You should be able to leave pellets available without the seeds in there. Also, try getting some foraging toys and hiding food in them. Make her work a little harder at getting to the food. My grey would throw as much food in the bottom of the cage as he ate. Someone else here had the same problem and said that they started putting all the pellets inside foraging toys and the amount of food thrown decreased significantly.

Great to meet you Ellie and Tule! You have probably answered this in one of your other posts but how old is Tule?

Welcome Cassandra and Ajax! Losing his balance and flapping is very normal. Babies are clumsy and he is still a baby. Some owners of baby greys will put towels on the bottom of the cage and lower food bowls until their grey gets better at climbing around. And the flapping is great for those muscles. Did he get clipped before you got him or does he have all his full flight feathers?

I am right there with you. Monsters Inc was on Netflix Watch Instantly and they took it away. THAT was a dark day. It has been replaced with "Dragon Hunters". (As a grandma, I LOVE Netflix!)

I really can't express how relieved I am. I have already bonded so much with Egan and was scared I would have to give him up. Giving up my other two was not an option. I can also let myself off the hook. I feel really good and you guys, all of you, have helped me and supported me and given me the strength to get through it. Thank you all!

On Tuesday I took my other two birds, Paco and Rocky, to the vet who did the necropsy on Neo. He said that they tested for a number of things and that the test for the herpes virus had come back positive. After hearing that my birds were not at a sitter but that the pet sitter was coming to my house he felt that Neo brought this with him when he came to my house. I did not get him from a breeder but rather from someone who takes in birds from other breeders, completes the hand feeding and weaning process and sells them. Anyway, Rocky and Paco both tested negative so my house is now clean and ready for Egan whenever he is ready. And you guys were all correct. I didn't do anything to cause his death.

Two different birds: I have an African Senegal and a Hahn's macaw. I have had them for 17 years. I've never had them dna sexed but any vet they have ever seen guesses female for both based on pelvic bones. They still do not like each other and will fight whenever one encroaches on the others space.

When we had our Direct TV installed, the installer guy was bragging about how he found a grey. He kept it for awhile but didn't like it so he sold it. He made no effort to find the real owner. I'd like to think that all people in this world are decent but unfortunately, some are not. I hope that Murphy finds his way back to you. It is also possible that he can't because someone else has him.

It isn't too bad at this point. Right now I just have to wait in one week increments. I think it's a lot tougher for those who don't have the opportunity to visit regularly.

Yes. He was chewing on the buttons of my shirt. I wear a "special" shirt that I don't wear anyplace else. He can chew it up all he wants.

Here are the latest pictures. Egan is now 10 1/2 weeks old. He weighed 291 grams today. We had a WONDERFUL visit. (I think he loves me!)

I just said the same thing to my husband early this evening. Many of you know that I lost my grey to sudden death in June. As hard as that is, I have closure. (although I'm still waiting for final results. I hope to get those tomorrow.) My heart aches for you reggieroo. I still have hope but can imagine how hard it is for you to keep hold of that. I check here every day before I even check email. I keep hoping, begging, praying, pleading, that I will see good news. God bless you all.

Even if you do quarantine, unless you have the avian vet do blood work you still may have an infected parrot. We got Neo from someone reputable, we took him to the vet and they did the swabs and declared him to be a healthy bird. If we had kept him quanantined for 90 days it still would not have been enough. He was in our house for over 240 before he died. I have had my other two parrots for 17 years so whatever Neo had had to have come with him. I'm taking the other two in for blood tests tomorrow.

Great to meet you, Kim! Good luck in your search.

Only down 1/2 pound this week. That makes 1 1/2 since I started 2 weeks ago. Slow but sure.

Congrats Stevie! Sorry about the hand. Can't wait to see pictures!!!

Last week when I visited I put the entire harness on him at one time. He was fine with it. That was the first time I tried it (at 8 1/2 weeks). After I put him on the table to take his picture, he noticed it and starting chewing on it. I skipped the harness training yesterday because he's in a very "bitey" phase right now. We'll try again next week.

Just find some of your favorite parrot supply places and let your co-workers know that you are registered.

Need some advice or suggestions should I say on a name...

My daughter's Sheltie just had four puppies a week ago. She named them after the Little Einsteins: Annie, June, Leo and Quincy. -
Congratulations!

I only have one picture today. He wasn't in the mood. He is in this phase where he wants to "feed" on fingers and arms and anything else he can get his beak on. Plus he's bigger so his bites are not pleasant. I'll be glad when he gets over this one! ETA: He is 9 1/2 weeks old.

Great to see you Jess! I hope you get more chances to pop in. We miss you too!

You will never guess what happen to me today

Fantastic pictures! Thanks!! -
That's what you get for getting a boy!
