Abula, you have gotten a lot of great advice from our caring and experienced members and I know if you apply this advice things will become much easier on you, your grey and especially the household. Cleaning up after our greys is a chore but if you do it when it happens i.e., when Abula poops or throws his food on the floor, immediately clean it up so Mom doesn't have to, she may lighten up on the deadline if she sees you are really trying. Karma to you for caring so much about Abula that you want to make his life and your household much happier.

Hi Ernzz, welcome to the family. Yes, birds bite for different reasons. My timneh, Ana Grey, is very independent and if she doesn't want to leave her position she has tried to bite. A firm "no bite" usually stops her. Greys are very intelligent and they do have the ability to understand as you will soon find out. Greys understand much more than some people give them credit for. Read through the many threads and you will be amazed at how smart they really are. Welcome to the family and karma to you for doing your homework!

Sometimes my Ana Grey likes to stay in her cage a little longer. I usually let her come out on her own. She always comes out when I am cleaning her cage. She likes to sit on the cage door and I guess supervise!!! Sully my Eclectus is the same way, he immediately leaves the inside of his cage if I am going to clean it. He really prefers his cage and because he is older (I believe at least 10 years old), I try to respect his wishes most of the time.
