  1. I am currently trying the Ultimate Blend from Bird Paradise...it's more of a healthy blend of seed alternates...but Issac seems to like some of it. Here is a link. http://www.mybirdstore.com/product.cgi?group=232972&product=232973
  2. Yep, he does not prefer the syringe anymore...as of last night he has sort of just makes a mess of it if I try. So, I held out a spoon and he pleasently scoops it up from there. I don't know what I'll do when he completely stops. Ohhh my baby.
  3. Yes JayD, he does sound like something out of Jurassic park these days. Getting on with his parrot self. LOL. It almost sounds like a car starting or something, but not quite...just cute a quiet like. I do make sure to let him at what ever he wants when he is in that 'kill this toy' mode. I can recognize easily when not to mess with him. I will briskly shoo him skywards if he starts acting up typically and avoid pain. Then he just flys off and returns later. But there are those times where I can see him get angry, get a bead on my hand and launch. Not fun...lol. He usually calms down quite a bit after 5 mins in the cage, because he knows that is reserved for only the biggest of offenses....and he is almost NEVER in the cage when I am home. He's a good boy.
  4. Awe, "Yer a star!" I love it. Thanks for sharing this.
  5. Issac has, for the most part, been his same little self lately. One thing that is totally funny that happened the other night is that he will go from being totally crazy, flying around from furniture top to furniture top doing battle cries. Hanging from his toy and getting totally agro on it, going upside down and just being crazy in general. Then about an hour later, become the most cuddly little bird of all time. This part was super cute, he flew down to where I was sitting on the couch and begins to nuzzle his head all up by my feet. So I was scratching and massaging his head and rubbing for like an hour at his personal request. I would stop and he would just jam his head down on my foot rubbing up and down asking for more. I was more than happy to oblige, I love to do it...but this was the longest scratch session I had to date. For that I was in heaven. One sort of scary behavior is this; If I see him go for something and I don't particularly think he should play with it, or he just shouldn't...sometimes he will get angry and try to bite as I take it away or move him. I do my best to keep things that he shouldn't get to out of the way, but sometimes you can't predict so far out. I employ a 5 minute cage time-out in those cases where he tries to attack me, but is that okay to do? Any other way to discourage this behavior? He does also have this new weird sound he makes that makes me laugh. Kinda goes "Rrreeaaarrrrreewewewwwt". Hard to write out, but it's super cute. I also continue to hear him make attempts at speech...or so it seems. He plays with his toys a lot more these days, I have been making them out of things he likes from old toys and other knick knacks I can find. Got him on the Ultimate Blend mix from Bird Paradise, he seems to like that. He has also discovered how to get the nut inside of the palm nut out. He loves to do this. Veggies are back and forth as usual. Some days I come home and nothing is gone, other days, a big pile on the bottom of the cage. I also think he is starting to back off on his formula, can't say for sure...but over the last couple of days, he seems to not enjoy the syringe feeding so much. So I am letting him scoop it out of a spoon. We will see what he does in the coming days. Could my baby finally be weaning?? Well thanks for reading and thanks for all the advice. Cheers all.
  6. Wow, this is truly interesting. I am glad to hear that others have noticed this too. I had been wondering if it was some anxiety based raction or surrounding temperatures. It's really interesting to read peoples recognition of this. Thank you all for responding.
  7. Okay, I was just curious if anyone else experienced this. Sometimes he will fly to me and sit on my knee and I am thinking, "I don't remember his feet being that warm". Most often I am feeling exactly what I expect the temperature to be, but sometimes they feel like they nget warm. LOL...I can't say that I thought about it too much, but thank you for that information JayD "Noooo nooooo not the vent, ahhh man!!"
  8. Now this is something I have never seen discussed...but do you ever notice that the feet of your grey are slightly warmer than you remember for a few moments? Strangest thing and it happens from time to time. Am I just crazy?
  9. Super adoreable. Love the photos.
  10. I am sorry, but I am trying to figure out which thread has the photos. Edit....oops...found em http://www.greyforums.net/forums/showthread.php?189724-Phoebe(tanya)-babys&p=195438#post195438
  11. Yes, I live alone and work full time. Issac seems no worse for the wear when I leave him home for those hours, I also leave some light music playing for him and lots of toys in his cage. On the flip side, I let him out the whole time I am home which is anywhere between 5-8 hours a day of out-time. This is still on the high end for recommended out time. I heard there must be a minimum of 3 hours of out-of-cage time but someone can correct me if I am wrong. I read about some members being gone for 10 hours during the day and their birds are just fine. Just be sure to spend quality time with them when you are home. My schedules can be as follows: Wake up at 7:30 and let Issac out, fed him and such Back to cage around 8:45 for the day, leave some music on and the windows open so he can see outside too. Fresh water and veggies and mix for the day Back home at around 4:30 - 5PM, let him out and feed him (At this point, sometimes I have to go care for my daughter away from home and willbe gone from 6-8PM so i will leave then, otherwise he is out from the time I get home till 10-11PM) Put Issac to bed around 10:30 or so. Repeat Weekends are different, he may have much more attention then. From what I can see, he is a very healthy and happy bird. Read other forums to also see what kind of love and care these guys require as they are highly interactive and need lots of attention. However, your schedule seems to permit owning a grey without the worry of neglect.
  12. Nice pictures JayD. What kind of toast do you give them and do you put anything on it?
  13. A very good point indeed! I have had difficult times with getting Issac wet, I still take him under the shower head and he gives little grunts of annoyance, but I get him wet. I would only recommend to be gentle, try some of the things suggested and go with the one that is of least resistance. Reading all the posts on here about bathing, I have come to see that many get bathed but will always put up a little fuss. Others have total luck, and I have seen videos of greys totally under the shower head with no isses at all.
  14. I love pictures of the little babies. Super cute! Congratulations on your new baby and i look forward to hearing about the new things that happen along the way. It's a great ride.
  15. Thanks again for watching and the nice comments. I show it to Issac too, but I am not sure he gets as soft watching it as I do. Cheers
  16. Best Monty Python skit ever! Here it is for those who have not had the pleasure of seeing this.
  17. There is a series on youtube that is called "Where the Wild Grey's Are". However, I caution because it shows quite a dark side of Parrot trade. If you search this on youtube you will find the 3 part series. If anything, it raises awareness about illegal pet trade and wild Greys. It will wrench your heart, I warn again.
  18. Thank you so much for watching. I even got a bit misty when I put the song behind it. I will continue to capture the moments.
  19. So I took the chronological video clips of Issac, found some good ones and put some music behind the presentation. I think it will all speak for itself, but this is what I originally wanted to attach to my 6 month post. Enjoy
  20. As soon as I have 60 bucks free for play, I want to get one done of Issac. I love it!
  21. Thank you tagurit, reggieroo, chelsea and Judy for your best wishes and reading my thoughts of Issac. I love and appreciate the responses.
  22. Here is another talented parrot that also cries, but...he laughs like a playing baby too. Just watch that expression....LOL.
  23. All the time, and I sing too...and play air guitar...(I will stop there...lol) Do you ever talk to yourself out loud and have conversation with yourself. (Ohh not that I do...noooooooo )
  24. No. Have you ever cuddled another bird behind your birds back?
