Rocky is a very handsome bird! And he has one sweet looking playstand too!

Me and my wife have used vinegar water for ages. Not only is it more environmentally friendly and non toxic it's also as cheap as it gets.
-
Well thanks! Like I said I see the code on youtube that's supposed to embed a video like that but when I posted it it still showed the code and not the video.

As a proud father of some wonderful kids and birds of my own I can tell you there is no such thing as too many photos! My son is still a bit immature to be trusted handling my birds but my daughter is absolutely gentle them. Thanks for sharing the photos.

Glad to hear all went well at the vet check. My conures love carrots but I think they like tearing it to little bits and throwing it about their cage more then they like actually eating them. But fresh peas on the other hand they absolutely devour like I don't feed them or something. Who ever came up with the phrase "eats like a bird" obviously never owned a parrot of any kind because that's all mine seem to do! I was also wondering about the DNA sexing. I researched it a bit and my understanding is you order the kit, pluck a chest feather or take a blood sample and send it back. How do you go about doing this without making your bird feel uneasy about it. Kinda sounds like it'd be a great way to make em mad at you.

At first they seemed a bit nervous about it but once they got on their new grapevine perch they played with it for 20 minutes or more. I had gotten this one for the outside of the cage but looks like I'll be getting another one tomorrow for the inside of the cage. By the way, I have seem several people who have embedded their youtube videos in they're posts but when I've tried it all I see is the code when I preview the post. If someone could point me in the right direction I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks Dave. That's a sweet idea, I may try making some of those.

Awesome video! Such a loving little thing, seems to really enjoy the cuddles. I'm envious I don't have a ball of feathery cuddliness yet!

I have heard of this before. Read about it somewhere and I can't recall exactly but the posts I had read they didn't have much luck with it. Now I'm not saying it wouldn't work as every grey is different. But the best success I have read about is just talking to your grey. As far as weather your bird will remain a closet talker or not again just depends on the bird.

Speaking of things birds are scared of, I found the other day my birds won't come near me if I'm wearing a hat. I walked up to the cage and at first couldn't figure for the life of me why they seemed so nervous. Then I realized it was the first time I had wore my hat next to they're cage. I took it off and they calmed right down.

Yea this is the second time this school year my daughter has brought home strep and gave it to the whole house. We never had that problem when it was just church. And anymore hand sanitizer is on your school shopping list. At least it is here.

An experience like his would have scared me to death. Glad everything turned out ok for him.

Again very nice pictures. Your photos are always so detailed.

My birds love them. Although I think they love peanuts in the shell the most.

Louie has been around for over a year!!!!
bmatrow replied to Luvparrots's topic in Cricket's Amazon Room
Louie is a very handsome guy. He sounds and acts in the video a lot like my kiwi. Although kiwi and mango both have actually gotten on my shoulder and arms touching is strictly off limits. Mango will nibble but Kiwi bites. Not super hard but it sure doesn't feel good lol. I was thinking maybe I was doing something wrong. But regardless, your Louie seems to be a sweet happy little guy! Thanks for sharing the video. -
Awesome video! He seems to have a very extensive vocabulary. Can't blame him on the peanut butter, I personally love the stuff. Thanks for sharing the video.

They won't eat them in the shell but they would eat the whole bag of shelled sunflower seeds.

She's adorable! And growing up so fast!

Kiwi and Mango have made some great progress. We have them on a pellet diet now instead of the mainly sunflower seed diet they were on. And they have tamed quite a lot toward me and my wife. Although they still wont allow any touching with our hands they will both get on our shoulders and climb up and down our arms. Kiwi has climbed from our shoulder to our hands simply to bite the tar out of us. He seems to really want our attention and climbs on us willingly but he ALWAYS bites fairly hard when he does. Weather its your ears or hands arms, he sees bare skin he "explores" with his beak but does it quite roughly. We usually put a towel on our shoulder and arm because we've found that they tend to fall off our bare arms. And as soon as he gets to bare skin he bites. Wish we could spend time with him without the pain of being bitten every time. I've been hoping with time he would stop but there seems to be little to no change. Any advice? Some new pictures also! Ive gotten to be able to tell them apart easily. Kiwi has more yellow on his back and Mango has more on his wings. May just be me but I think they've lost quite a bit of green since I got them. They are so sweet, me and my wife have become quite fond of them.

I'm happy to hear that she seems to be well. And a great video also. She seems super smart, thanks for sharing.

When I first got my conures they had just been clipped the night before I brought them home for the first time. I wasn't thrilled the person I got them from took the liberty of choosing for me. But what was done was done. So when we let them out after several crash landings we started putting blankets and pillows around the cage. Although they seem to have gotten more used to it and crash to the floor a lot less then they did, I still cant wait till they grow back.

Part III Crickets Journey, Our bond grows.
bmatrow replied to Ray P's topic in Cricket's Amazon Room
Sounds like you and Crickets journey led to a wonderful friendship. Thanks again for sharing, these are great stories. -
We also have a Rocky, a barred rock rooster. We were supposed to sell him with the other older chickens we had but we've become so fond of him. Our flock including chickens, turkeys and peafowl are free range. Rocky loves to come to our front porch for treats and attention when we give the peafowl sunflower seed treats in the evening.

I completely agree with Cupid. Especially after you've had him this long and you two have started to bond so well.

Wow she's really quite a chatterbox! I definitely heard something about a table. Thanks for sharing! Cant wait for more.
