Just wondering about Acrylic Bird Cages.
I have a lorikeet and his poo is like liquid. It's soo hard to keep everything clean. Espically from my floor! I have a blanket around the cage because it's so projectile. But I hate the way the blanket makes my house look.
Anyway...what do you guys think about them?
I thought about buying one for my lorikeet to keep his place cleaner and mine!
I know I need to look at one that have plenty of ventilation. The place I'm looking has climbing bars that hang on the inside...which, my bird loves to climb, so I would get that. And a wire top (more air flow too) because he loves to hang upside down and hang off his toys.
They add (good)perches in them and places for food/water and necture.
here is the website I'm thinking about
http://www.acrylicbirdcages.com/
They work with me and build it custom for me.
I'm just doing research before I actually do something.

Post edited by: Jingles, at: 2009/09/24 19:23
I have a wood toy that is like a cage with nuts inside. My grey hasn't touched it. In fact, I stuck it in (mil took the chain off for some reason) front corner of his cage and it's scooted to the back corner where he doesn't go...
But yea, I worry about those little pieces too. My theory is if I worry about it, take it out.
Jasper - our grey - GURGED on me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Several times, within a 30 min. period.
He really prefers my DH, but I can do just about anything to him. But he gurged on me!!!!
I'm so excited. I just had to share my excitment.
Anyone watch it?
I was in TEARS over can't think of her name...you know who I'm talking about.
I can not imagine losing my husband, child and newborn!!!
But, it put a spark under me to lose the baby weight!!!
Yea, my daughter is 3... lol but never to late, right?
I would not bathe my birds (they take showers with me) as much...(not because of anything, usually it's because my daughter is always in bathroom with me and it's nice to have a shower by myself!)
But when it's not her, she's telling me that jax or jasper wants a bathe and pulls my hand to go get them. (She's 3)
my Jax (lorikeet) came to us ... oh my, it was horrible! Clipped, clipped and more clipped. Poor thing can not even glide to the floor.
I've decided to grow his feathers out and let him try. Jasper (grey) can fly...and poor Jax watches him like a hawk and then tries but just can't do it.
So, we're in the same boat!!!
danmcq - I think you might have to be concerned about #9!!!
But only if it lands on you!!! (and of course the other reasons)
jessdecutie18 - that's funny about the roomba! But that's cool that she will show your dh where she wants to be scratched with her foot. My dh is my grey's favorite...but he only lets me really get a good head scratch in! (weird huh)
Thanks cf737! I love your number 10...how sweet!!!! But pulling buttons of your cell phone? oh no!
Christina - do you give her a head of lettuce leaf (wet)? I've heard some like that to roll around in and take a bath...
luvparrots - I would love to see the way you bathe your Ana Grey!
Joolesgreyuk - I have GOT to see a picture of Argyle sleeping with his head in the bell!
I love my sandy perches! I however do not get the slip on covers made with lose sand...only stuck on sand. I can scrub my sandy perches without anything falling off.
But yea...I think a medium would do. plus the fact that they are not one shape is awesome too!
Hi! I'm new myself
Sounds like you're making great progress with her already! I can't wait to hear what she talks about when she starts talking your ear off!
Update!!!
Well, I have stopped 'stroking' Jax on his back. (duh..) and I have stopped being a afraid that every time I pick him up, he's going to bite me. If he starts to take a nibble, I say very sternly, no bite and put him back in his cage.
and... Wall-la...haven't been bitten for a while now!
JillyBeanz - LOL @ #10! But I must agree...I like white wine better as well!
Jasper (TAG)
1 - LOVES Hubby... he likes me and will let me do anything to him, but when hubby comes around... Jasper is all his!
2 - Not really into toys yet...
3 - I let him shower with me... first time he loved it... second time he was leaning away and giving me that, are you serious look.
4- hates squirrels!
5 - still pretty clumsy
Jax (Lorikeet)
1 - has conversations with the floor of his play area
2 - lays on his back and kicks his toys
3 - he sure gets squawky when playing with his toys
4 - does not like his back being touched
5 - he says my name and when someone else says him name he puffs up and looks around for me
dhorje - I'm soooo sorry!
Loveparrots - OK! It's hilaroius to see him lay on his back and bat his toys around. He hops around his cage and talks to the bottom of it...while banging his beak against it. He is so trying to learn how to talk...he mumbles so much! It's so cute!
Thank you for asking!!! I'll post pictures soon!
