My first grey was also clipped when I got her. Breeders are a stubborn lot! I would launch her off towards the couch so she would land gently on the cushions. Ana Grey loved it. She flies like a dream now. It took about a year before her flights were all in.

A cockatoo was the first parrot I wanted when I was younger..... until I spent some time in a pet shop with a couple. They are certainly lovely parrots though. Thanks for sharing Gus with us.

Hi Kizzy's Mom welcome to the Grey family. Looking forward to learning more about you and Kizzy!

My two greys also will step up from inside their cage for me. I joined this forum before getting my first grey and when I heard that greys are cage territorial, I was determined that I would have none of that so I always have gone into their cages from the beginning. They came home to me right after weaning so they did not have any habits I couldn't work on at that time. That's what is great about knowing where your grey came from and having the opportunity to see what your grey's habits and routine was/is. Kudos for you for learning what you could.

I think we need to get a group of us together and go to Africa. What fun! Of course someone will have to stay to bird sit!

I have an almost 4 1/2 year old TAG and a CAG who will be 3 in March. They are both still cuddle muffins. They lay on my chest and I can pet and tickle them all I want. they are both pretty calm and gentle greys.

What a great vegetable chopper Greycie is!

I do not cover my greys at night, I don't like to enclose them in the same air. Fresh and circulating is the best, in my opinion. Also, perhaps your grey would like it better where at least a couple/three of the sides were next to walls. It might make him feel more safe and protected.

Hi Gillian, have you tried a night light, like the ones used by parents of small children so that they aren't frightened at night or so that they can see down the hall in the night. I had one that automatically came on in the evening and went off in the daylight. I hope you find this sweet grey's home.

My Congo likes to sit on heads and shoulders so when I hear his coming I just wave my arms or bob my head and he has no where to land. It takes time and consistency so you have to be more enduring than your grey. Good luck. Greys are a stubborn bunch!

My parrots are flighted and yes, they do love to be with their parronts. I have boings and hanging perches throughout my home for my birdies to light on. Whatever you do, make sure that you are consistent in where you want your grey to be as they do like routine. So many times people are so excited to have their new friend finally with them that they want their grey with them all the time and then slow down on the time spent with their grey as the newness wears off. This is confusing to the grey so be consistent and talk to your grey. They so want to understand their new parront and to comply.

Love those Baby Greys! Great video! Welcome home Greycie.

Thanks for the kind words about the pictures. I'm glad my greys seem to be getting along nicely. I just hope that in remains a friendship and nothing more.

Oh love the foreign speaking parrots, I have a rehomed Blue Front Amazon who speaks Hindu and English now that he is with me. Kudos to you for re-homing a grey. Welcome to the Grey family!

I'm with Jay on the kissing. My greys beak my cheek I kiss the tops of their heads. I don't trust any animal with my lips. Ouchie!

You are right Judy in one of the pictures Ana Grey does actually have food in her beak as she is beaking with Sterling. The fact that she had food was what caused me to become concerned.

uddies"? TAGs and CAGs don't normally "like" each other right. I do realize they are both too young for hanky panky, right!

I just viewed the video again. No problems and I have an old ancient computer!

Very happy this sweet grey is now home.

BMS, you certainly have the wrong idea about greys/parrots in general. You can't just take a 15 year old grey/parrot to class and expect it to want to interact with children. Even a younger grey most likely would be very leery. On another note, we have another teacher who is a member here and he wanted to take his grey to class and found that it was not allowed. Have you checked to see if you can even bring your grey to class for the day. Frankly, I do not let children just touch my greys for all of their safety, including my greys. Also I have a Blue Front Amazon that I have had since he was 1 1/2 years old. Granted a grey and a zon each have totally different personalities. But back to my story, Louie belonged to a gentleman and when the man because ill his wife and children (a teenage girl and young son) put him outside because they say he was "wild". They sold him to me just before the weather turned cold. Louie does not like females and we have been working for 3 1/2 years on trust. However, Louie is a gem and I love him too pieces and would not trade him for the world. To be honest, in your place I would return Bogart as his previous owner truly cares for him, do more research into different species of parrots and start all over again looking for the parrot that fits into your lifestyle. I know what is is like to want a grey so good luck and I hope you find the right grey.

Birds/parrots have very sensitive lungs. When they breathe they almost completely empty their lungs so when they inhale they fill them full of whatever they are breathing in. Pine Sol, perfume, scented candles whatever, fill their lungs so if you think the smell is strong for you, think about what it is doing to your grey's/birds lungs. I use water and vinegar to clean my birdies' belongings.

Just my opinion, I believe greys/parrots are like children so if you are willing to deal with a "fourth" small child go for it. My three kids are within 5 years of each other and were a handful when young and very busy with sports and after school activities which meant I was busy too. Also, please realize that some greys get very nervous around small children because children are very energetic and love to poke and tease. So remember to watch your children with your grey very closely because greys/parrots do bite very hard if provoked and can take off a small finger no problem. Greys also use their claws very quickly and can damage skin/faces. Frankly, I'm glad I waited for my greys because greys love attention and I am really enjoying my parrots now that my kids are grown and raising their own families.
