  1. This condition can lead to a case of MBS (multiple bird syndrome) use caution.
  2. Saw your shout for help, what's up?

  3. I would make raisins an infrequent part of the diet as they are high in iron and our birds don't need that much iron.
  4. I think he is knowingly expressing discomfort in the new swing. May be going out on a limb with that remark but it fits the behaviors I think he is expressing himself and may be working his way up to a brave new step there.
  5. Maybe Sky or Bungee a very handssome Grey you have in your life.
  6. Sounds like obstructed respiration.and does require immediate attention.
  7. Thank you for sharing him with all of us, we are all enriched by his life and love story.
  8. So touching to see the love you had with Linus and he will leave a hole in your heart for a while. It will heal and his good memories will help to fill that empty space in your hearts. Lots of love and hugs from this heart to yours.
  9. Happily returned home that is a greyt ending to a scary adventure.
  10. Just a Bird From time to time, people tell me, "Lighten up, it's just a bird," or, "That's a lot of money for just a bird." They don't understand the distance traveled, the time spent, or the costs involved for "just a bird." Some of my proudest moments have come about with "just a bird." Many hours have passed when my only company was "just a bird," but I did not once feel slighted. Some of my saddest moments have been brought about by "just a bird," and in those days of darkness, the gentle touch of "just a bird" gave me comfort and reason to overcome the day. If you, too, think it's "just a bird," then you will probably understand phases like "just a friend," "just a sunrise," or "just a promise." "Just a bird", brings into my life the very essence of friendship, trust, and pure unbridled joy. "Just a bird", brings out the compassion and patience that make me a better person. Because of "just a bird", I will rise early, and look longingly to the future. So for me and folks like me, it's not "just a bird" but an embodiment of all the hopes and dreams of the future; the fond memories of the past, and the pure joy of the moment. "Just a bird" brings out what's good in me, and diverts my thoughts away from myself and the worries of the day. I hope that someday they can understand that it's not "just a bird," but the thing that keeps me from being "just a human." So the next time you hear the phrase "just a bird." just smile, because they... ...."just don't understand." We do.... :-) Anon
  11. Like a toddler human distraction works wonders, change the focus of his attention a new toy a treat sing into the mirror any thing different.
  12. Your bird is ringing -please answer. lol life with Greys is never boring.
  13. Perhaps he has something stuck under the lower lid, putting him in the shower for a good soaking may help flush it out. If your Vet approves you might find some Simillisan drops for red irritated eyes it is homeopathic and very safe to use. My husbands Ophthalmologist suggested it for his sensitive eyes.
  14. Nice progress and Happy Hatchday Linus!!
  15. I see her picture now-duh, Amazons are much lazier than Greys so it might not be quite the same nut it is still a safety thing. I like the Kaylor Collor & have also used the Aviator Harness it comes with an instruction video, the Feather Tether is another good one very reasonable, any of them takes a little time to introduce the idea to them though.
  16. Cooked salmon and Tuna are both safe and our Avian Veterinarian recommends feeding some once a week or so. Chicken and Turkey bones (cooked) are also safe. I would avoid hot dogs they contain high sodium levels and preservatives, most Ham is also high in sodium and sometimes sugars as well, the cube steak should be low fat if fed at all.
  17. These guys are so creative in find new ways to hurt themselves. Whisper took off into the front room of the house and landed on a smooth feaux wooden floor. I went to step her up and she had a bleeding toe injury? Like magic how they appear to do these things. got the bleeding stopped, disinfected the wound and started on antibiotics. Hope to find out what happened to Rambo's tongue.
  18. I would hope you have that baby on a harness and leash. Any sudden sound or threat could make Amy react with a flight response. It may not have happened yet but Greys can fly when stressed even with clipped wings. I know of several birds that have been lost and even two that have been taken by Harwks right offf thier humans shoulder, so please use safety awareness prior to loosing your precious Amy. I answer the phone for the local exotic bird Sanctuary and often am contacted by people whose Greys have flown away from people they love and who love them.
  19. Will be awaiting results and thinking of you and Rambo.
  20. Very nice-so difficult to get them to cooperate with our seasonal photos, good job! Happy Valentines to all and your flocks.
  21. To be safe I suggest getting him and a fresh dropping to the Vet. What their droppings look like depends a great deal on what they have eaten or chewed on red pellets =red droppings ect. This sound a bit more complicated and will wait to see what the Vet says, at least give them a call and describe what has been going on. See if feels safer in a pillow case or a paper grocery bag for a quick transport. Many things can be present in the droppings and not always show up on a microscope slide especially if the droppings are not super fresh. Did they take any blood to test?
  22. Yasi is now starting to weaken, sending prayers for those affected. Here in Texas we are having rolling blackouts lasting about 45 min to an hour at a time. Having to go bring birds inside at the Sanctuary after work as our heat lamps are affected.
  23. Welcome Sheryl & Sydney so glad you have shared your difficult story. Living with a mutilation bird is an up and down roller coaster with the good days and bad ones. If any one can understand it is me with Fred the E2 who came to us after having to have two surgeries to close his chest . He will most likely spend his life in jacket and collar but he is a happy loving bird for all that. You are on a good track with the holistic fresh healthy foods, frequent baths, lots of shredding toys and a great Veterinarian to back you up.
  24. Happy bird, happy bath and a fun recording to share-nice.
