Spock didn't say his first words till he was a year old, he still has a small vocabulary, but he answers you correctly, and asks you properly. Now when you call him or question him, he says "What" and "you're kidding". We're using danmcq's technique, talk and answer him correctly and promptly. Maggie

Greeting: Spock here....I HATE bed-time...I DETEST bed-time...there is always something interesting going on, especially when everyone else is in bed for the night. I am King, after all, I should be able to dictate my hours. My "parronts" have a fun game they like to play with me...they call it Tag-Team. I just call it plain fun. They spend an inordinate amount of time trying to get me to go to bed. Maggie is short so all I have to do is fly from high spot to high spot, shower rod, curtain rod, bed-room door, top of the playpen...all are too high for her to reach me. Then Jay comes to get me...now the games begin! He makes me step up and I act compliant for a moment and then off I go again. I like to give Maggie a chance then, so I set down on Joey's cage. I don't want to make it too easy for them. When she comes for me, I reach down and bite her and fly off again. (I have to keep reminding them that I am the King!) I can tell that Maggie loves these bites because she always jumps and yells so I do it again for her. By then, Jay comes over and grabs me. I hang upside down on his fingers and reach up to try to take nips of his fingers (if I am to be taken prisoner, I will go down fighting!) to show my displeasure at this high-handed treatment. By this time though, I am tired although I don't let them see that! I wait dociley for the bed covers and then I rattle my cage door for a minute or two... Last night, Maggie was eating what she told me was a rare Klingon delicacy, "Brussell Sprouts". She dipped them in a sauce and then popped them in her mouth whole...Facinating..I had to try one. Not only was it tasty but it was fun too! It shredded like a pinata toy. I took bites and then threw some here and there while I ate...such joy! Such Bliss! It is only logical... They would not let me try their tubed meat sandwiches though (Hot dogs). I never saw a sandwich such as this before and I wanted a bite but they refused. I did get to lick it though when I flew over to Maggie's hand and she wasn't fast enough...Hmmm...interesting... Well, I have to go...Jay has found his phone....and the little keys off to the side.... " SPOCK!!!!!!!!!!!! WHAT DID YOU DO?" "Nothing....." Spock

IT'S GOOD TO BE KING! Greetings, Spock here (King of the Terrible Two's)...it has been a while since I have addressed my subjects...some of you have been a little testy lately, not reading all threads through before replying. It's not logical...So, let's get back to me...:rolleyes: Yesterday, I snuck out of my cage. No puny human locks will keep me from my escape. I was standing on my favorite perch (the curtain rod) while my silly humans uncovered my cage and found out I was gone. I had slipped out from under my covers while they were preparing my feast. It was amusing to watch them running around trying to find me. I let them wander aimlessly for a moment and then said "Good morning. Wanna eat!" So with my appetizer of peanut butter, main course of Smash, with side dishes of split peas, lentils, pasta dish plain and with tomato sauce and a pine nut for dessert, I was ready to face the day and terrorize some of my flock.:cool: I said to myself, "I think I'll pick on Salsa today"...Every time Salsa would sneak into Joey's cage for a snack, I stand in the doorway and torment her until Jay or Maggie would yell out "Spock! Leave Salsa alone!". I'd just answer "WHAT?" They would come and rescue her. They didn't let me play that game too long. So fine....I decided to play with Maggie's hair. She had a new thingie in her hair, I heard them say it was a "rubber band" so I bit it like I bite everything. It snapped me in the beak, I yelped and flew off to the fridge. That's somewhere where NO bird should ever have to boldly go to...:mad: Later on that afternoon, I flew back to her head and had revenge on that thingie...I took my giant dump on it....so THERE!! I guess I'd better go, Jay found his phone and ....you think keyboards are fun...try a phone with text buttons...those are really fun! I removed three....I removed keys w, e and a funny symbol one....oooopppsss!!! Spock

Spock here!!! I've missed you! Will you move and leave Ecko forever? or be with him on weekends? He's my Brother from another mother! I didn't know you weren't getting a long. You have to go on with your schooling, but it will be at the expense of Ecko!!! Re-read all your Ecko threads... In this case, go to school, but wait to get another baby till all is stable.... Tango is "Mrs. Clean", white and all...two to three times a day, she will clean out her cage. We have a plastic bird bowl and she will fill it with scraps of paper, chunks of wood, whatever she is done with and when she is done she will toss the bowl out the door onto the floor. When her bowl is full, and she has tossed it out, whatever is left in the cage is tossed out too. She has a mean under-head softball toss.... whatever she throws gets tossed halfway across the room. About half-hour before bed-time, she does this all again. Only this time, any leftover food in the cage, bowls etc, she post-hastily throws out of the cage. Then she will sit on top of the cage and wait for you to bring her fresh food, pellets, veggies and night-time treat. She started this about two months after she came to be with us. I do a minor cleaning around 8am and then a major cleaning around 7pm. LOL Maggie

Everything sounds great! May I make a suggestion? Baby food; read the labels...most baby foods are high in vitamin A and Iron. A small amount of baby food occasionally is fine. Don't stop! May I suggest; it's time to switch to a more natural food. Get yourself a sweet potato/yam (white or orange), cut in half and put in a microwave safe dish. Cover with water and cook for approximately ten minutes, turn it over and cook it again for ten more minutes. It is done when you can stick a knife through it. (You can also cut it in chunks and boil it in a pan of water til soft). Our fids like it warm. You can peel it and use it with his other veggies...or you can use Spock's Smash recipe...Enjoy... Always invite Ozzy, perch him on your finger at chest level, and ask him if he would like to get on your shoulder! say "don't bite" lift him up and tell him to step down, if he nips or bites tell him, I don't like that and step him up and remove him, turn your head and ignore him for a moment... After 37 years of birds and each other, we always compare at the end of the day, all our markings and blood marks. We have everything from toenail scratches to chunks missing... Jayd and I went to the doctor the other day...we always schedule our appointments together and go in together. A Grey and Amazon bite with their upper and lower beak and do nice punctures. Some of the others are the same....an Amazon likes to puncture and pinch, leaving bruises. A big 'Too does what we call "bopping", you walk by and she "bopps" you on the arm or back with her beak. It's like getting slugged by someone...and they leave BIG bruises! show the one on his bicep at which point shThe nurse came in and noticed the bruises on my forearm. Jay started rolling up his sleeve to show his bicep when she asked "What happened?". Jay answered "Our birds bopped us." She looked quizzically at both of us and asked "Are you sure you weren't getting a little rough with each other?" We both said no, our birds did it. She started to say,"I want proof of your birds" when the Doctor entered asking "Hows your birds?'' [We fledged his] the nurse left the room quite red faced..........Maggie
