Greetings; Spock here....looking over Maggie's shoulder at some of the posts written by JulesgreyUk, Jilliebeanie and others from across the pond, I have decided that I want to be KING of the TERRIBLE TWOS....Go where no bird has gone before (until they catch me) I know how to talk back now...I will perch on the fridge and Jay sticks that big beak of his next to mine and say "gimme a kiss, gimme a kiss" and I answer him by talking in "Grey-nese" bobbing my head up and down and bopping him on his beak and he starts laughing...so I land on his head and bury my talons into his scalp so I can do a Vulcan Mind-Meld and I know it is successful because he yells "SPOCK! SPOCK!". Just think, the first Grey King! (Well, they all wear gray don't they?) I have my flock ready and handy at my disposal...and if they don't support me I will just fly over and buzz them until they submit and squawk my name. The first order of the day will be pomegranates, buttons, bobby pins and lamp-posts complete with Spock music to dance by. I like the Hookey-Pookey and they can tuck bills in my Aviator harness... The second order of business: No bed-time til I decide it's bed-time. It is very hard to keep fluttering away from my "parronts" and beaking them when they tag-team me and tell me they love me while trying to put me to bed. If they loved me, they would not try to catch me and put me to bed before I am ready... We definitely have to do something about Tango, that BIG white bird...I think she thinks she is BIG BROTHER or something...she sits around and watches everything, I think she has a hidden camera and shows everything we do while our "parronts" are gone...how can I rule with her around? Besides, she has that big Yellow crown she puts on and takes off...what's up with that? My subject, Salsa, needs shackles because she is a sneak-thief and takes everything she can and boy, can she run! Joey...I don't know...I am not sure he even listens to me... Fine, we'll try it for a while and I will keep you all posted.... Spock (the Grey King) Live Long and Prosper

Greetings, Spock here...I now have a new hobby which my "parronts" don't approve of...:mad: I like to play on the lamp post and twirl around. Sometimes I like to climb up and explore the light-bulb. Just when I really start having fun, they come and take me off of it and take it away. I can't get the cord either because it is buried in the tube. I have no choice now but to fly over and buzz all the others... Well, it is time for me to sign off. I have to go where no parrot has gone before.... Spock Live Long and Prosper

Spock, Did I push the right button?

Greetings, Spock here...well, it has been an exciting few weeks. I have discovered that I can play mind games with Jay and I don't even need to do a Vulcan Mind-Meld. In fact, yesterday, I heard Jay yelling Joey's name (Joey decided he would take advantage and fly off while Jay was gone from the room). I heard the concern in his voice and thought I would play a little joke. When he came down the hall, I stared down at the bed and made noises like Joey was in here with me. When Jay started looking around, I kept staring like he was on the floor next to the bed. It was all I could do not to snicker as Jay got on his hands and knees to look under the bed too. I soon tired of that joke and when Jay left to look for Joey in the other room, I just sat there with a birdie grin on my face. When I saw that Joey flew into the kitchen, I decided to join the fun and perched myself on my favorite stand (Jay's head). I don't think he always likes it though because sometimes he says words that I have heard Maggie tell him not to say so I won't repeat them. (I like those words though...they sound like lots of fun!! I hear Buddy say them every once in a while too) I have learned quite a few new words and phrases. I love to stand on the bathroom or bedroom doors and try them all out. That is one of my favorite times of the day...the others are playing or taking a nap, the house is quiet and I can hear myself talk. I can't wait for Joey to start flying all over the house. It will be so much fun to chase each other around. When Maggie talks to Jay about it, she shivers...I know she is so excited too! We have some new and exotic foods lately and they are fun to eat and play with. I like to take a bite of the little yellow things, brown things and green things (yellow split peas, lentils and green split peas) and I can throw them too...Joey, Salsa and I all eat from a big plate at the same time. Sometimes I try to fight Joey while we eat but Maggie just takes me away (I can't have any fun!) so I just fly over to Joey's food dish to snack on his seeds. Tango, the big white bird, likes to climb over to Salsa's cage and play with her toys and then she climbs over and eats out of my bird seeds. We all like to share...Ooops! Got to go...I don't want Jay to see what I did with the fun little rubber toy things at the top of the computer....AAAAWWWKKKK... Spock!! Spit it out and give it back to me...Dang it Spock... Spock (and Maggie)

Today while I was at work and poor Jay was holding down the fort (and praying for patience:P ), nature called and he had to answer. When he came back out into the living room (now known as the main bird room), he discovered that Joey was not on his cage. He looked around and didn't see him and he saw Spock on the bedroom door, looking toward the bed and making sounds. Jay figured he was in there so he went in and looked at the bed...no Joey. Spock still was looking at the bed and making sounds so Jay did a more thorough search...no Joey! He then carefully walked on tiptoes so he would not step on any birds on the floor as he went back into the living room. He looked over to the curtain (an Indian blanket) and there Joey was on the curtain between Tango's and Salsa's cages. Jay reached out and Joey started to reach for his fingers but then he decided to FLY!!! :woohoo: He flew out between the cages, made a sharp right turn, up and over the kitchen divider, right turn at the window and landed on the printer (same spot as his first flight) Then Spock flew out and landed on Jay's head as Joey stepped up. Jay praised Joey and gave him a pretzel and Spock just snickered. So, Spock really faked Jay out, making him think that Joey was in the bedroom because Spock is really good about pointing out when one of the birds jump their cage....  Maggie {Feel-good-0002006E} Spock here...hehehehehe:evil:

Post edited by: Spock, at: 2010/04/12 02:44

Joey, our rescue Grey was clipped quite short when we got him and we don't know if he even knew how to fly before we got him. When he would first perch on Jay's hand, Jay would exercise his wings by lifting him up and down, forcing him to eventually to flap his wings. His outer flight feathers have grown in before his inner flight feathers. He has made a few flights on a downward angle but he doesn't know how to stop forward momentum and ends up crashing but has not been harmed. Today, he finally got enough lift and flew out about seven feet high, cleared the living-room/kitchen divider, made a sharp right turn and almost gracefully landed by Jay at the counter by the window. This was the first time he's made a turn without running into anything. (Landed like a gooney bird) He stepped up on Jay's finger and stood proud and tall! You could honestly see that he was proud of himself.:woohoo: Greys are truly amazing at expressing emotions...He stood there tall, feathers smooth, eyes open wide, said "ORT?" and gave Jay a couple of kisses on his nose and just looked at Spock who was on Jay's head... You could see him shine and he knew it... Maggie

On our main street here in Bullhead City that we drive everyday, there is a taxidermist and the business name is "Back to Nature Taxidermy". The gentleman probably sets them up in his back yard in a diorama so he could play with them. That led us to the discussion about what he would feed them and we decided he feeds them.... **STUFFING**... {Feel-good-0002006E} Sorry...I could not resist...  Maggie
