  1. Lori... practice some contact calls. Many just babble still trying to find their voice. They are equivalent to a toddler at this age. Some talk sooner, some are just " absorbing".Sophie's vocabulary took off more around late twos to three. Greys are all smart. Encourage vocals with interactions, and asking questions. Sophie still babbles if she can't find her words. Nancy
  2. Sophie is going to be happy, kids will be home from school. Their requests for meals, will be met! From steaks, chicken and pot roast... Sophie will be at the dinner table! LOL! She knows the rules... will be good with her own plate Nancy
  3. Sophie will only dance and cluck. When the boys are home from college... they get her rapping with clucks and dance. She has EXCELLENT rythm! ONLY clean songs, as she knows NO swear words. The only song she sings to with words is " Take me out to the ballgame". She messes it up all the time and starts over.Sigh... we have a lot of start overs! When she thinks she has done a good job, she will say " Play ball", and of course that is our cue to clap and say " yay Sophie!" She is pleased! ( she probably sucked just as much!) LOL If she is pleased, so are we! We always want her to be happy and pleased with herself... and YES she is... ( a little too much!). Confidence, has never been Sophie's problem I have always appreciated when my kids were learning a new instrument, Sophie was always there for them. A cluck of approval, even if they stunk! She also has a cluck of " disapproval", that she uses too... kids know her approval or disapproval cluck and she lets us know! Nancy
  4. What a cutie! She LOVES your workouts... BUT loves her swing more! LOL! Nancy
  5. Sophie never did that, but the on going joke is "Sophie is asexual!" LOL! She DOES have a foot fetish though.... especially men wearing crocs with the holes in them. LOTS of love. My kids live in crocs and Santa bought them new ones. Sophie will be pleased. Nancy
  6. I dont own a gun! I am a FIRM believer, that people have the right to have one. I know the answer is NOT to take guns away from decent citizens, but certainly Obama was right if you are on the " NO FLY " list... you dont get a gun! Wait... that was me! I went away one weekend, I was on the " NO FLY list". Say WHAT? I hadn't flown in ten years! It got resolved, but the mix up worried me " Who is in charge of the no fly list?" They certainly have got to do better than put a 55 year old woman on the " no fly" list, whom is afraid to fly. and they just made me even more afraid! Nancy
  7. My Amazon did TRIPLE the destruction! No bird can compare! She could say two things. " Kiki", her name, and " Uh oh", when she broke something! Nancy
  8. Yogurt can be my breakfast, around seven times a week. I get a bite, she gets a bite. We prefer to share a blueberry. Next, we mix up with multi berry. Her poops don't change. Big plop in the morning, usually before breakfast. Sophie just tells me to " share".I do share, because I have NO CHOICE! LOL Sophie has a healthy diet of pellets, freeze dryed veggies that she loves.I provide her with the basics, and then she eats what we eat. I am not talking carbs, spaghetti sauce, just a basic protein diet. grilled veggies that she LOVES! She DOES love fruits like fresh apples , grapes. Diet has never been an issue for us. She eats dinner with us, and has a very healthy appetite! Her weight, has always been spot on! Nancy
  9. Thank You! I soooo miss my candles! Nancy
  10. I am sure Marden's parents know, what you have done for yours, and their son. Keep doing it! You are building a legacy for Marden, and he certainly deserves it! Nancy
  11. Muse... you lost this battle! LOL! Leave Megan's magnets, for Megan. You will NOT win this battle! LOL I remember having the alphabet magnets on the refrig. They all got thrown off! I would say "A", there goes the letter "B", thinking I am educating her. NOT... but I appreciate, that she doesn't chew or destroy any picture I have on the side of the refrig, which are of my mom, Ryan and Sean. Not sure why she doesn't go after them. I would be upset.. I ask for very little, so I try to think of it as " respect". More like Sophie doesn't like that side of refrigerator! LOL Nancy
  12. Be happy Winston LOVES to destroy toys! LOL I would be thrilled if Sophie loved toys... she doesn't. WE are her toys. Sean will bring her back chunks of wood from hunting. After cleaning the wood ( which she supervises), she will destroy it, only if it is in the kitchen, hanging with us. We leave her tons of paper, bills, on the counter top.Sophie is in the kitchen the moment we walk in the door. Nancy
  13. If you are mixing the formula on the counter in the kitchen with just Kane, perhaps you could use this moment as a learning tool Watching for the signs of a bite... say NO and stop. Restart when the behavior has been " cut off". I can't imagine feeding as many birds as you do!... I am sure Kane is just biting from excitement from being hungry. I would help you in a heartbeat if we lived near each other! I remember taking care of my friends birds... around 20... reading all the directions on each cage. Thank GOD I took my kids with me! It was so overwhelming Nancy
  14. I LOVE that my girl loves music. It is a must! SO much fun...Sophies favorites are all songs to the " sound of music". She loves it! Also, try songs from " The phantom of the Opera". Nancy
  15. We all play several instruments! Music is important to us. Sophie, can't stand opera, but loves hip hop and is quite the dancer. Nancy
  16. We CAN have nice things! I am determined! Down to three windowsills Sophie can't get enough of. As I replace, plastic goes around them, she doesn't like that. Her doors wont be closed, but i know where she tends to poop, hang out, or chew.I remain " one step ahead of Sophie!" Planning on remodeling bathroom. I am hiring someone that has known Sophie her entire life! She will stepup to him... and he has no problem telling Sophie he doesn't need any help. It will work! Nancy
  17. What an amazing thing to do! Marden would be pleased. Nancy
  18. So I made my first omelette! It was perfect and Sophie thought I did a GREAT job! Bacon, onions and cheese. She supervised and tasted. A cluck of approval! Nancy
  19. Sean is concerned, that Sophie is too attached to him. They had a wonderful summer together, and when he comes home from college, she is all over him! ALL week! ( she does do this!) I tell him to be proud Sophie wants to hang out with you. NOW...he is worried Ryan's feelings will be hurt, that she is bonded to him, as Sophie was initially bonded to Ryan. I am very worried Sophie will go to Ryan, when he comes home for Christmas. They skype and Sophie is always happy to be involved in Ryans life.( I don't want to be involved, and wish to disappear!). I don't want feelings hurt.... Nancy
  20. Dorian looks adorable! After Sophie destroying sooo many keyboards, Sean my son made me buy a laptop. Now I can " close it!" Sophie doesn't like the laptop, and I find it AMAZING! LOL! I have so many old keyboards lying around, she still has keys to pop off. Nancy
  21. I feel GREAT! Had to do the mandatory TB mask fitting. My BP went down thirty points. From 130/70 down to 102/64. Amazing! I didn't have blood pressure issues, but I will take it! LOL! DANG Sterling... put that girl on a diet! LOL! Sophie really enjoys my diet plan. She always has pellets and seeds but focuses more on what I eat. We diet together, and she actually eats more healthy Nancy
  22. Down 26 pounds! I want to look as good as Sophie and Ollie! If I feed them and they look so good... I can look good too. Sophie is into the diet plan. Lots of grilling and Sophie has a response always when I tell her " we shouldn't eat that!". She gives a cluck of approval or not! I know it is based off my emotions, but she seems to be the best supporter of weight loss. LOL Nancy
  23. YOU... are the chosen one. Greys tend to do this. It takes alot of work on other family members to have your Grey accept them. Your boyfriend has to decide if he is committed 100%. My kids were, and when they come home from college, Sophie drops me like a " hot potato". I couldn't be prouder, that all our training has paid off. ( it was only six months of hell really) It was worth it. Sophie still won't tolerate them bringing a girl home. She will sit between them! LOL! Nancy
  24. You have nothing to feel guilty about! It is a fact of life, and you need to lead with excitement over your new adventure. Introduce new home, one room at a time. If you are the bonded one, your grey won't give a hoot. If your ex, IS important, it would be good for him to be involved. Even if a Grey mimics them, but is NOT bonded, a Grey, won't care but still mimic. Nancy
  25. Good to hear other parents and birds do this! Sterling...Farts count! Its a contact call. Fart back! {I am sure you do}. I live in a house full of boys, doesn't even faze me. LOL! Neoow... Alfie is truly into it! I LOVE that your house mate gets involved. Excellent socialization Katana600... Miss Gilbert is having fun! You lose the challenge for her! LOL! Thats their goal! Mistyparrot... That would be fun to document their contact call. Greytness... Maalik and you have a GREAT bond! Whenever Sophie feels she needs to " out do me"... she breaks into " rapping ". Ryan taught her that. She starts clucking and dancing... I can't do that and she knows.I just laugh, go pick her up and tell her she wins. She will say " Hi Rom " Nancy
