1. Well I've purchased my ear plugs. I purchased them at a store that sales hardware.. designed for those who work in construction. They are pretty comfortable and very very cheap. Mine are not the disposable type. Both of my parrots watched me insert them in my ears and seem pretty puzzled. Oh well! I am actually wearing my ear plugs right now and am patiently waiting either of my parrots to call out somehow... but they are quiet like bunnies. It will be interesting to see how this pans out.
2. Thanks for the sympathy guys. Emma isn't constantly LOUD in fact she is pretty quiet but there are moments when her calls really catch me by surprise and yes especially when she is either on me or very close. She started talking since she was 10 months old and now she is 1 year old since yesterday. I'm not complaining but I do wish to preserve my hearing. Here is a video of her afraid of the shadows on the ceiling. and one of her horsing around. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VABU41KGFmE
3. These look pretty neat and sure to keep our greys occupied! http://www.parrotpockets.com/
4. Aww! He is absolutely gorgeous! I don't use a harness but I do use an Adventure pack for my little girls. I don't have a picture of my grey in the adventure Pack but here is one of my Pionus parrot Sachi. I take my parrots for walks in it and even to the vet.B)
5. Hi Ram! Welcome aboard and looking forward to reading more about Rishi!
6. Thanks for the hatchday wishes everyone. Emma appreciates all of them.
7. I am strongly thinking of purchasing ear plugs. I wonder if any of you have already purchased them. There are times that I feel that Emma is going to make me deaf at some point. Especially when she decides to call out very loud while on my shoulder. Now that Spring time is just around the corner she seems to be MUCH MUCH louder and excitable too. So in the spirit of protecting my hearing I must find some excellent quality ear plugs. Any feedback appreciated.

9. Thanks guys. Here's a picture of when I first met her.
10. I think giving regular showers may help a bit.
11. Hi all! Today is Emma's 1rst birthday. Time has really flown with her around. I'm really glad that I took that leap of faith when I first saw her and decided that it was now or never. I had been wanting a grey for a very long time but had kept putting it off either because I felt that I wasn't quite ready, or the chemistry wasn't there or blah blah blah. When I first held Emma I knew it was right. Today she is quite the yakker and has really flourished. I love her very much and know that the best is yet to come! 12. Hi Kristin! Welcome aboard. Looking forward to sharing and learning from you too. B)
13. I cover Emma's cage partially only. The room is already pretty dark. The cover is mostly for privacy.

Post edited by: lovethatgrey, at: 2009/03/07 15:24
14. Emma weighs a solid 400 grams! Post edited by: lovethatgrey, at: 2009/03/07 02:44

Post edited by: lovethatgrey, at: 2009/03/07 02:46
15. I keep the grate in Emma's cage. It slides out so once a week I give it a thorough washing with Oxyfresh. Although she doesn't visit the bottom much I'd hate for her to soil her feet or eat food that is spoiled.... then I'd have bigger problems than just cleaning her grate.B)
16. I personally don't give any type of dairy to my parrot Emma. My avian vet told me that parrots don't have what it takes to digest dairy products although they may love the taste of it.

Post edited by: lovethatgrey, at: 2009/03/10 00:44
