Welcome to you and Lilly. Looking forward to seeing some pictures (hint, hint).

A too was my first choice of parrots years ago until I was around a couple. Too needy and loud for me. But they certainly are beautiful creatures and once in a while I still want one. Then I slap myself hard on the cheek to get my senses back. Three parrots are really enough!

Thrilled to welcome our newest family member home!

Hi paleale, congrats on your new baby. Looking forward to watching your grey and family grow together. Welcome to the Grey family! -
That's wonderful Jeff! NOW we will be all waiting for your new thread about what to do to get Gracie from wanting to perch on you shoulder all the time and listening to all the woes about poop call outs on your back by your friends/students when you go to work. Enjoy! Love the picture of you and Gracie by the way. She looks content and you look very happy.

Hi Carl. I have two greys and neither of them is banded. Not required in the USA. Looking forward to learning more about you and Chico. Pictures are always appreciated if you get a chance. Welcome to the Grey family!

Just spend a lovely Christmas with my family and friends. I hope you all have had a joyous day with loved ones and friends. Merry Christmas!

I use red palm oil as the oil for my scrambled eggs and toss in some finely chopped veggies for my parrots.

Hello :) new first time parrot mom here
Luvparrots replied to EmmasMom's topic in Welcome & Introduction Room
Hi Lidija and Emma. Welcome to the Grey family. Looking forward to hearing more about Emma and seeing some pictures (hint, hint). I too am 5'5" and the nice thing about the EZ Care cage is that you do not have to put the toy racks on top if you don't want. As for the height thing, Judy has all ready nicely addressed that. -
Mamas are always trying to make the boo boos go away. Be strong, your new friend needs your love and attention because he too has lost his family and needs someone to show him love. I think the two of you are made for each other.

I have both a TAG since she was 4 months old, and a CAG since he was 5 months old. Ana Grey is now 4 and Sterling Gris is now 2. Ana Grey is very self-assured and fearless. If you come into my home especially with food you better be prepared to share because she will lit on your shoulder and ask and ask until you give her, her fair share. If Ana Grey decides you're okay, she is there for you. Now my CAG is a big cry baby. If someone new comes into my home he screams like a banshee in fear for his life. Sterling trusst only me. Its funny to watch little Ana Grey (305g) small and brave; and Sterling Gris a big guy (505g) scared and screaming. Ana Grey is my social butterfly and Sterling Gris my backroom shy guy.

Hi everyone! not a grey owner... yet.
Luvparrots replied to featherfluff's topic in Welcome & Introduction Room
Hi featherfluff looking forward to joining you on your journey to find the right grey for you. -
So sorry for your loss Carolina. I bet you have some wonderful memoirs of Beezer that will be in your heart forever. Be strong and know that Beezer is still with you flying free at last.

I have three parrots, none of which is a companion for the other. These parrots are for me and me alone. In my opinion if you have one lonely animal and get another to keep it companion, what you really get are two lonely animals waiting for you. Just my opinion.

I took no offense. I just wanted you to know that I understand the dangers and will be cautious and very careful. I am allergic to pain.

Not to worry Jay, I grew up on a farm with many different fowl around. I have been chased by geese, hens, peacocks, rams and bulls. My father also raised fighting cocks so I have seen vicious and threatened fowl. I do understand what can happen and will be careful.

Hi Dave, love to hear from you. I almost choked on my coffee when I read your post. You should stop by more often and (hint) show us pictures of your babies.

I have three parrots that all talk, except Louie and Sterling only talk for me, except if I am on the telephone then all three talk nonstop. Sounds like I"m having a party they rattle on and on with every word they know very loudly. Of course Sterling is also an in the dark talker. I feel sorry for anyone who comes into my home unannounced as Sterling, who is always is trouble likes to say, "get out of there". That would scare the beejesus out of me if I was sneaking around where I shouldn't be.

Louie of course is only 5, so we will see what happens in the future. I don't know if any of you remember, but I had a very mature male ekkie, Sully, which I have re-rehomed because frankly, Ana Grey hated him and pestered him endlessly. Sully was at least 10 from the information I gathered but I have been told that he is much older by the looks of his beak color. Anyhow, Sully would lick my arm and latch on with his beak, very scarey but I quickly learned how to get his to release without too much trouble and made sure he did not have the opportunity to get so close to me again while in this condition. (Thank you Dave, you were a real lifesaver) When you talk about pinning eyes, I know all about them because Sully had the most evil eyes when he was in "heat". By the way, Sully, lives next door and is very loved and happy. I bring this up because I am not afraid of the so called male zon's mating tendencies because I have seen them upfront with a older male ekkie. I am prepared if needed.

Great post Jay, I frankly, have a male zon, a Blue Front, one of the "Hot Three" he will be 5 around January 1. Louie is a very sweet zon and full of energy and tries very hard to be a good boy and do as I ask. He does not bite me, he nibbles, but no bites. Never a loss of blood or broken skin. He will not come to me except on his terms but he tries very hard to watch me, listen to me and do what I ask. Louie is very attentive and very observant. I love him to pieces and will not be deterred by hearsay, stuff others have heard. So unless you have a "Hot Three" zon, a male, I don't want to hear about their terrible personalities. I will draw my own conclusions by Louie's personality and his treatment of our relationship. All I know is that I wish I had been Louie's first owner, I wish I knew more about his prior life because Louie is a sweetheart who tries very hard to be my friend. I wonder why he doesn't like to be touched but loves to touch. Because I believe his nibble is his touching of me and his preening of my hair is his way of also touching me. I wish I could have talked to his original male owner, the husband/father because I truly believe he was really loved by someone just not the women who sold him to me. These ladies put him outside because he was "wild" and they could not handle him. Louie is not wild, he is a true sweetheart and the favorite of all my family. What a personality, no one can touch him but he is still the favorite of everyone. He steals everyone's heart. Go figure.

What time zone are you using Dan. By my calculations Mayan Time in my area would place the end of the world at 10:00 pm tonight. So you all still have time to set your consciences straight. Margaritas at my house starting at well an hour ago!!!!

Happy Hatchday Cricket. So where are some new pictures of Cricket, Ray (hint, hint)!

Very nice update on your growing trust in Jellybean. He will have you confident in no time. Good job.
