Thanks for all of the advice guys. I recorded him doing it yesterday to show you exactly what he is doing. This is when I got home from work. He is a little devil wanting attention. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZaXYM-tc4Uw

Aw thats so cute! Your girls are going to be best friends, just like my boys are lol. Thanks for sharing

When I give Ecko a bath I notice his chest feathers turn a different color too, only when wet though. Post the pic so I can see if its the same.

Heres a new pic of the baby.

Thanks Pat! Yes I have been doing that when I started noticing this behaviour. I would put him in his cage while I'm home and not take him out until he finally calms down. And when I get home he starts up again but I would leave him in the cage and not pay him any attention until he stops. Sometimes he climbs so fast and falls from the top. Or he gets stuck on his toys and it scares me to watch.
-
Thanks Cindy! Yes Ecko also does that too. He goes to the corner that is closest to me and he acts like a bull ready to charge haha. But its frustrating because I don't want him to do this everytime I'm home.

The vet visit went great! She said he looks very healthy. She did a couple of tests and she said that he has no bacteria infection and the poop looks normal. His weight is good too. I am very relieved now because that Caique forum scared me lol. I have new pictures also but can't upload them until I get home. Thanks for the concern guys.

Ecko is 12 weeks old now. Lately he has been misbehaving. Everytime I put him back in his cage he freaks out and tries to get out of the cage. He will pace back and forth on the ground then climb all over the cage really fast and then start biting down on the cage making a clicking noise. He gets really mad when I put him in there. He is out of his cage whenever me or my boyfriend are home. This has been his out of cage schedule: 7:30-9:00am, 12:30-2:00pm, 5:30-9:30pm during the weekdays. I think thats plenty enough time to be out of the cage but he still gets mad. I know once I leave he calms down because when I get home he is just sitting on the perch but then he starts up again. Its like everytime he sees me he does this. How can I get him to calm down when I put him in his cage?? I'm scared he is going to hurt himself one day.

Hello Angie and Millie, welcome to the forum! Congrats on your baby talking! I can't wait to see some pictures of Millie.

Hello Pete and welcome to the forum! Tell us a little more about your birds. What are their names? Do they talk? How old are they? We would to hear more about you and your flock and see some pictures if you have any. Enjoy the site.

I don't think the aloe vera plant will work as good as the aloe vera juice. You can buy a gallon jug at a Walmart near the pharmacy section, its $9 for a gallon. Oh I hope you end up keeping him. You will see, by the end of the 1st year you will not want to give him up. Greys are so much fun and people tend to fall in love quickly lol. Good luck!

Great picture of Beau in flight! I am trying to get a good picture of Ecko flying too. Its so hard lol. And I really like that toy, I bet Beau does too. Thanks for sharing.

Aww thats so cute, what a smart girl!

Hello Devin and welcome to the forum. That is great that you are doing your research before rushing into gettting a grey. Greys need a lot of love and attention and play time out of their cage, atleast 4 hours a day. They also need a lot of toys so they don't get bored while they are in the cage. They need to have a healthy diet with fresh fruits and veggies everyday. They also need to take baths a couple times a week. Please read through all of the different threads so that you know what you are getting yourself into. A grey is a big commitment compared to a boa. I wish you the best and please let us know what you decide. Greys are so much fun. Anyways enjoy the site and ask as many questions as you like.

Hello Zicodee and welcome to the forum. So glad you finally joined. You grey is beautiful and he sounds like such a character. Cognrats on his first words I bet you were so excited to hear him talk. Anyways I look forward to hearing more about you and Zico. Thanks for sharing a pic of him, we love pics!

Aww that is so sad! I just couldn't imagine what your going through. RIP Buttons

Hello Faith and welcome to the forum! That is so nice of you to take care of a very stressed grey. I don't really know how you can help him heal but as long as he stopped bleeding then thats good. As for the feather plucking, make sure he has enough foraging toys so he can keep his beak busy on the toys and not himself. Also try to spray him with some Aloe Vera juice and give him a nice bath a couple times a week. If you can't handle him then just mist him or put a water bowl at the bottom of his cage, maybe he will take one himself. Maybe that will help his plucking alittle. I really like your profile pic of your senegal. They are such cool birds. I also have a senegal parrot named Kiwi and she is so sweet and loving to me, but hates my mom and she was the one who raised her lol. We also have an "other birds" room if you ever want to introduce him/her. Anyways, I hope you enjoy the forum. Don't hesitate to ask any questions. If you have any pictures of this grey we would love to see him.

Post edited by: caitb2007, at: 2009/04/29 22:53

Hello Maggie and welcome to the forum! I also have a 12 week old grey, his HD was 2/2/09. My baby is going through the same thing as your baby is. It is perfectly normal. Mine weighed 467 grams a couple of weeks ago and ever since he started flying he lost 50 grams and I was so worried but the vet told me that is was normal. My baby is flying like crazy. He is really good at it and can land real good. He now weighs at a constant 415 grams. I just got him on 1 feeding of formula at night because he was refusing the morning formula. Anyways good luck with your baby Spock! I look forward to hearing more about you and Spock. If you have anymore pictures of him we would love to see. Enjoy the forum!

Yay! Congrats on your babygirl!

Maybe you should put out flyers that says found grey or put it in the newspaper! I know I would be devastated if my grey was lost and I bet you would too. You shouldn't clip his wings so fast either! How do you know he wasn't taken care of good? Does he look hurt? You don't know if they aren't looking for him. Please do eveything you can so he can find his owner.

So thats your breeder Carol? Awww! Hello Tina and welcome to the forum. Carol has said so many nice things about you, I wish you were my breeder! :cheer: I always love seeing new photos of her babies! You should post a thread in the welcome room and introduce yourself and your other babies, if you want too, no pressure.

No I don't have any recent pics right now but I will take some tomorrow when I go to my moms house. He is going to the vet tomorrow because the Caique Forum thinks there is something wrong with him. They say he looks way too small to be 9 weeks old, so I am going to ask the vet. Wish us luck! I hope their isn't anything wrong with him! Here are some different pics from the same day as the other ones.

Post edited by: caitb2007, at: 2009/04/29 04:01

Haha how cute! Mesa don't eat the camera lol. Thanks for sharing. -
Hello Aubri and congrats on your new baby! You grey might have dry skin so you might want to try to bathe him and spray aloe vera juice on him. Have you tried to give him a bath? Maybe mist him if you can't handle him yet or put a bowl of water in his cage to see if he will take a bath himself. As for the rubbing his head on the upper part of his tail, thats normal, both my greys do this too, thats where their preening gland is. I hope Dave sees this and can give you a better answer of what is happening. Good luck with your baby I hope everything works out. Do you have any pictures of Tim? We would love to see him and maybe a pic will help describe his situation.
