  1. It wasn't easy to get those shots. Luckily Cocoa was cooperating on that day. Those were my best of Cocoa in flight.
  2. Usually Mocha doesn't allow me to flip him over like we do on Cocoa. I was surprised that he allowed me to do that yesterday. Probably he is used to seeing us doing that on Cocoa. His claws are very sharp.
  3. Sep 21st 2010. 7am. Cocoa goes to gym again In spite of hiking regularly, Cocoa has gained 17g lately. Cocoa insists on going to the gym to shed off her extra grams.
  4. This is a our new hiking place. We spent 2 hours here today.
  5. This is 2nd time we came to this place to hike. It's 30min driving distance. I forgot to slot in the memory card into my camera on my 1st visit. We came back here again this morning. On our 1st visit Cocoa was very tired when we reached home. She didn't even finish her breakfast and fell asleep halfway. She spent 1/2 a day sleeping. Cocoa seemed to recognize this place. She was whistling and vocalizing. I panted heavily as I walked up the steep slopes and Cocoa followed suit. What the heck, she didn't even hike. It took us 3 hours to complete the hike compared to 1hr 45min on the 1st visit. We tried different trails. Cocoa wasn't tired like before. She talked and laughed throughout the journey home in the car. I think she was laughing at a woman who thought she was a pigeon. And I lied to a young lady asking me how I caught Cocoa in the jungle. And also I met a young man who was taking photo of plants. I told him I caught Cocoa in that jungle and he should take pics of a wildlife. He believed me and quickly took 2 shots of Cocoa. Cocoa must have thought they were funny. On arriving home, I quickly made her breakfast. She finished all her food and wanted mine too. She was darn hungry after 3 hours of hiking.
  6. Most welcomed me when they saw a parrot except if there was a no pet sign on their premises.
  7. We planned to go hiking yesterday morning. But it was raining for hours till about 8am. We did not manage to go. To make that up, Cocoa went to the gym this morning to get her muscles toned up.
  8. To cut long story short, I took her out almost everyday for the past 2 years. And she is my hiking partner for the past 3 months.
  9. Because of my busy schedule later in the morning today, we decided to hike earlier. We reached there at 6:30am and it was very dark. We had to use flash light. As I was climbing a steep slope, I think Cocoa hit a rope which was attached there to help us to hike the slope. That might have caused Cocoa to take off in the dark. She was flying about, couldn't see a place to land. I quickly pointed my flash light upwards so that Cocoa could see me. She quickly flew back to me. Before she landed on my shoulder she paused for a few secs in mid air (like a humming bird) looking for a right spot to land. Under the darkness, Cocoa was still calm and composed, able to control her flight and came back to me. I was amazed by her flying skill and her calmness, and this incidence had made her a more experienced and skillful hiker. After hiking up the slope, I waited for my wife to catch up and then I related the incidence to her. Cocoa said "tock tock" in agreement.
  10. Here she keeps her beak in tip top shape by brushing.
  11. Today Sept 2nd is exactly 2 years since we have had Cocoa. She did a few rounds of flight this morning. I told her flying was good for her cardiovascular health and she agreed by making a chirping sound.
  12. I did a few short distance recalls at our regular hiking place this morning.
  13. Yup, she got tired from flying and also trying to snatch my camera.
  14. Mocha gets to get lots of fruits and also other healthy food. He is shinier than most Mynahs I have ever seen.
  15. Cocoa laying side way on my wife's hand.
  16. At a bus stand. Cocoa decides to take a bus home. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NjB7djdf9Ek
  17. Just flip her over. We have been doing that for almost 2 years.
  18. A couple of months ago we went to our regular furniture shop to purchase a cupboard. We talked to the owner about Cocoa how she destroyed the cupboard and etc. 2 weeks ago, we brought Cocoa to visit the furniture shop. "So this is your pair-geon," the owner said. No doubt Cocoa's color resembles that of the pigeons in our area but parrot + pigeon = pargeon????? lol. The poor furniture shop owner could not tell the difference between a parrot and a pigeon. Hence par-geon was born.
