this one i had to share. My first real Bubba kisses and he let me pet him on the wing and chest!

    Here's Bubba!

It is really weird but Oliver is the booger, Bubba is a sweet guy. Here they are enjoying a mango cookie, then out of no where Oliver snatched Bubbas cookie away and beaked him. I know its a right to passage and they are just setting the pecking order but Bubba never wins. Lol I was thinking about spraying Bubba with something bird safe but ickie tasting to maybe keep Oliver from plucking him. Bubba likes getting sprayed with the aloe so.... I am grasping at straws here.
  13. It means "hot" outside. Too hot for me. She said i was spoiled by something called an ac and that i over heat quick and need to build up my tolerance, whatever, i am pretty tolerant, look who i live with! Last time i went out, by the time she got my food and water set up i wanted back inside. I sooo hot, i held my wings out and my tongue was moving so fast it was a blur.
  14. Congrats on your newest family member and " happy birthday" everyday!!! I loved it! Welcome

    Here's Bubba!

Got an issue. Oliver started pulling out Bubbas feathers today after this incident. Had to seperate them which really upset Bubba. Yet this evening he didn't mess with them at all. Going to be watching close. Other than seperating them, not sure what to do to stop this.
  16. I am so mad at my brothers! I use to be out of my house all the time, but now if mom goes outside for any amount of time i have to go home. Seems Oliver cant keep his balance when he gets excited and yesterday someone came over, the dogs started barking, mom went outside to talk and Oliver hit the floor. The blind dog wanted to know what was going on and it moved so she started nipping. Mom and dad ran in to save the dog (oliver was winning). Today they are working on a car out front but said i had to be in my house. The big boys are in theirs too cuz they got into the garbage can this morning so mom said she can't trust them on their own! Gesh, what a boring day this is going to be. I asked if we could go outside but she said it will be 105 today, no. Ho hummmm. Oh yeah, Bubba taught me how to scream like a little girl, i guess i can practice that!

    Here's Bubba!

Bird- 1/2 File cabinet- 1 Garbage can- 0 I put the garbage can in front of the file cabinet, who knew. I got 5 minutes of the funniest video of them to date. Here is a picture, it is of Oliver heading in to join Bubba who is already inside!
  18. I am so happy for you both! Yeah!

    Here's Bubba!

Birds-2 File Cabinet- 0 This time hubby got to see the fun. He said Bubba was on top of it, looking like one of those bobbing glass decorations, beating a bag of food up and Oliver was inside the cabinet playing peek a boo with him while getting into another bag food. Oh joy! The fun is while trying to pick one of them up, the other one is nipping at you. Nipping is not really right, biting would be more accurate. The are a team when up to no good!
  23. Yeah!!!! I love good news
  24. Dee, i have just read about your ordeal. Your kind and calming words helped me through our hard times with Oliver and i can only hope to help you as you helped me. Although my experience is limited, my prayers are not and they are for you both! I am glad to hear of the improvement.

    Here's Bubba!

Thank you. The red head was MaryAnne, who my neighbors took in when i took Oliver. I didn't feel i was able to care for the two but couldn't leave her there. She also came from the same family i got my boys from. I found out her name was Ginger. My grey, Bongo, was just neglicted emotionally, he is thriving now, just won't talk!! Hubby said that the aviary we have will be for the macaws and we will build Bongo a seperate one as he is scared to death of the macaws. ( who can blame him? ) I will admit, caring for the two macaws has been more overwhelming than i thought it would be. I keep telling myself it has only been 8 days since Bubba came to us and we have made huge progress with him, but the stress is so high. He not only has the wing issue and is plucking again ( i found some downey feathers in the cage this morning ) but he has something going on with his crop or maybe airsac that makes him look deformed at times and he makes weird noises when it does that. Lol. AND, the both now are wandering around the house whenever they want! I thought i had lost Bubba this morning, finally found him on Bongos cage in the living room! ( he was inside his cage in his room when i walked outside ) Okay, enough whining from me! All will be good, all will be good, all WILL be good! Lol
