  11. Hi mrsray, very nice introduction. I'm looking forward to hearing more about Wally and enjoying your journey with him. Welcome to the Grey family!
  12. You need to be very careful about glass windows/doors, etc. Our parrots don't realize that it is glass and hard and think they are going to be outside flying. You should make sure that your grey knows that this is glass and very hard. Your grey can be hurt very easily. Perhaps some stickers on the glass. I always show glass to my parrots by tapping on it so they realize it is hard and that they shouldn't try to go through it. I talk to my parrots all the time so that they know what I am doing. Some greys are very cautious and you have not had Miki with you all that long so give her more time to settle in.

  20. Because it is Christmas time, I just had to share this:
  21. I am retired and live alone with my three parrots so I spend 24/7 with them. They are out of their cages all day except if I am out for the morning/afternoon/day. They are flighted so they go into all the rooms but my office (my canary resides there, is flighted and is out most of the day), my bathrooms and my bedroom. I once a week keep my parrots caged for the day so that they are use to remaining in their cages just in case for some reason I am gone for the day say like in the hospital or such. Need to be prepared. My gang follow me from room to room and if I am in my office, they go into their bird room which is across from my office and where they can see me. If they can see me, they are happy. My home is full of boings and perches so my parrots have places in each room to observe me. They of course feel free to perch on me whenever they like.
  22. Ana Grey checking out some Christmas gifts. ENTRY #9: ">
  23. Congratulations Sanggay. Your photography is gorgeous and your sharing your photographic beauty with us is much appreciated.
  24. I always offer an arm. To me, much more secure.
  25. Well, only you can really answer this question. There are many members who work 5 days a week and have a very wonderful relationship with their greys. You need to analyze your day and your commitments each day. Do you have the time and desire to spend at least 4 hours a day with your grey out of his cage? Greys need interaction and time to stretch their wings and their minds. I don't mean sitting watching your grey I mean around and close by so that you know what he is doing and where he is. A grey can destroy furniture, computers, electrical chords... just about anything they set their mind to destroy. Greys are very messing beasts, their cages need to be clean and their food fresh and replenished every day. Some greys mess up the water with food and poop and whatever. You have to be ever vigilant because your grey's life depends on it. How have you been with other pets, a dog or cat, have you ever been responsible for a hamster or fish? When my kids were young I started them small with a goldfish then a hamster. Have you ever been responsible for a younger sibling, and how did that go? A grey or any parrot is a real commitment and one that can last years and years and years. Do you really want to commit to such a burden and responsibility at such a young age? Perhaps a canary or parakeet would be a better first choice just to see what it is like to care for a bird. Think about it and read, read, read the many different things in these threads that members have problems with and need help with concerning their greys. Are you ready for these things? I commend you for asking questions and I hope you find your answer.
