HappyinGreece: He is 8 weeks old and yes I am hand feeding him. I have experience in hand feeding from breeding cockatiels before so its pretty easy, he is so much easier to feed than those little cockatiels lol. My mother is also a big help. I got the DNA kit from http://avianbiotech.com/ its free for the kit and cost $24.50 for the results. I realized once I started reading the directions that they had to be plucked from his chest feathers because they DNA the tissue at the end of the feathers. I'm kinda scared to pluck the feathers from him even though they say it won't hurt him. lol

Hey everyone, Well he's home!! And boy is he such a joy to have! He is sooo precious! I absolutely love this little guy and I can't take my eyes off of him. He is so curious and he won't stop playing with his toys. He makes the funniest noises when he plays with them too. He has been eating these tropical pellets that he loves and some apples. Right now he is preening himself in his cage, ahh he is too cute! I still don't know if its really a he but the breeder said they are 90% sure its a boy because he is so big and the square head! She didn't get a chance to DNA him so I'm going to wait til some feathers fall out and DNA him myself, I already have the DNA kit. Well I will update you guys again. Here are some pictures!

Hello Joann and welcome to the forum! So glad you could join. How nice of you to give Ziva a loving home! Make sure you have lots of toys for Ziva in her cage so during the day while your at work she will keep herself busy. You can take her out after you get home from work. That is what my mom does, she works 9-5 and she takes Slate(her grey) out for a couple hours before work and then a couple hours after work and he is one happy grey. Anyways congrats on your new grey, if you have any pictures of Ziva we would love to see them. Enjoy the site:)

Hey guys! So I talked to my breeder today and she said that I can take home my baby tomorrow after work! AHHH the day has finally come and I AM SOOO EXCITED!!:woohoo: I am also getting really nervous now because I am going to be handfeeding it. It is still on 3 feedings a day but soon will be on 2 feedings. I think this is going to be a good experience for me since I am studying to be a veterinarian. My boyfriend and I have been ready for this for soo long and we have just about everything. Cage, toys, swings, food, playstand, harness, vet etc. We both took off some days of work so we can spend time with the baby also. I don't know how I am going to get through work all day tomorrow with all this excitement I have. I guess I will be on here to take my mind off of it. :laugh: Heres a pic of the cage with the boing: And here is the playstand with the atom swing:

I like www.birdyboredombusters.com too, I ordered toy supplies from them and I made some of my own toys. They were very nice and fast delivery. I also ordered the bigger toys like the boings, and the atom swings (which alot of greys love) on ebay, it was way cheaper! My moms 2 year old grey just loves leather strips and the break up wood blocks. Good luck on your search for toys!
