  1. Sachi and her pricey FootToy Buffet! She doesn't like to eat from her Freedom Buffet. She'd rather have her foottoys in it. This has been since October 2009!
  2. Here is my opinion about your post. Parrots are VERY intelligent creatures. It is important that you adapt your living environment to your parrot and not the other way around. He's being a "normal parrot. If you don't want him to touch or damage something, remove it or put it away temporarily. Do you have any out of cage hanging gyms for him with lots of entertaining toys that he can call his very own? I can understand his need to race around the place during his first hour of freedom at the end of your work day. I'd like to recommend spending some quality time with him when you arrive home from work... I think he needs one on one QUALITY attention from you for a little bit. I'm sure he missed you all day. Afterwards you can concentrate on dinner or what not. jmo
  3. Thanks Dan! I will have to check Cosmo out. Who knows... perhaps one day I'll write a book about Emma too! LOLOLOL!
  4. Someone asked me today if Emma my african grey was my favourite of my two parrots. I stopped to think about it and said no.. they are both very special in their own ways and enrich my life in unique ways. I have a very close relationship with each of them. I do not favour one over the other and wouldn't trade either of them for anything. I also think it helps that I only have 2 at the moment. Additional parrots would be a balancing act for sure and there would definitely be a "transitional" period to adjust to. They are both very approachable to my SO and others but I'm pretty much the person who does everything for them day in and day out. I must admit that Emma requires me to be "more talkative" than I wish to be sometimes, but otherwise, I provide the both of them, the same amount of time, toys, care etc.. My relationship with each of them is similar but distinct. How about you guys? Do you favour one over the other or inadvertently don't spend as much time with one of your parrots as you know you should?
  5. Hahahaha!! I've never done this before and it's hilarious to read about this happening to someone else. Don't worry. You'll be ok and you won't be dying from this either.
  6. Wowee!! Great photo and HUGE chilli!!
  7. No candles, aromatherapy, plug in, potpourri are used in our home.
  8. At this point in time.. I don't need to repeat much with Emma. She repeats what she feels is interesting. In fact, I must be careful about what I should NOT repeat! I've given up the idea of working from home as well. She would just take it all in.
  9. That is truly nice. Kind of makes me think of Emma and me! Thanks for sharing Jilly!
  10. Yup! I definitely have a special shirt. Just in case poop accidents happen and to save me from scratches when they decide to land on me.
  11. If I were in your situation, I would limit the offering to 2-3 per day. I think they can be used as a complementary "enrichment food" to an existing balanced diet but I wouldn't allow him to fill himself up on mostly these Palm nuts.
  12. Personally, I'm not certain that enduring bites and discomfort from your grey is the way to go. I don't use any type of aviator harness on my Emma but I most certainly will not tolerate being afraid of her or being bitten in that manner because the experience would not be pleasant for either of us. I think it might be a good idea to step back and pay attention to when your parrot is demonstrating "that he is not comfortable" with this activity anymore and then to just let it go and move on to another activity. You can try again later. Baby steps. Getting your grey comfortable with a harness will take ALOT of time and patience. It may be very slow paced but if done correctly, the experience of learning can be great for the both of you. Do view and study the dvd that comes with the aviator harness as often as possible as welll.
  13. This is a sad but important topic for me. There are 2 people in the US who I would have liked to have Emma and Sachi live with. I live in Canada The crazy load of paperwork and the imposed "QUARANTINE" in some kind of facility would have such a negative impact on the both of them. I'm sure it would be drastic for them and I worry a lot about that. I will try to find a VERY good home for them in Canada so I don't have to put them through that.
  14. What awesome photos and what a lucky fid!!
  15. I think it would be a very good idea to contact the company who sold you the palm nuts.
  16. At the moment I give Emma 2.5 almonds per day. I wonder if this is enough?
  17. Thanks all! You are all so sweet with all of your nice compliments. Crossfit, please tell Hawkins that Emma says hi! Nice to know that there are other greys around the world who enjoy watching Emma as well. Elevenking.. I'm starting to believe that "my voice" has something to do with Emma's interest in talking. Even when I am reading out my grocery list aloud, she is quite attentive. Lol!!
  18. Thank you very much Pearlyn. Glad you enjoy her.

  19. I purchased it a Chopperstoys.com It is called PaperPandemonium. If you look in the toy section of this forum.. I posted a video recently of Emma playing with it. You'll have a clearer view of it.
  20. The clicking sound is Emma imitating me "clapping" my hands.
  21. Thanks for the reminder Dave! I really appreciate your reminders.
