Wow I don't agree with the person at all!! First of all $150 for sexing?? That is alot! I got my bird DNA'd from avianbiotech.com for $25! And they don't think microchipping is right? Wow, I'm so glad you RAN right outta there, it is much better to wait for your own vet! Good luck and keep us posted!

I got the best deal for an 8 piece set of eco-friendly cookware PTFE-FREE!! As you all know, PTFE is a harmful substance that kills the birds! It was $75.00 at Walmart and well worth the money! I have been looking for something that is safe for my bird and I finally found it! I'm excited so I thought I'd share. Heres a pic of what it looks like, its called Tramontina eco-friendly cookware.

Hello sievj and welcome to the forum! I agree with them, you should go to the vet ASAP!! Does she have her feathers all puffed out while she is perching? That is another sign of her being sick, they like to hide their sickness because its a defense mechanism in the wild. Please take her to the vet and please let us know how it goes! Good luck!

Congrats on your new baby!! I know how exciting it is, I just got my baby last week! I named my baby Ecko too so I know why you like the name, I just switched up the spelling lol. And Katunga is cute too!! I was having trouble deciding on names with my boyfriend but we finally decided on Ecko and I love it! Other names that I liked were Zuri(which means beautiful and its also a unisex name) and Neo(which means gift and is unisex). Well I can't wait to hear how the arrival goes and to see some pictures! Good luck

Hello Dyrkie and welcome to the forum! Congrats on getting your new baby Timneh! Have you decided on any names yet? Can't wait to see some pictures of your new baby. I have a baby Congo around 2 months old too and I just put him in his normal cage. He learned how to climb and perch really good. I would remove the cardboard from the cage so your baby can start to learn how to climb. It also helps their muscles get stronger. You said the cage is small so you don't have to worry about him falling down far. As for the beak getting damaged, I really don't think that is a problem because all they do is hold on with their beak or pull themselves up. I like to hold my baby alot too and play with him outside of the cage alot but they are really young and they need to sleep so when I notice him getting sleepy I put him back in the cage so he can get his sleep. You should do the same when you see him nodding out. They should be getting at least 9-10 hours of sleep at night too. What kind of formula are you using? Is it Kaytee Exact? That is the formula I am using and I feed my baby 2 times a day now (this is the 2nd day). He was on 3 feedings a day, morning, lunch, and night but he started to refuse the feeding at lunch so I stopped giving it to him. For each feeding he eats about 40-45cc or until he refuses it. You should also start the weaning process with your baby at this age. Give him a bowl of pellets (Harrisons are the most preferred) and a bowl of fresh fruits and veggies. Give him a variety of colors and different textures and he will become very interested in them. He should always have a bowl of clean water, you might not see him drink alot of it but thats ok because the water in the formula is good enough. Please read through the many threads on this forum to get more info on weaning your baby. I provided you with some links that are very helpful! Good luck on your new baby and please keep us posted on his progress and don't hesitate to ask any questions! There is always someone here that can help or give great advice! http://www.greyforums.net/forums/the-nursery/73409-handfeeding-a-baby-grey.html http://www.greyforums.net/forums/the-nursery/73842-associated-risks-of-hand-feeding.html<br><br>Post edited by: caitb2007, at: 2009/04/04 22:42

Welcome to the forum Ann Marie! I bet you are soo excited about your new baby. I waited for a loooooong time to get my baby too and I finally got him last Friday and he is such a joy, I love him to pieces! I was so anxious in getting my baby that I had to keep myself busy. I started making toys, reading books about greys, buying things for my grey etc. to pass time. Thats great that you found a good breeder! Do you know your new babys hatch date? And is it DNA'd sexed yet? Also have you decided on any names? lol I love to hear about other people and their greys. Anyways enjoy the site and ask as many questions as you want Also to post pictures you can go to photobucket.com and upload them on there and then copy and paste the code onto here. We love to see pictures

I am so sorry for your loss! It is always so hard to lose a loving companion! My grandma just lost her yellow lab a couple of months ago and it was the saddest thing. He was so sweet but really old and sick and it was his time to go! I know how hard it is to forget them. RIP Ollo

Aww Calypso is so cute, I think he needs you to take him home

Oh no I am so sorry to hear about this! But I'm glad you caught it in time. I had those same tests done by my avian vet and am still waiting for the results of the culture and sensitivity test. That is too bad about your breeder, I can't believe how rude they are! I would be furious and make them pay for the vet bills! I really hope your baby gets better soon and that the meds help him. So your baby is still on 3 feedings? Have you noticed him starting to refuse it at all? My baby is 9 weeks old and I just got him down to 2 feedings a day. I feed him in the mornings and at night now. When I was feeding him at lunch he started to refuse it, so he was only getting about 15-20cc instead of the normal 40cc so I just stopped giving it to him on the 3rd day of him refusing lunch. I give him a bowl of zupreem pellets mixed with dried fruits and some seeds. I also made a birdie mix with brown rice, beans, veggies, fruits, etc. and I give him a bowl of that too and he loves it. Just offer your baby a variety of colorful foods and he should start to get interested in it. Anyways, I hope this helps, Good luck with your baby
