1. Aww she is so cute! And looks very curious out there lol. Ecko loves to go outside and listen to the other birds. I swear he is trying to memorize their sounds because I can see him listening to them. Still no mimics yet but I feel it coming. lol
2. That is awesome! Maybe you can catch his amazing vocab on video one day, we would love to see.
3. Great pictures of your babies! Thanks for sharing
4. Oh no this is so sad. I am so sorry for your loss! I hope you are doing ok.
5. He is 11 weeks old. I don't think your baby is slow, every baby is different and some learn at a different pace. There is no set schedule of when a baby is suppose to learn something new. I think your doing a great job with your baby. Do you have any new pics of him? I'd love to see how big your baby got.

Post edited by: caitb2007, at: 2009/04/21 21:20
6. Ecko's favorite treats are pine nuts, pecans, and sprouted sunflower seeds!
7. I can see it a little too! Thats pretty cool.
8. Hey everyone, My mom just got her black headed Caique on Friday. He is 9 weeks old today, hatched Feb. 17, 2009. He is not DNA'd yet but I'm just going to call him a he and he still isn't named yet either. Anyways ever since we brought him home he seems so scared of us. He screams everytime we touch him or go near him. Its like he has never been handled before. The breeder hatched it and fed it since day one so he use should be use to us handling it right? Its from the same breeder that I got my Ecko from and Ecko is very social and will go to anyone so I know she played with him alot. But this Caique doesn't seem tame. Could it be because the breeder didn't handle him much? She says that thats how Caiques are as babies is this true? Are Caiques supposed to scream and run away everytime we handle it, even we were are feeding it? I'm thinking all she did was feed it and then put it back and not play with it. What could be the problem? Maybe I just need to give it more time to adjust to us but I just wanted to see if anyone out there has a Caique and knows of their behaviors. Please help! Thanks, Caitlin I'm surprised I actually got him to stay still to take a pic of him. lol he wobbles away every chance he gets.

Post edited by: caitb2007, at: 2009/04/21 20:59
9. Ecko loves his harness. I took him out in it a few times already. And I can get it on him with no problems. He looks so good in it too lol.
10. My baby is going through the same thing as yours! He is also losing alot of weight and not eating alot. He refuses his formula and he lost 30+ grams. I was worried so I called the vet and asked her if I should be worried and she said that its normal. I went to a follow up vet apt for his crop infection on Friday and she said he still has bacteria in his crop after giving him the meds for 10 days. So she gave me a different kind of meds to build his immune system so now I give him 1 drop a day of this med. I don't know what causes the crop infections either but I felt like it was my fault also. The vet reassured me that it is common for babies to get bacteria because their immune system isn't that strong when they are babies. He is doing great other than that though, he just learned how to fly and he gets up pretty high now. He is eating more of his pellet mix too so thats a good thing. I hope you baby continues to do good also.
11. Thank Pat, I never realized that the bell could be dangerous. As soon as I read this I went in his cage and took the bell off. I am not risking anything!

16. They are all great pics of your little Echo! Can't wait to see more as he gets bigger. Did you try putting him in the cage to see if he likes it? I thought he was a little older than that so you should probally keep him in the brooder, which I'm pretty sure you do.

Post edited by: caitb2007, at: 2009/04/17 17:23
17. So I let Ecko(he is 10 weeks old) and Slate(he is 3 years old) play on the floor together for the first time to see what they would do. I was really worried that Slate was going to bite Ecko so I sat close and made sure nothing happened. I was so suprised at what they did. Well Ecko was the one trying to nip at Slater, not really bite him but test him, and all Slater did was put his head down as if he wanted a scratch. I couldn't believe how he acted towards Ecko, its as if he knew he was a little baby and that he needs to be gentle with the baby. Slater was being so lovable and making all these baby noises. At the end Slater started to regurgitate for him and then I think Ecko was trying to copy him. I think they are going to be good friends. Can you guys take a look and tell me what you think was going on in their little heads, I recorded it on video. At the end of the video Ecko steps up for me! He has become really good at stepping up. I'm so proud of my little guy. :woohoo: Heres Ecko and Slate video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X8QWSZoOzuw And then heres another video of Ecko playing with his favorite toy that I made for him, just a simple toy can bring so much fun for him. lol http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=prLwTYfsGcc

Post edited by: caitb2007, at: 2009/04/17 16:27
