Congrats! I am no expert by far, but i live by the "never know until you try" motto. Open the door, but be sure it is safe for her if she does fly. They are pretty good fliers for the most part, so she'll get around stuff. Make sure the fans are off and windows closed. I do have one that loves being outside so we do have to watch him close when he is out and the windows are closed because he will try flying through it. Her cage is her safe place, don't invaid it, for her mental well being. In time she may invite you in.

Sterling... Russell feed on 199, cheap cheap cheap boings. More than half the price of the pet stores. I want to say like 16.00 bucks compared to the $40.00 prices at the pet stores. Great toys there too. Thet laugh at me when i go in cuz i tend to buy them out... 5 parrots, what can i say.

Oh my, i didn't mean in any way to scare you away from a grey. They really are sweethearts. We all have our moments, bird and human!

All of mine have devil moments! I have scars with hard knots under them up and down my arms from Gabby, plus i am still nursing the loss of half my nail with the nail bed exposed! She calls you to her lowers her head for tickles then once your hand is within range, BAM. Never, never, never have something in your hand when you are close to her ( i had my debit card in my hand and she wanted it, thats how i lost my nail ) ah, such a cutie! My other, non greys, are just as sneaky. I have had my lip ripped in half, thumbs ground and toes nipped. Other non bloody things... Baseboards, coffee/end tables, remotes, cell phones, tablets, picture frames and anything in my purse are highly over rated. Gabby, Gus and Bubba have much different uses for these things, whether we like it or not! Bongo and Oliver are really laid back but do have their moments. They both have a bark, not a bite. Okay, they bite Pat but as a warning, i am very safe with them both. Lol

Welcome and congrats! As far as food goes, mine all have a bowls of pellets, zupreem nut blend and veggie blend mixed, a bowl with some mixed seeds all the time in their cage and their stands and then they get a bowl of fresh food for breakfast and then a fresh food dinner. Dyes in the pellets are not really good but if they eat, i am happy, i find most of the food on the floors and walls. ( dyes are not good for us either but i love my m&m's, lol ) There are great food threads on here that open the world up for feeding options! My advice is to not stress, sit back, interact as permitted and enjoy your new future!

Welcome and congrats! She is a cutie! One thing i read was that you put a heater by her cage. Please be sure it is safe as most are not, containing teflon. -
Oh, thats a great idea with the screen covers around them. I have seen two new ceiling fans out now at Lowes that are built with a cover, bird safe. http://images.lowes.com/product/converted/840506/840506058170lg.jpg http://images.lowes.com/product/converted/840506/840506057654lg.jpg Heck, they have alot more like that online. Here is another. http://www.lowes.com/pd_331102-88854-LP8076LBN_0__?productId=3284042&Ntt=ceiling+fans&pl=1¤tURL=%3FNtt%3Dceiling%2Bfans&facetInfo=

Yes, yes i do! Gus gave me a couple days off. For some reason he has HATED Pat since Friday, and by hated i mean flying at him biting him and chasing him. He actually had blood running down his neck. I had to handle him, if he even caught a glance of Pat he fluffed up, threw up his crown and started hissing. Last night i had to put him in his room because Pat was spooked and said he was done having to worry about being attacked. Out of nowhere with no signs, he would fly at Pat and just start biting him where ever he landed, arm, neck, back. Then this afternoon we had a duh moment. Even though i wear glasses, Pat had to wear his this weekend and we never gave that a thought, he wears sunglasses all the time so we just never gave it any merit. But, Pat took his glasses off and Gus calmed down quite quickly. Pat was blind but Gus was happy again. They cuddled and played for a couple of hours tonight. Back to being second fiddle and getting the nibbles.

Tea? I am moving from wine to the hard stuff now! Lol atleast that way when i hurt myself i won't feel it! Gus just stayed on my shoulder looking at me holding my jaw with this look in his eyes like, "whaaa? I didn't do anything." it was actually quite funny.

Woo-hoo. Just a little swollen, coverable bruise. Atleast i don't have to explain my stupidity all day. Lol I am pretty sure he has learned this from the greys. They fly past him when they fly to us. Monkey see, monkey do. What that monkey doesn't see, or doesn't care to see is that we call the greys so we are expecting them, or they contact call before taking flight! Plus, they are a little bit smaller, seeing a big white cotton ball coming at you is shocking sometimes!
-
I just saw this, i am so sorry. My thoughts are with you.
-
Welp, i expect to have a big bruise on my chin tomorrow. I was bent over trying to get soap in the dishwasher when Gus flew over onto me. He scared me so bad i smacked my chin into the cabinet door, i actually had to check some teeth to see if they were loose. Not anthing he did, just scared me, the stinker!

Um, mine didn't smell... Birdfair in Richardson on the 30th. Holding my breath i make it there before running out.lol. My guys love it but one bag was moth filled, i learned from that to freeze it!
-
That looks great and like it would be lots of fun! Good job!

I will pm my contact info to you, we would love to meet you!

I had to remove Bongo's from his cage. He still has one on his stand but he had those rope strings caked and stuck on the back of his lower beak, he loves to chew them up and i can't risk anything happening to him when i am not home. Plus i am worried about him ingesting it and getting blocked up, so as much as he loves it i have to limit his time with it!
-
I have gotten so good at fooling myself since Gus came into our lives! We were looking at videos from his first few weeks with us. We noticed what trusting fools we were! Lol also noticed what a con man he is.
-
Boy do i have an offer for you! You will be 20 minutes away from my home so to keep you from having Gracie withdraws, come visit my flock! They will keep you so busy! :-)
-
Okay, Gus started making that pose yesterday. Scared me at first, but it seems he was playing.
-
They are really just faking ya out! It's the "see, i won't bite you, come closer and see for yourself...Oops, i lied" look! I still fall for it everytime though! I will say i got a great "too" backrub tonight. He ran up and down my back jumping, hubby kept trying to get him on his but he wouldn't! Yeah me! Lol

How beautiful he is! Congrats!
