  1. I have to retrain Cocoa to fly with the new line at shorter distance till she gets used to it. There are no hawks nor other predator birds in my area. It is pretty safe to fly here.
  2. I was supposed to go hiking with Cocoa this morning but in the last minute I changed my mine. I took her for flying exercise to test out the new line which I bought 2 days ago. It's an 80lbs Dyneema fishing line. Much lighter than the bulky nylon rope I was using. It went on well initially. She did 240ft twice and 250ft once. She was rested for awhile before took her for last round. I told her last round not last day. On nearing the landing platform, she flew higher and higher. She was flying away, past the platform. When the line reached maximum she turned back. I thought she would come back to me but instead she flew past me. I thought the line had snapped. I could only see the leash of the harness flying past me. I nearly had an heart attack. My heart was pounding real fast. I ran after her. She landed on the goal post of the football field which was about 20ft away from me. I quickly went to grab the leash and checked the line. Thanks goodness the line was still intact. Cocoa didn't respond to my recall. Since she was perching on the goal post comfortably, I quickly retrieved the flight line then climbed the post to retrieve Cocoa. What a frightening morning I had.
  3. It is Saturday night over here. I wish all the Americans "HAPPY BIRTHDAY". I know this is weird because today is still a Friday in USA, 2 days before Independence Day. And July 4th is also my daughter's birthday.
  4. Lol! She 's not sick. She mimics my wife and I sneezing. When she sneezed, she "achoo" many times. My wife said she was having bad flu.
  5. Cocoa has caught a bad flu recently. She has been sneezing "achoo achoo achoo" quite badly. When I mimicked her sneeze, she scolded me "no good".
  6. So cute! Pic #3 looks like his shirt was tearing apart like The Incredible Grey.
  7. Luckily she didn't tear down your house.
  8. Cocoa and Mocha on the cupboard in the kitchen. Mocha standing on Cocoa's stand. Cocoa telling Mocha to get lost. Mocha flew down to his cage after being chased away. Mocha wanted to make a phone call to complain to mommy about Cocoa. Mocha found a cap that could make a good cup. Bottoms up. Cocoa watching Mocha getting drunk.
  9. This is indeed a great forum with greatest members. : )
  10. There are no issues with existing license when the license for the particular species is frozen. New license will not be issued. The existing ones are renewable. The problem here is they don't allow the owners to apply for the license nor they will issue license to the confiscated birds. I think my country is the only country in the world that has this kind of law. Can you imagine keeping lovebirds also need license here? Lovebird is so common and not even threatened. They breed so easily.
  11. In Malaysia, certain pets need license or special permit to keep. Some species of animals' license had been frozen meaning license can't be issued anymore. We can't keep most of the native bird species and some non natives. Recently Sulfur Crested Cockatoo's license had been frozen. Now the authority is going to control the AGs and Amazons which all along do not need license nor permit to keep. All the owners of these species are required to declared these parrots before 28th this month or risk getting their birds confiscated.
  12. This is Malaysia. I think they will spend the rest of their lives there unless the authority moves them to a zoo.
  13. Our wildlife department came out with a new regulation that the ownership of AGs and Amazons need to be declared. I visited the state's office his morning to declare the ownership of Cocoa. Here are the pics of 3 parrots which are confiscated by the wildlife department. These parrots require license to keep. The poor owners didn't have one. So these birds belong to the wildlife department now. We brought some organic sunflower seeds to feed the 2 friendly Toos. Video of the Toos.
  14. One of my friend's Grey escaped twice but he returned on both occasions. How lucky! His Monk Parakeet is free flying. The parrot is free to roam outdoor. He knows how to return home.

  19. Sunday Morning, June 20th 2010. My friend took us to another trail of the same place to hike. This trail is much tougher than the 1st one. The slopes are much steeper. I had tough time because I was carrying an additional load of 435g on my shoulder. It took us 2 hours to complete the hike. End of the hike.
  20. My Grey, Cocoa (Koko) features in the 2nd link.
