  3. Welcome, there's a good one here in Arizona if you don't mind the drive! Ohhhh, forgot about the cost of gas!! Welcome, photo's!!!! Jayd, Maggie, Spock and the flock...
  4. I personally wouldn't do it.[i don't do it] A baby formula is packed with every thing a baby to weaned bird needs. Mid way through the feeding process we introduce solid foods to teach the young ones to join the real world. A Grey can thrive and live a long and healthy life, with out eating palm nuts...So, if you choose not to feed you bird palm nuts, that's not a problem. Palm nuts are not a guarantee of a proper and nutritional diet! Thanks Jayd
  5. Dan, thank you so much, your advice is what these new parront's need. As Dan and others have said, a vet check will give you the answers we can't, because we're not there! A bird will his hide illness till it's sometimes to late, some vets will take payments! Make a thread stating where you live and ask if any one can recommend a good vet!!!!
  6. What your doing is great, the feedings are fine. A little seed are good for Grey's, they need the extra protein. Try your best to get your own scale, the twins need to be weighed every day after they poop and before breakfast. Other than their weight, we have no way of telling if their sick or not till it's sometimes to late. For the rest of their lives you'll need to weigh them once a week after their28 weeks old or so! Jackson is a nice name. Thanks for the info....Jayd
  7. What your doing is really good, Harrison's is one of the best foods on the market. What makes these foods so good isn't the single ingredient, but the combination of all ingredients combined!!! The UVB is great...Thanks Jayd
  8. Your post is grey't, Will always surpport you and offer what ever help we can give...Jayd, Maggie, Spock and the flock, and the Forum!!!! Less one.
  9. Isn't it grey't , The Grey Forums is free forum where you can say what ever you want, even give support to some one who gets bit!!! I support each one of these people, in what any way they need. If any one gets bit, I'll be the 1st to say I'M SORRY.. even you my friend! Jayd
  10. Just to cute!!!!!! Jayd, Maggie, Spock and the Flock
  11. Here's a thread I did not to long ago,might be helpful: http://www.greyforums.net/forums/showthread.php?188081-Calcium-Food-or-Sun
  12. Chard is high in salt, where beet greens isn't, a little chard on occasion, like spinach is ok. Green-leaf, iceberg and watercress, is mostly water, very little nutritional value, dark leafy greens are not only good supplier's, but help with absorption of major nutrients. Radicchio and endive are ok as well as Carrot tops, Turnip greens, kale and mustard greens. Watercress: It is a moderate source of beta-carotene and vitamin C. Because it grows in water, be selective and use only watercress from a safe, reputable source to avoid waterborne illness. Jayd
  13. Palm nuts have one of the highest amounts of EFA's.Essential Fatty Acid's, Most diet's are lacking this. Palm nuts, the part our fids eat is high in unsaturated fat, which is good for our Grey's also. Again, Safflowers are high in EFA's and are ok for our Greys, where no more than a half teaspoon of sunflower seeds should be given to them a day. One or two almonds a day are ok. Grey's receive a small amount of calcium from food or supplements, their not like most parrots, they don't absorb it well, a Grey receives the most from sunlight, unfiltered, or UVB Full-spectrum lighting. Read the ingredient's in Harrison's.LoL One of the best sources for D3/calcium is Dark Green Leafy veggies, Dandelion leaf's being number 1.....Jayd
  14. Tanya, I wish I could be there to help. Your twin's are fine, What time do you feed them at bed time? See if you can find a scale. Nothing to be afraid about... Their doing great and so are you........Jayd
  15. Thank you, My questions were just me thinking out loud. LoL At her age, her weight should be stable, no loss,no gain...Most of our fids are rescue or re-home, I've seen this so many time, it makes me sick...Freddy's our worst case. Good luck, sorry I couldn't help you...Jayd, Maggie, Spock and the Flock
  16. That's OK, Lets feed them twice a day,[12 hour's apart] What time do you feed them at night? Jayd
  17. Could you please start posting a after big poop weight each morning? It would be greatly appreciated. I wonder if they used to spray her with a squirt gun or something? as punishment? or to be quiet?brings a tear to my eye!!! Keep up the good job....Jayd
  18. Thank you...I always wanted a large family...ROFLOL...With only two boys who are scattered all over the world, these fids are all our babies...It takes me about three hours to get all the cages cleaned, changed etc. Then I get all the veggies ready for the next day.In the morning, I run around like a chicken with my head cut off before work, passing out plates of fruit/veggies for the bird room fids before I leave for work. Thank goodness for Jay's help...he passes out all the plates for the big birds after breakfast time. Maggie
  19. I've been working with this person in deciding rather she should get a rescue or not. All re-homes are different, A Grey won't starve it's self to death. Your going to have to gain her trust. Picking up sounds can also be from being nervous..Check out these sites, they might help you understand whats going on with your Grey. I hope you chose to contact Dave007. 21. Welcome, you need to take this baby to a vet ASAP! don't worry about changing the diet right now, give her a chance to get used to her new home, don't give her much fruit, if shes eating seeds and pellets, keep a lot of them in her cage..I'm going to give you a couple of links to proper bathing, and I want you to PM, Dave007, tell him I sent you, and ask him to read this thread!!!!Please..Not to much apple juice!!!Stop the sunflower seeds, crackers, peanuts, pickles!!!
