  1. My grey is 18 months old. She is still eating her formula.
  2. Mocha is between 7 and 8 months old. He can talk better than Cocoa. He sounds more like an old man.
  3. Mocha has learnt a few words like Good Moir (it's actually morning because Mocha doesn't know how to pronounce it yet), Good, Good Mocha, Mocha and Mocha Mocha. Watch here.
  4. My Cocoa came out of the house twice but made no attempt to fly away. The 1st time was when I was misting her outside the house. After misting her, I cleaned the cage of the other fids. Cocoa managed to open her cage and sat on top of the cage watching me cleaning the other cage. Luckily my daughter came out on time to warn me. The 2nd time, Cocoa was playing on the staircase and then she flew to metal grilled door. My wife was supposed to take care of her as I was out. The postman came and my wife went to the door to check. To her horror Cocoa was playing on the netting outside the door. Lucky me Cocoa did not fly away on those 2 occasion.
  5. I have a metal grilled sliding door outside my glass sliding door. The metal grilled door is meant to prevent break in. I had netting installed on the grilled door to prevent my fids from escaping. And also I keep the curtain closed all the time. My windows are closed all the time too. As for training, I do recall exercises regularly when we are outdoor. Flying down is not a problem for Cocoa because she knows how to fly down from upstairs of the house. I am not sure if it would be the same if she were to fly down from a tree. At the park she had flown from a higher perch down to a lower perch.
  6. Congrats! Welcome to the Aviator Club. The Aviator is escape proof but not damage proof. My grey has destroyed 2 Aviators. Check your Aviator before putting it on your grey.
  7. My friend's grey 1st flew out of the house when he just learned how to fly. They got him back from the roof of their neighbor's house and the grey was clipped immediately. A year later without realizing the feathers had grown back, their grey escaped again and was found in a neighbor's house 2 days later. Again the grey was punished for the owners' negligence. His wings were clipped for the 2nd time. After a month, the grey found his way out of the house again and had since gone for more than a month. The owners saw their grey escaped right under their nose. Even with wing clipping, their grey was still able to fly away.
  8. I hate reading about parrot flying away. It makes me worry my baby would fly away too.
  9. I apologize if I were to offend you but I have to say this. You shouldn't have clipped her wings just because she flew away. It wasn't her fault that she flew away. She shouldn't be punished. You could have taken more precautionary steps to ensure her safety instead of clipping her wings. This is my opinion.
  10. I have just finished reading this thread. What a happy ending. I am so happy for you.

  12. This place used to be an abandoned mining pool. Recently the local council transformed this place into a beautiful park and attracts lots of morning joggers. Since my wife and daughter were away for 4 days, I took Cocoa to this park for morning walk. This is our 1st visit to the park this morning. I did 2 recalls to the end of our walk. The recalls went awry. Cocoa flew past me on the 1st recall. I tried again and got the same result. She responded to my command but it seemed that she was flying away from me. No more 3rd trial. I headed home. I was wondering what went wrong. Could it be she panicked because the surrounding was totally strange to her? As I was driving home I was analyzing that Cocoa was facing the sun when she flew towards me. Could it be the sun had blinded her and she couldn't see me?
  13. They are all beautiful!
  14. Someone offered me a baby Hahn at a very good price last week. I was very tempting to get one. Getting a 2nd parrot is a big commitment. I can't commit myself into caring another one now so I turned down his offer.
  15. I am so happy to see most of the members here are in favor of non clipping. We are providing the best to our parrots that is freedom of flight. Birds are much happier if they are flighted. In my country most of the parronts are in favor of clipping and chain their parrots to the stand. Poor birdies.
  16. These 2 are the longest distance outdoor flights performed by Cocoa. I attached a new longer rope to the harness. The distance was about 100 feet. Even though Cocoa was harnessed, I was a bit worried she might fly off course.
  17. Yeah, you better get well fast. We need you in the next Star Trek movie.
  18. Glad to hear you are not going to clip. My Grey has been harness trained since she was 4-5 months old. She is 1.5 years old now and it was pretty easy for her to accept the harness. It took me less than 1 week to get her on the harness. With the harness, she enjoys lots of outdoor flights.
  19. Let your bird fly. He will be happier this way.
  20. Glad to hear Spock is making some progress.
  21. It is not easy to shoot Mocha in action. He is too fast for my aging eyes. After many shots (most were blanks), this one turns out to be the best.
  22. A rat has been terrorizing us for more than a year. Finally, we managed to catch the red tailed rat using a DIY mouse trap.
  23. Captured this a moment ago.
