5. Hi Shalom, I have a Eclectus that is a plucker. He has been vet checked as healthy. He has a diet of pellets, nuts & seeds, fresh and dried vegetable and fruit. He is a great eater. He is a very nervous bird. I put his cage in a corner of the bird room. He shares this room with my 10 month old grey. It is a very quiet room as I live alone and he is very comfort there. I don't push him. He comes out of his cage when he wants, steps up when he wants and returns to his cage when he wants. He has stopped plucking. He has lived with me for about a month and a half. He has become more outgoing and now comes into my office on his own to sit on the back of my typing chair or he roams the house. The history I have on him is he was found in a public car wash and rescued by the local pet shop owner 8 years ago. He was been re-homed with 2 separate families over the years but always returned to the pet shop because he is a biter and a screamer. Sully no longer screams and no longer bites and no longer plucks. I didn't do anything but give him peace, quiet and a sense of security. Oh yeah, and a forever home!

Post edited by: luvparrots, at: 2009/06/29 22:51
6. Hi Hanlie, I love the cage setup you have for Assegaai. What a great idea!!!! Thanks for sharing it with us. Can't wait to see more pictures of Assegaai and hear more about him. Welcome to the grey family!
7. What I do to my fids is if I believe they are not eating enough of a certain thing, say vegetables, is to remove all seed and fruit for the day and present only pellets and vegetables. I feed what I most want them to eat first in the day because that's when I believe they are the hungriest. I believe our fids will not starve themselves on purpose so they will eat what is available if they are hungry. That is my solution and it works for my grey and Eclectus.
8. Well Bernie, it certainly is an interesting angle and quite beautiful actually!!!
9. Thanks everyone for your congratulations and prayers. I talked to my daughter-in-law, Aubrey this AM and she is up and doing fine. She was able to change little Dino's diaper today and spend some time with him. He is doing really well. He is 2 1/2 lbs and 15" long. Aubrey fought like the dickens to hold her son as long as she could so that he could receive medications to help his organs grow and all her hard work paid off. Sometime today they will be changing the type of oxygen apparatus he is using to one that sees that he is getting adequate oxygen but he will be breathing more or less on his own. They are hopeful that tomorrow Aubrey will be able to nurse little Dino directly. My son is so proud, his son latched on to his Daddy's finger and held on tight. My daughter-in-law is an I.C.U. nurse so little Dino is in expert hands!
10. Raja certainly is very handsome. I hope he calms down soon. Thanks for sharing him with us!
11. Dee, thanks for the great update on Sunny. I'm going to check out her pictures right now!
12. Ana Grey hasn't had a reaction like that yet, so thanks for the heads up about what can happen if greys get frightened. Glad Harvey eventually calmed down around Suzy and the visit ended nicely!
13. Hi Wang, hope you find your baby grey soon. Please keep us informed about how things are going in your search. Welcome to the grey family!

16. Today my son, Johnny, and his wife, Aubrey, had a baby boy!!!! Weighs 2.5 lbs and his name is Johnny Dean Albalos, Jr. His mother was only 26/27 weeks pregnant and has been in the hospital for 2 weeks hoping to keep him for has long as she could. He was delivered by C-section at 3:56 pm June 28, 2009. He is in the 90% for babies delivered at 26/27 weeks. He is breathing oxygen at what they call room air and according to his nurses he is doing very well. Please pray for my tiny grandson. His nick name is Dino after his late grandfather. He is so very handsome and much loved.

Post edited by: luvparrots, at: 2009/06/29 09:27

19. Hi Raheema, I have a perch in the container I use to potty train Ana Grey. I put her on the perch and say go potty. She wiggles her little bottom and goes if she has to go. I praise her and give her a scratch. Good luck with Leia's training and welcome to the family. If you have any pictures of Leia you would like to share we would love to see them!
20. So Nkusu it shall be for now!!!!! Can't wait to see some pictures. Waiting for a baby is always so exciting!!!
21. Hi Wang, I would look up the avian vets in your area and see if they know any breeders in Australia. Good luck on your search. You should go to the Welcome/Introduction Room and introduce yourself.
22. I believe Sully is a Vos Eclectus because he is between 14-15 inches long from the top of his head the tip of his tail. I don't know how they are usually measured and he won't let me near him with a yard stick to measure. I fear someone at some time probably scared him with a stick or such because he is usually so mellow but I could'nt come near him with a yard stick. I am not encouraging him to climb through the bowl opening so I probably won't be taking any pictures. The strange thing is there is a bowl guard inside the cage so he has to get over it to get out.
23. Your pictures are fantastic and Koko certainly looks like she is enjoying the outdoors. Thanks for sharing this beautiful country and Koko with us!
