  1. We LOVE cinnamon. My hubby is a cancer survivor and we use all kinds of healthy additives to improve our lives. Cinnamon included! Can I give Shadow cinnamon sticks?
  2. Off topic but I couldn't help but ask.....Cinnamon sticks? Birds like cinnamon sticks? Would like to hear more about this.
  3. We look forward to hearing about your new addition. This is a GREAT place to learn and make friends.
  4. Dawl..I am so sorry for your loss. It is always hard to loose a member of the family and as the "Mom" we often must deal with our own emotions compounded by those of our spouse and children. Hang in there...hopefully your new little Grey can help comfort you both. R.I.P. little lizzard.
  5. What a great gift! He IS adorable.
  6. Thank you Shanlung for your encouragement. I have struggled with much of the conflicting advice on this subject and I believe your way of thinking works with what my heart is feeling.
  7. I feed an organic pellet sold by Pretty Parrot in Atlanta. My CAG loves it. She used to eat Zupreem fruit blend but made the transition without any problems.

    I Remember Game

Would like to think I'm a spring chicken......I remember when tinsel was made of foil!
  9. Oh my gosh. That is the sweetest thing ever! Congrats to you and your boys.
  10. Precious baby! Thanks for sharing. Looking forward to seeing more as she grows!
  11. It is my understanding....please correct me if I am wrong.....that the danger with teflon arises when the teflon is heated over 500 degrees, producing toxic fumes. I have eliminated all teflon that could "accidently" overheat. Like pots, tea kettles, crock pots, etc. But would the heating element in a humidifier cause such a risk? Just wondering as I am learning as I go.....
  12. Never used photobucket....good idea. I uploaded to Youtube. Hopefully this works! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YA_A_FmtvRM
  13. Technology is NOT my friend...I will try to make this more viewer friendly.....to be honest, I don't "do" facebook either, just not sure how to post video!
  14. Shadow decided she needed a bath and I managed to catch it on video. http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=175738042522615&set=vb.100002592616063&type=2&theater Don't forget to turn down the volume..distraught Chihuahuas in the background!
  15. HAPPY HATCH DAY CORKY! Sound like you are one lucky bird...hopefully you will get extra treats!
  16. if you have the bowls with 2 screws...could you tell me the spacing? I have been looking everywhere for bowls that might fit my HQ feed doors. Thanks!!!
  17. Shadow has a personal cleanup crew.....my 3 tiny chihuahuas have no problem cleaning up after her. Actually I am not sure who enjoys it more, the bird who throws the food or the eager little dogs waiting for it.
  18. Does anyone know the spacing on the screws? Wondering if they would ft my HQ feed doors. I received Shadow with her cage and there is only one of the original bowls that attaches to the little doors. Not very convenient!
  19. Interesting thread....when I look at Shadow (CAG) I see an Angel...so beautiful and poised. I have also seen the devil....with a beak to be feared. However, as my relationship with Shadow has begun to unfold, I still fear the beak but no longer see the devil. What I now see is an innocent angel trying to find trust in the one who lacks trust in herself. Since I have come to realize that my fear has encouraged her distrust, I no longer fear the devil in my precious girl and I know that now she can begin to trust me as I have learned to trust myself in her presence.
  20. I also leave Shadow's door open...as long as I am nearby and able to keep an eye on her. She is fully flighted as well and enjoys occasional flights around the house. When I need her to go back in, I just put her favorite treat in her bowl and in she goes. No stress for either of us!
  21. I am new here but I had the same questions. I think building trust needs to come first. And the one thing I have learned and seen the benefits of is that everything takes time and patience. Without trust from your Grey, everything becomes more difficult and stressful for both the human and the parrot. Nothing happens quickly in a Grey world. (except of course the obligatory sucker punch! )
  22. Welcome! I am new here too. Just 3 months ago I opened my home and my heart to an 8 year old CAG. I have pretty much let Shadow determine when she was ready for each step. She has made amazing progress! I look forward to hearing more of your story. I think we can all learn so much from everyone's experiences.
