  1. A very pretty girl you have there. Congratulations, hope you two have a wonderful time together. I don't have my grey yet but I'm hoping for it to happen sooner then later.
  2. An amazing story Carol. Sounds like he found the right person. I do bet the ones that lost him miss him terribly though.
  3. Just wanted to show off some pictures of my newest babies! Pair of 6 month old sun conures. Been wanting a CAG for a while and my wife decided I should get these for her. The one on the left is kiwi and the right is mango. Only problem is only way I can tell them apart is kiwi still has a touch of fuz on his chest, when he loses that idk lol. Although their personalities are quite a bit different. Kiwi seems to be more outgoing but tends to get a bit rough while mango is shy and gentle. Neither of them will allow me or my wife to pick them up yet but they have been a real joy to have around. Kiwi seems to be the more dominate of the two also. I was thinking about separating them thinking it might cool kiwi out a bit but idk.
  4. Yea me and my wife had actually looked at a similar cage. Maybe even the same one its on the same site.
  5. Yea I was a kinda worried that having the two together may keep them from really bonding with us like I had hoped. But I also kinda hate to separate them because they seem so close too. I figured it was too early, I was just hoping for reassurance the biting will subside a bit. Thanks for the quick reply ;-) You think putting them in separate cages if they are opposite sexes would be the thing to do?
  6. Been thinking about getting a CAG for months and have read almost every shred of info I could find on them and parrots in general. Needless to say my wife also struck interest in owning something similar herself so decided I should get her a pair of sun conures she found advertised on a local classified add. Really the deal was great, two 6 month old hand raised birds with a large cage, toys, bowels and all for $320. Now I've only had the birds home for 24 hours but i have a couple questions I'm hoping some more seasoned bird owners could answer. I'm not sure about the sex of the birds and i know there is no way to tell just by looking. But they live together in the same cage. Could this cause a problem when they reach sexual maturity? I don't want to mate them even if they could but is it ok to continue to keep them in the same cage. They seem to get along great, they share food and prune each other all the time. Also, I know its only been a day. But the people we got them from said they could pick them up and that they didn't bite. Now this morning neither one of them (we named them kiwi and mango lol) would have anything to do with us. I fully expected this though. But kiwi started coming around after a few hours of coaxing and will now take a peanut out of my hand, give me kisses and nibble on my fingers. Mango started coming around a little later in the day with kisses first then he started taking food from our hands. Neither bird will let us touch them though. Anything more then gnawing on our fingers is off limits. Also somewhat expected after only a day. But I was happy with the progress. But throughout the day as mango started coming around, he was so gentle. And kiwi is getting much rougher as she nibbles on my fingers. To the point its more like biting then a nibble. I know the guy we got them from clipped their wings before we picked them up and managed to pull out some of mangos tail feathers in the process. So i wondered if maybe that was part of the problem or if maybe i was just messing with them too much on the first day. Although if i put my finger in the cage kiwi will come right up to gnaw but bites a bit hard, but usually will give really gentle kisses. Maybe they just don't like the hands because of a traumatic clipping experience or I'm pushing them too hard? Anyway sorry for the long rant. I will try and get some pictures posted of my new babies as soon as i get a chance. Well, my wifes new babies i meant lol.
