Those are pretty interesting, 40 page instruction book for us? Lol, that should keep him busy for what? 10 minutes?!! Lol We luckely have a neighbor who works for a company that makes boxes and when they miss print or make too many he brings them to us! I never thought of Gus and a box, doh! I video taped Pat teaching Gus the key board yesterday, it would have been so cute, if only i had hit the record button!

Hahaha, Golden Girls and Mash are two the Bongo likes to watch. It started because I would put it on TBS in the mornings for the cute shows when i go to work in the morning, I Love Lucy and that stuff. He has started doing the logo sound for the station. It was hard finding a station they all liked, cartoons are a nono, they all scream, except for Family Guy.

Gus has been just wonderful and we decided last night that he is too smart for his own good and bored! I have lots of foraging toys but they are no challange for him. Pat had a baby toy that makes noises when you spin the pictures, he watched Pat one time spin it and was doing it with ease on his second try. Problem is it has batteries so we can't leave it with him in the cage. He also was tapping keys on a keyboard. What can we do to stimulate him when he is in his cage? We hide toys and treats where he has to work to get to them but it only takes him minutes to figure it out.

We said the same thing, where have they all come from? There is even a mated pair that fly over us. ( we assume they are mated anyway since they are always together.) Wonder if there have always been that many but we never noticed until we got birds and had to look out for them.

Thats a beautiful stand! I also would add a boing or two!

Woo-hoo! We were at Walmart today looking for portable ac's and found the infared heater on sale for $89.00. Couldn't pass that up! I love buying out of season! Bird safe!

I just hope we can find him a home. My day goes like this or i would take him in... I chase 2 macaws around the house while dodging a flying, nipping cottonball, hoping i don't have to bend over near a grey who really enjoys pinching my lower half while being watchful for another grey who flies to me on a whim. No wonder i am so tired at the end of the night!

So, i misunderstood hubby. They don't know when his last vet check was, but he will come with his cage, toys and anything else that is his. So if anyone on here knows of a good home he can go too please let me know. They would need to be able to work with him as i feel he has been neglected in that area. He probably won't be "instant bird", but who know what he will become in a new loving home. I hope to meet him soon.

Oh, that would be an awsome book. Tonight those boys took over the house. They made their ramp to the floor, chased the dogs up on the couch and ran around like goof balls. Climbed the gate into the bathroom, tore the garbage apart with Bubba on the toilet making sure Oliver got all the tissue out. Then headed to the bird room where the got on the greys cage and huddled over Bongos side. I am a little worried though, Gus was paying way to much attention to them.

I am so sorry to hear that, for both you and those babies. Hang in there though, your baby is out there waiting for you just as you are waiting for him(or her).

It is now a game to the macaws, they plan and scheme how to get the box off the table to give them a bridge to Gabbys love seat. Twice yesterday, we were there this time and Gus did tell on them. They also used a box to make a slide on the other side of the table to get on the floor. Man they are smart! Gus progressed to standing on his skates too! My pictures were too slow though, only got him over them, not on them. I'll keep trying!
-
Bongo use to step up for me from inside but like yesterday, he ran for the top and wouldn't come out, he would have stayed in all night if Pat hadn't gone in the room. He is not a Pat fan and flys to me everytime Pat is near him. I am actually at a loss with this one, i am hoping it is just a phase and once he gets his fill of alone time he will want to join the family again.
-
I am hoping all goes well with the move and a cool front moves in for you! ( cool fronts in Tx mean high 90's ) I picture you bringing things into the new house and Dayo telling you where to put it all. There, put it there, i didn't say put it there!
-
No kidding! I am just glad we were paying attention to the scream tone, otherwise we could have ignored it as we do with his normal screams.
-
Oh boy, we had a scare yesterday and Gus was only involved by screaming in a paniced tone. Had the boys on the table with their box, Bongo and Gabby eating on their stand and Gus pacing on his stand. As i have mentioned before G abby has claimed the loveseat as hers and Pats alone. The macaws pushed their box off the table making a bridge to love seat and on it they went. We were out back watering the plants and heard Gus screaming in a tone we have never heard. I took off running and opened the door in time to see Gabby dive bombing the macaws. Right into Olivers face where he flung his head at her and knocked her to the floor, she wasn't giving up either. How dare they be on her couch! Pat got Gabby and i coaxed the boys back to the table. Did it end there? Nope, the macaws were spreading their wings just out of Gabbys reach, luring her to them. Thankfully they all moved on after a bit but now Gabby hates them and would not leave her couch until they were in their cage. Yeah for Gus screaming at the commotion or who knows how that would have ended!

Yeah, i don't know how many would sign it if i added to it, "take care of this bird in accordance or i have the right to hurt you badly!"
-
I am going through this also with Bongo, he is my boy but now will not come out of his cage when i ask him and we have had him for over a year and a half. If i try to get him to step up from inside his cage, he scurries to the top. He knows i won't chase him or force him so he just hangs upside down until i leave the room. When he is out of his cage, he is just as loving as he use to be. Lol. Sometimes i think they are just testing the waters.

Ah, to have the time to sit and eat ice cream. It was a beautiful day yesterday, all the fiddos spent the day outside. Thought we were going to have a struggle getting the macaws in, they found a place behind a plant and tried to hide! But all it took was asking if they were ready for some yum yum and all 5 came a running! I did have to run to Lowes and while there i found Bongo and Gus's favorite treat on sale! A mandrine orange tree, so i bought 6 trees, one for each of them and one just in case, lol.

Happy hatchday!

Happy Birthday! Hope you had a wonderful day being spoild! Not that you are not spoiled everyday!

What a cute messy face, i love that picture! Look at how much Bill had already smeared on the cage behind him, looks like eating will not any issues with him, lol. Welcome to the family.

So we decided to take Gus out yesterday and see how he does in public, we went to petsmart. Funny how when you go into Petsmart with your dogs, kids are all over them. That was our fear with Gus, the kids wanting to pet him or running up to him. Pat was holding him, harnessed of course, we walked past the first kid and it is like he had read our minds because he actually told Pat not to worry, he does not want to pet our bird! Loads of people up there and the only person who asked if she could pet Gus was the bansfield receptionist. Lol He did great up there! Today maybe to Lowes to get some pool shock! Our Lowes now has signs on there door that only service dogs are allowed inside, doesn't say anything about a Gus though!!

Thank you guys for the support. I got Bubbas cage back today from my neighbor... Just in case. The owner was talking sanctuary before she was told of us and after i asked about vet, cage, food etc., we have not heard back.

I thought i had removed my number from where ever it is listed that people keep calling us about their birds! Hubby got a call yesterday about a 12 yr old b&g macaw that they want to give us. They said he hasn't been handled in a while and now they just can't. I know we can not take him in but i told them i will try and find him a forever home. They are getting me all the vet info and finding out if the cage will come with him. Sometimes living in my blissful, uninformed world is so nice. When thrown curves like this it reminds me just how many birds out there need help! I wish every person who had a whim to get a bird would be forced to read the parrot bill of rights and have to sign it, punishable by law if they do not follow those words as outlined! Yes, i am on my soap box but we added up how many birds we have found homes for in the last year and it is 9 birds not counting this one. There were 2 others that were in good shape, i new would find a home, that i didn't have to step in and help! Breaks my heart!

I sure hope i can get it on video, it is so funny. The expressions this boy has are very clear, if he is happy, mad or scared you see it all over his face. He got a bath yesterday and was not happy at all with being wet, Pat brought him to me outside to dry off and he had this very angry look in his eyes. We went and sat in the sun and as he started drying that look changed to contentment, he kinda let his wings hang down to let the air dry his underside and it looked as if he were hugging me. Once completely dry it was play time and his look changed again, eyes bright and big! For a first, Bongo was on my shoulder and Gus was on my arm, that is the closest they have been. I wish Bongo would hurry up with this harness training, i want to take him outside. Gus spoiled my slowly working at this attitude by getting right into his, mind you, i am in no way rushing Bongo, just in my mind i want him to wake up today and tell me, okay, i am good with the harness now, lets go!
