  1. Great video jhhuhma, Echo will be talking up a storm in no time. Thanks for sharing with us.
  2. Edi, I am so very, very sorry about Darwin. And yes you know in your heart that you made him happy those last days, the very best part of his life was when it counted the most. Bless your heart and you will find another grey to give a loving life. Please stick around while you are looking for your grey as this is a place for grey lovers and you are now family.
  3. My TAG doesn't chew on my clothes but because she uses her beak to get from place to place on my body, from floor to leg, from lap to shoulder, etc. I have holes in my pants legs and shirts. I never wear anything I really love when she is out of her cage, which is usually always. I wear old jeans, sweats or tee shirts, which now have lots of ventilation for that cool look!
  4. Hi Mary, sounds like you and Xanan are not on the same page. As Dan and Judy have suggested it could be physical and only a vet can rule that out. Can you tell us a little more about him. Obviously he comes out of his cage but what else can you tell us about his routine, his toys, his diet. How often you bathe him. His feather pulling can be related to many things so if you could give a little more detail, perhaps our more experienced members can help. When was the last time Xanan was at an avian vet. Don't get discouraged, just fill us in as best you can. If you have any pictures of Zanan, we would love to see him.
  5. Hi Bobbi, you certainly have a houseful! What is your CAG's name? You have come to the right place for friendly caring people who love their greys. Welcome to the family. Can't wait to hear more about your flock.
  6. Hi chimaysmommy, I am a new grey owner and now have had my baby grey for two months. I had no parrot experience just small birds. I hung around here for 2 months reading everything, answering posts and absorbing all the information I could. I also talked to my breeder weekly, she didn't mind and actually enjoyed it as much as me because she so loves her babies and was delighted I was so interested in hearing about and learning all I could from her about my baby bird. We still talk to each other. I also read a couple of books that are very interesting ALEX AND ME, by Irene Pepperberg and THE PARROT WHO OWNS ME, by Joanna Burger. So don't be nervous, just put your time to good use and learn all you can about African Greys, they are so worth the time and energy. My Ana Grey is a doll and I feel very confident about caring for her and she is a confident and independent grey because we are comfortable together. Everyone here is willing to help and that also gives me confidence; that if I do have a problem everyone here will try to help me with all their experience and knowledge. So ask any questions you have and read, read, read. Knowledge puts you in control.
  7. I move everything around in my 5 month old grey's cage. She doesn't seem to mind. But I also clean her cage every night before she goes to bed so she is use to the activity. She sits on the cage door and observes the process. I'm sure once she learns to talk, she will be giving me directions!!! :silly:
  8. Very ingenious bird stand holder. Are those pictures of your birds in the picture? Thanks for sharing this unique stand holder with us. Please tell us more about your fids and yourself.
  9. I am so happy that the Specialist was able to diagnose Chopper's problems. Now he will be on his way to recovery. How very wonderful. Please keep us posted on his progress.
  10. Steve, love the picture of Charlie he is so very handsome and seems like a very confident grey. Good for you for going with your gut feeling and letting Charlie bond with you immediately. That is what my breeder told me to do, to cuddle my new baby and handle her because she would be missing her siblings and looking for someone new to bond with. So enjoy your new baby as they become teenager-like so soon! Can't wait to hear more about Charlie.
  11. Hi Tiger, welcome to the family. Congratulations on your new baby TAG. You have come to the right place for learn about greys. If you have any questions, just ask and we'll see if we can help you.
  12. In case you are talking about the difference in the grey colors between a Congo and a Timneh I have included these pictures. These pictures are of my TAG - Ana Grey - for comparison. She as a bone colored beak and maroon tail and darker gray feathers, where a Congo has a black beak and a red tail and lighter gray feathers.<br><br>Post edited by: luvparrots, at: 2009/02/04 20:24
  13. Congratulations Melissa. Will you be DNA testing your new baby to see if you have a male or female? And what names are you thinking about naming your grey? Baby greys are so adorable so I can't wait to see your new baby's pictures.
  14. Thanks Dan and Caroline! I take pictures all the time of Ana Grey and she poses so readily, probably because she is a little ham or maybe prima donna!!!B)
