  1. Good save they are such experts when it comes to finding trouble.
  2. Try putting an Almond innside the cup then crushing the cup for a foraging treat.
  3. I only use pelleted food as a supplement to the diet more for variety than anything else so I am no help.
  4. My not a Grey Elanora Cockatoo has been a self mutilator for years so I will be following your study closely.
  5. Glad he is on a healthier path, good to know that you shared your lesson as well you may help more birds than you know.
  6. Your reaction of dismay when he goes for those items that are taboo feed his need for attention and drama so those items will remain at the very top of the "fun" list.
  7. Love it, you have to keep a sense of humor during rough times.
  8. Just enjoy the closeness while it lasts.
  9. Our Avian Veterinarian says safe as long as it is in good shape, when the element start to break it down then it can be dangerous. We would be replacing it at that point anyway.
  10. Floodwaters turning Aussies into glow-in-the-dark mutant Smurfs
  11. I wonder what component is the difference maker in that, do let us in on the results. .
  12. Persist in offering both fruits and veggies they are sight feeders so eat what they recognize as food or what they see their flock enjoying. This is your hint to eat with gusto some of the things you are offering your bird where they can see exactly what you are doing. Do use lip smacking yummy sound effects to help encourage them, let them bite from the other side of what ever you are eating in front of them..
  13. That should give your heart some comfort knowing what a great home she will be living in.
  14. An amazing talker indeed, low maintenance as well. How is your Grey doing with any jealousy issues?
  15. You may want to check his toys for a sharp edge to avid any more sore tongues. Very happy for you and Rambo that his issue should heal it's self, very good news.
  16. I have lived with swimming cats as well and had one that would "fall in the bathtub" so often it could not have been that clumsy. Moderation in all things is right we just have to remind the new folks what may be harmful-no non stick cookware even in moderation.
  17. Waiting for an update hope it is something simple to correct.

    Beans....

Black beans and raw Limas are not the healthiest but are safe when cooked . Garbonzo, dried Peas and Lentils, Red beans, Mung beans are among the more nutritious choices. I cook some grains with them like Quinoa, Spelt, Barley and chop some dark greens and sweet potato to toss in at the end of cooking then cover and let steam a few minutes before cooling enough to serve. You can freeze and serve later as well.

    Beans....

The post mortem results I read pointed to an enlarged heart as his cause of death.
  20. Welcome and caution birds as companions seem to attract more birds. Look forward to learning more about you both. Paulie, wonder if she /he was named after the famous Parrot from San Fransico?
  21. For the record I live with 3 Geys one male Timneh and two CAG's both female.
  22. No naughty step just be prepared and my feeling it is easier to avid injury than to treat it and avoid adding "I wish I had known better" to the wound.
  23. Thinking of you and Annabella, stop by and give us an update when you can please.
  24. I volunteer at a Sanctuary and through observation and experience I can tell you that 2 or more Grey that get along very well perhaps for years can suddenly (like us )have a disagreement that involves loss of toes, foot or beak damage requiring Veterinary attention. That is why most of us keep our birds in seperate cages allowing play time out together when supervised. Reattaching toes is not successful.
